What's new

West Indies vs India | 2nd Test | Kingston | 30th Jul - 3rd Aug | Day 2

They are well on the way to becoming an ATG pair. Run so aggressively too.

Kohli will go down as a great. Rahane has runs overseas just needs to improve in India. And it's a shame he's struggled in LO formats.

India are so lucky straight after Sachin and Dravid retired they found players like this.

Yeah they just picked them off the street.

I loved the way Kohli looked up at the umpire to make sure he'd given him after he middled it to short leg :D.

That's the line for Roston, 6th-8th stump. Slow that pace down and drag them outside their crease.

What I meant was that they just came straight after them. Obviously credit goes to India for the hardwork and the good system they have come up in.

Look Australia, they haven't replaced Magrath and Warne after how many years. South Africa haven't replaced Kallis and Greame Smith. So sometimes you need a bit of luck.

They groomed them properly.

Australia have Starc, Hazlewood, Pattinson.

Kallis and Graeme retired recently.

Pattinson can't even stay fit. And let's see what Hazelwood does away from home. Starc is quality no doubt about that.

Yes and have you seen how much they miss them? They won't be replaced easily.

India now has a surplus of quality batsmen. Guys like Manish Pandey (recently scored a century against the top bowling attack at their home and won his country the game) can't get into the team.

Its not luck. All of those batsman has mentioned how Sachin, Dravid etc groomed them in international cricket and made them ready for the big scene. People give them a lot of flak saying they retired late. However the youngsters swear that playing with them on the other side giving them tips and confidence eased them into international cricket and made them ready to face the big stage. This is something Lara and Sangakara failed to do by retiring on "top" instead of staying on to groom youngsters which caused an immediate decline in batting quality in their team

There is a reason we replaced batsmen but our bowlers lose their way even after promising starts because of lack of role models and mentors. There is a reason Pakistan was producing amazing bowlers when Imran, etc where in the team to groom them. Today Amir looks lost without a role model and we all know how Asif, Akhtar lost their way.

So no, its not all about luck. The young batsmen really respected the older ones, they learnt a lot from them both on and off the field and used that experience to transition from domestic to international, something our bowlers have failed to do

Sad pakistan vs wi series is in UAE.. Would have been competitive series if Pak were touring WI

expected a 200 plus lead end of the day india need to bat 2 sessions tomorrow to pursue a series win lead around 325 should be good enough but with 5 wickets down would be tough unless Rahane guides the tail and score big

I just meant that they literally came after dravid and Sachin.

The way they was developed was not lucky and playing with such class players early on in there careers was a big help.

India have some serious prospects in Test Cricket next 2 years. Rahane coming at No.5 is such a solidity! This guy is like an additional opener taking on the old ball + shielding the 2nd new ball. I don't think India can be safe with 5 batsmen strategy against stronger teams. By then the bowlers should improve and be ready to take the responsibility of working out as 4 bowlers unit. Even Australia with Gilchrist as wicket-keeper batsmen were operating with only 4 bowlers (those bowlers were good enough to run through opposition anyways!) This tour should make sure that Ashwin gains confidence to bowl on all kind of pitches and we should identify who are those Seam bowlers whom we can rely upon (at least Shami).

Good day overall. Batting hasn't been as easy as Rahul made it look.

Now good opportunity for Rahane to convert the start to a bigger score, ditto for Saha as well. Take the team to a 500+ total from here on should be the target and bat WI out of the game.
