Basically all prominent leaders arrested by the PDM regime are being released one by one.

So here's the million Dollar question.

Will some action be taken against the perps of those who arrested the leaders and their handlers?

One example:

IHC orders release of PTI leaders Maleeka Bokhari, Ali Muhammad Khan

The Islamabad High Court has ordered the release of PTI leaders Maleeka Bokhari and Ali Muhammad Khan, declaring their arrest “unlawful”.

The PTI leaders were arrested under the Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance, 1960 following the violent protests in the country after the arrest of ex-premier Imran Khan on May 9.

How is it illegal?

This very same party passed army act, how can a law that was passed by themselves deemed illegal by them.

The law needs to be applied on them and PTI needs to be made a mockery. A party that passed stupid laws to control its opposition, ended up being the victim of the same law :))).

Btw the law that PTI passed says any person can be arrested without a warrant.

So no need for taking any action, praise your leader for this law

Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) warned on Friday that if the court’s order to recover Mirza Murad Akbar, brother of former PM Imran Khan’s aide Shahzad Akbar, was not complied with, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif would be summoned to court.

The judge issued the remarks while hearing a petition seeking the recovery of Murad, who his family claims was picked up by law-enforcement personnel.

In the last hearing on May 31, the court had directed the capital police to produce the missing man within the next two days.

According to a first-information report (FIR) registered with Shalimar police station, Murad was “abducted” by people purportedly from different law-enforcement agencies from his Islamabad residence on May 28.

The case was registered under section 365 in response to a complaint lodged by Danyal Akbar, Murad’s son, who subsequently filed a plea with the IHC for the recovery of his father.

Several officials including Islamabad Police DIG Operations Shehzad Bukhari and Advocate General Islamabad Jahangir Jadoon appeared before the court today.

At the beginning of the hearing, Justice Kayani inquired from the police officer whether the individuals who detained Murad were members of paramilitary Rangers or the Counter Terrorism Department.

Bukhari clarified that the personnel involved in the raid on the petitioner’s residence did not belong to either of the forces, requesting some time to review the CCTV footage in order to determine the identity of the personnel.

The court expressed its disappointment, deeming it disgraceful that numerous individuals in Rangers and police uniforms forcefully entered a residence and apprehended a man, with authorities appearing “unconcerned about the matter”.

The judge criticised the expenditure of millions of rupees on a “safe city project”, highlighting that videos of private individuals were being recorded and shared, while criminals remained free to roam.

The court ordered a representative from the Ministry of Defence to ensure that the Director General (DG) Rangers appears in person, saying that this action “will have an effect”.

Justice Kayani went on to say that he would issue a show-cause notice to the DG Rangers in the next hearing.

The assistant attorney general informed the court that Rangers had not received any prior instructions regarding the case.

In response, the judge said he would issue an order that would ensure everyone understood the gravity of the situation.

He also remarked that the DG Rangers should have been aware if someone else had been using the uniform of his force.

“Individuals dressed in Rangers and police uniforms are arbitrarily detaining people, while no action is being taken to address the matter,” Justice Kayani said.

He said representatives from the various law-enforcement agencies should present their respective FIRs in the case.

The judge clarified that his directives aimed to safeguard the interests of individuals in “genuine uniforms”.

Addressing the authorities, Justice Kayani remarked, “If you cannot work effectively, then you should step down.”

Subsequently, the hearing was adjourned until Monday.

The FIR
According to the FIR, approximately 30 people in Islamabad police and Rangers uniforms, officers from the Anti-Terrorism Squad and some people in civvies barged into Murad’s house on May 28 at around 1:10am.

One of the persons in civvies broke the door down. The armed officials entered the house and took away Murad, the FIR said.

The chef and the guard were constantly harassed and threatened by the security personnel, the FIR said, adding that they entered Murad’s room and took him into custody. Besides, his mobile phone was also confiscated after his room was searched.

The family members kept asking for a search warrant and the crime for which Akbar was being taken into custody but no response was given, it said, adding that during the raid almost 15 police vehicles, Rangers and some vehicles bearing private number plates with tinted glasses were present outside the house.

