Big Day and could see the pendulum shift decisively with one of the teams!

West Indies 312
Pakistan 172/3 (69.0 ov)
Pakistan trail by 140 runs with 7 wickets remaining in the 1st innings

Misbah and Azhar at the crease.

Pakistan should slow down. The goal should be to bat until Tea Day 4.

lets hope we at least level the score , batting is gonna be tough today. Next 100 is going to come in 50 odd overs.

Misbah is h=going to get out i have never seen him bat the next day..

We both know that's a complete lie don't we? He was 5* overnight when he scored 99* last week.

And you were well aware of what was happening...

Why is Misbah playing this slow right now??? He needs to attack Major Hawkeye Markhor

The way Misbah is setting up, it looks like he is looking for the right ball to slog Bishoo.

Last 10 overs, 16 runs :14:

Enthralling stuff...

Even though we are 3 wickets down don't know why it feels like another wicket for WI's here and we're into the tail :)) the names to come do not produce big scores consistently enough, hopefully Misbah and Azhar can forge a big partnership

We are by far the most boring and dull cricket team on the planet today.

But the run-rate though

Yes it's productive

damn we are such a dull team

Some people need to stop calling names, just because they find this boring. Learn to respect others opinion

Pakistan is doing the right thing. They should try not to bat on this wicket on 5th day

Hopefully after this test and next we can finally move to a more interesting method of play, like we did in LOI.

Not all opinions deserve respect.

One of the best batting performances by Azhar in recent times. If he can survive till Lunch & later end up with 150+, this'll be his by far best innings. How good he has played, poster will understand once WI starts their second innings, particularly if PAK has a 100+ lead.

But, I must say Shehzad boy is

Misbah knows that Asad will be out in no time against new ball

As long as the weather didn't intervene, the slower Pakistan get to 450 the better it is for them.

What a boring match

Why? This is one of the most strategic batting in recent ties by PAK - they are burning out Gabriel, who is on his 25th over out of 90. PAK has Sarfy, Shadab & Amir, Yasir from 7 to 10 - once WI bowlers are tiered, 170 in 3 hours is possible. In fact, Holder has feel in to this trap - he is allowing PAK to gt away with 2nd ball & burning out Gabriel, who won't be able to bowl at same intensity after lunch.

Misbah and Azhar making WI bowlers repent for choosing bowling as a career.

Yes I understand

But this opinion is valid. I know you care about the win and the end result and that's perfectly fine because it's your preference how you want to watch the match . People do care about the entertainment value as well, it's lacking here.

I started loving cricket because of likes of Wasim, Waqar, Shoaib Akthar, Razzaq and Saeed Anwar, they had flair and style, it was attractive to watch. It sucks that we don't these type of players anymore, this might be the best strategy for the win considering lack of other options but it's really boring and dull to watch.

Are Australia boring and defensive?

There is always a method to entertainment-value. It is there. Just that with Misbah, you have to decode it.

No is talking about going REALLY FAST, I am just saying that around 3.20-3.30 is fine. Many times Pakistan do go around this run rate e.g recently in UK, Lords 1st innings, was might productive as well but other days it's painful to watch.

I'm just asking because their run rate is below 3 runs per over in both the UAE and the Windies in this decade.

So I'm assuming that Australia are negative and cowardly too?

Nothing wrong with the batting.

Need to get a lead here. Sarfraz, Shadab and Amir can score fastly later on once we have secured a 40-50 lead.

England produce better wickets more conducive for strokeplay.

These trash WI pitches are not easy to get set on because of uneven bounce and we've seen some sharp turn already.

The RR issue wouldn't be as bad if Shehzad didn't play the mother of all selfish knocks yesterday where he didn't even put away half volleys.

My word what a knock from Inzamam ul Haq, Javed Miandad deserves just as much credit for leading us to the win in the end while wickets fell around him. The greatest time of their lives, can't imagine what it must have felt like to be a Pakistan fan back then

I wouldn't call Pakistan negative and cowards becauae it's strategy that's working for them.

My point is different as a viewer

One of the boring day in Pakistani Fans.........Looking forward for the excitement on final day.....Hopefully

Very immature Captaincy by Holder - he over bowled Gabriel before lunch, now has opened with 2 spinners after lunch, with what is a 15 overs old Dukes ball.

Will misbah get out in this series.. Will be epic if he doesnt
Some kind of record that will be..

And my point is that you need to understand that scoring quickly in the UAE and the Windies is difficult.

If you view the game through a vacuum then you end up with this match thread full of complete idiots moaning about strike rate because they're too busy looking at their phone to check the RPO on cricinfo to actually see what is happening on the TV.

If people don't want to have a proper discussion about what is happening in the match then they should go away and stare longingly at their 1992 poster and dream of the glory days of the late 90s and early 00's when we had a team full of match winners that choked and fixed matches instead of winning anything.

I remember going to a family friend's house to watch it on Sky in the middle of the night, it was great. Almost as good as watching this current Pakistan team

Brilliant, brilliant hundred by Azhar - well played.

13th hundred for Azhar. Brilliant stuff from him. :salute

Congrats to Azhar, evidently very emotional ; giving his captain the salute Big Mac in tribute to an inspirational leader whom helped elevate his career. Fantastic hundred Azhar, really enjoying it with his hero at the other end  We've taken him for granted and do not feel compatible giving him credit because it's not supposed to be the norm right, a world class pak bat who has scored all over the world and is the best on the planet so we prefer to overly rate other players #ClosetIndiaFans

I was wrong about Misbah

Thought he was finished as a batsman after NZ/Australia debacle, and it was selfish for him to .continue when he doesn't deserve to play on merit.

Did exceedingly well to prove me wrong

Amazing it took us all these years, after trying countless openers, before we finally realised Azhar's game was suited for opening and we had the solution in front our face.

Come on Misbah! hope you can get your hundred today, mind the haters; TAKE ALL THE TIME YOU NEED! plus their tears taste very sweet on PP hehe I likey.

Awesome, I was in my nappy when Pakistan won the WC :))

We still have to find the second opener though.

Nah bruh, don't you remember the glory days when we had match winners and battered everybody home and away by scoring at 3.5 RPO and bowling teams out for 170 with non stop inswinging yorkers?

Nah, neither do I actually.

:salute

Well played Azhar. Shafiq has to step up now. I've started losing my patience with him after supporting him for such a long time.

Lack of intensity - Azhar is extremely limited batsman, whose entire game is built on concentration, patience & value for the wicket. He got complacent after 100, which cost his wicket.

Now then Asad Shafiq, big moment for you after low score in Jamaica.