The complainant along with his family members has been running from pillar to post since the morning of May 28 in search of Murad in all police stations as well as FIA, NAB and Rangers offices but all have denied his presence/detention or record, the FIR said, adding that Murad, 44, was diabetic and was on insulin. He was also hypertensive, had a heart condition, which required regular medication and was also undergoing psychiatric treatment.

The Islamabad High Court (IHC)'s Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani on Friday said that people are being picked up by men "dressed in" Rangers and police uniforms but "nobody cares".

The judge made these remarks during the hearing of the case for the recovery of Murad Akbar, the brother of former premier's adviser on interior and accountability Shahzad Akbar.

DIG Operations Shahzad Bukhari, additional attorney general, assistant attorney general, Advocate General Islamabad Jahangir Jadoon, Murad Akbar's lawyer Qasim Wadud, superintendent police (SP) Nausherwan and deputy superintendent of police (DSP) legal appeared in the court.

At the outset of the hearing, the advocate general apprised the court of the case details. Following this, the IHC inquired if the people who came to "pick up" Murad were neither from the counterterrorism department (CTD) nor from the Rangers.

“Can you confirm this?” the judge asked.

The DIG police confirmed the statement and told the court that none of the mentioned security forces had picked up Murad.

The court then questioned, "Who is seen in the footage?". To this, the DIG replied that they will look into the footage of the incident but needed some time.

Irked at the remark, the judge stated that “millions of rupees have been spent on the Safe City project, personal videos of people are recorded and uploaded, but they [law enforcers] do not catch thieves and robbers”.

“Where is the director general [of Rangers]? Who is from the Ministry of Defence?” questioned the IHC. It added that if the vehicles and persons are identified, there will be consequences.

Subsequently, Justice Kayani summoned the DG Rangers in a personal capacity and remarked that he will issue a show cause notice against him in the next hearing.

“He [DG Rangers] is responsible if his uniform is being used,” remarked Justice Kiyani.

He stated that people dressed in uniforms of the police, Rangers and CTD came and took away a man in Islamabad, questioning “Were they fake people?”

The assistant attorney general told the court that the Rangers did not have any direction earlier. Irked at the remark, Justice Kiyani said that he will pass an order right away and then "everyone will understand the matter".

He further said that DG Rangers should have known if his uniform was being used. “People are being picked up by men in police and Rangers uniforms and nobody cares,” he added.

The court then summoned the home secretary, DG Rangers in a personal capacity on June 5 (Monday) and directed them to bring their own first information reports (FIR).

It also directed the DG Rangers and IG police to look into the matter and file a case, adding that this incident will have an effect.

Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani remarked that if the DG does not appear in the next hearing he will summon the interior minister on the next date.

"If he still does not come, I will call the prime minister," he maintained, adding that if there is no peace in a 36 km area, then "you people should go back to your homes".

Yasmin Rashid kept in jail for 24 days in fake case: PTI

The PTI has claimed that party leader Yasmin Rashid was kept in jail for 24 days “in a fake case to spread propaganda in the media”.

“Dr Yasmin Rashid is an elderly woman with cancer who spent her entire life as a doctor saving people’s lives. As a minister, she saved millions of lives during the Covid epidemic,” it added.

Lahore court discharges Yasmin Rashid in Jinnah House attack case, orders release

An anti-terrorism court in Lahore has discharged PTI leader Yasmin Rashid in the Jinnah House attack case and ordered the immediate release of the former Punjab health minister.

ATC Judge Abher Gul Khan issued the order, a copy of which is available with Dawn.com.

The order said: “… perusal of record reveals that neither Dr Yasmin Rashid is nominated in the FIR nor involved through supplementary statement and she was summoned in the case on the disclosure of a co-accused which has no evidentiary value in the eye of the court.”

It added that no “incriminating material” was found against Rashid and ordered her release.

It added that no “incriminating material” was found against Rashid and ordered her release.

The Punjab police decided on Sunday to approach the high court against a Lahore anti-terrorism court’s order to discharge PTI leader Yasmin Rashid in a case pertaining to vandalism at the Lahore Corps Commander’s Residence — also called Jinnah House — on May 9.

The PTI chief’s arrest at the Islamabad High Court last month by the paramilitary Rangers in a corruption case had sparked countrywide protests, during which several private and public properties, including military installations, were vandalised.

Rashid, along with 17 other women PTI workers, was initially detained under the Maintenance of Public Order ordinance and was re-arrested merely hours after the LHC had ordered her release on May 13.

She was also charged in three cases registered in Lahore pertaining to her alleged involvement in May 9 riots. However, due to her medical condition, police had decided at the time to keep her at Services Hospital in Lahore, where she was taken from Kot Lakhpat jail.

The Lahore High Court’s (LHC) Rawalpindi bench on Tuesday ordered the immediate release of PTI leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi and barred police from arresting him under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO).

Qureshi was arrested last month by the Islamabad police on multiple charges, including “inciting violent protests”, following PTI chief Imran Khan’s arrest in the Al-Qadir Trust case on May 9.

On May 18, the Islamabad High Court had ordered the former foreign minister’s release. However, his release was delayed due to his apparent reluctance to provide an undertaking to refrain from engaging in “unruly” protests.

When Qureshi was finally set free on May 23, he was again taken into custody by Punjab police from outside Adiala Jail after his detention orders were issued by the Rawalpindi deputy commissioner.

Time to tighten up ‘noose of law around masterminds who rebelled against state’, vows military brass

The top brass of Pakistan’s military on Wednesday vowed to tighten the “noose of law” around “planners and masterminds who mounted a hate-ripened and politically-driven rebellion against the state and state institutions”.

According to a press release issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the consensus came during the 81st Formation Commanders Conference at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.

Formation Commanders’ Conference is one of the military’s larger forums, which usually meets annually for discussion on strategy, operational and training matters, besides deliberating on organisational issues.

Today’s conference was presided over by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir with Corps Commanders, Principal Staff Officers and all Formation Commanders of the Pakistan Army in attendance.

“The forum paid rich tribute to the supreme sacrifices of shuhada (martyrs) including officers and men of the armed Forces, law enforcement agencies and shuhada from civil society who laid [down] their lives for the safety, security and dignity of the country,” the military’s media wing said.

It quoted the top brass as asserting that “the state of Pakistan and armed forces will always keep shuhada and their families in the highest esteem and will continue to honour them”.

The participants were briefed on the prevalent environment, challenges to security i.e. both internal and external and their own operational preparedness in response to evolving threats, both traditional and non-traditional, the ISPR said.

Addressing the forum, the army chief reiterated that the Pakistan Army would remain committed to the national obligations of safeguarding the “territorial integrity and sovereignty” of the country.

The people of Pakistan and their deep bond with the Armed Forces are and will remain central to all our undertakings and events of 25th May were a clear manifestation of same, the ISPR quoted Gen Munir as saying.

“Hostile forces and their abettors have been trying hard to create societal division and confusion through fake news and propaganda but all such designs will continue to be defeated with the full support of the nation, InshaAllah,” he asserted.

The forum, the ISPR statement continued, concluded that “unfounded and baseless allegations on law enforcement agencies and security forces for custodial torture, human rights abuses and stifling of political activities are meant to mislead the people and malign armed forces in order to achieve trivial vested political interests”.

It added that the forum condemned the incidents of “May 9 Black Day” and, in the strictest sense, reiterated its “first resolve that the desecrators [of] Shuhada Monuments and Jinnah House and attackers of military installations would certainly be brought to justice speedily under the Pakistan Army Act and Official Secret Act, which are the derivatives of the Constitution of Pakistan”.

“In this regard, efforts to create distortions and attempts to take refuge behind imaginary and mirage human rights violations to create smoke screen for hiding the ugly faces of all involved are absolutely futile and do not stand the abundantly collected irrefutable evidences.

“It has been further stressed that, while the legal trials of perpetrators and instigators have commenced, it is time that noose of law is also tightened around the planners and masterminds who mounted the hate-ripened and politically-driven rebellion against the state and state institutions to achieve their nefarious design of creating chaos in the country,” the ISPR said.

Furthermore, it went on to say, the conference resolved that endeavours by any quarter to “create obstructions and stymie the conclusive defeat of ill-design of inimical forces will be dealt with iron hands”.

The statement added that the COAS also stressed maintaining high standards of professionalism and motivation during operations and achieving excellence during training of their formations.

The army chief also commended the commanders for their constant focus on the wellbeing and high state of morale of their soldiers who remain the foundation of army’s operational readiness, the ISPR said.

“The forum concluded by affirming the resolve to render all sacrifices necessary for the security and stability of the country with the perpetual support of the proud people of Pakistan,” the statement added.

May 9 and after
On May 9, PTI chief Imran Khan was arrested by the National Accountability Burea with the help of the paramilitary Rangers at the Islamabad High Court in the Al Qadir Trust case — a development that sparked countrywide protests amid incidents of vandalism and violence.

During the protest, military installations — including the Lahore corps commander’s reisdence — and state properties were damaged across Pakistan.

Following the episode, the military had termed the day a “dark chapter” in the country’s history and resolved to bring to justice all those involved in the vandalism.

In a more stringent step later, it decided to bring the arsonists who attacked the civil and military installations to justice through trial under relevant laws, including the Pakistan Army Act and Official Secrets Act.

The decision was also endorsed by the National Security Committee — the country’s top forum for coordination of security issues.

Subsequently, on May 20, the COAS said the “legal process of trial against planners, instigators, abettors and perpetrators involved in May 9 tragedy has commenced under the Pakistan Army Act and Official Secret Act as per existing and established legal procedures derived from the Constitution of Pakistan”.

The military and government also later decided to observe a ‘Martyrs’ Respect Day’ on May 25 to remember the sacrifices of martyrs and to honour their families.

In this regard, a number of commemorative ceremonies were held at martyrs’ memorials across the country.

Ok Mr Khan,

So why were your supporters labelling this as some sort of freedom March?

I have been watching a lot of election intention videos and the results are 70:30 in PTI’s favor. Khan’s popularity has definitely skyrocketed. Virtually everyone in the video wants to vote Khan.

Will this translate into voting day results? The establishment and the PDM are really determined to rig the elections against PTI. The recent election results in the Karachi elections and the Kashmir Bag elections show that they have now streamlined the rigging process and are now confident of implementing it on Election Day. The major international establishment players are with the Pak army and PDM which puts PTI at a significant disadvantage.

The CJP has played PKs. He said all the right things and even pretended to have fake fights with the mafia ( much like Bajwa did with NS and the Nooras) but all along he was playing a double game. All decisions are delayed to the point of being meaningless. The constitution was smashed and he did nothing except talk. In this environment the PTI and workers had no chance. We always feared Isa, but it was this criminal that has let down PKs. What will Isa allow that this criminal hasn't. He will rot in hell for his failure to protect Arshad Sharif, 1000s of innocent PKs arrested and Imran Riaz, who was kidnapped and possibly murdered by the ISI.

Imran Khan can only tweet, be it as a PM or not.

Unfortunately words don't speak louder than actions.

An Islamabad sessions court on Saturday granted the police a two-day physical remand of PTI leader Shehryar Afridi over a case pertaining to the May 9 riots.

Afridi was arrested on May 16 from his Islamabad residence under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) Ordinance, 1960, which enables the government to arrest any person. On May 30, he was rearrested shortly after his release from a Rawalpindi prison under the same MPO law, with the city police officer accusing Afridi of “instigating/planning to organise unlawful assembly/commit violence, deliver unlawful speeches to cause damage to human life and public/private properties”.

Despite the Islamabad High Court (IHC) overruling his detention orders on June 6, Afridi was being kept in a death cell at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail, following which the IHC warned the capital police officials of contempt proceedings.

Judge Naveed Khan presided over the hearing today while Advocate Sher Afzal Marwat appeared as Afridi’s counsel.

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) stalwart and former Punjab governor Sardar Latif Khan Khosa proposed to the party leadership on Saturday that it should part ways with the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) to strengthen its position in Punjab.

Bilawal should not be a part of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s cabinet, he said, regretting the PPP chairperson’s appointment in April 2022 as the foreign minister.

Khosa made these remarks during a press conference held at the Lahore High Court, where he was flanked by the lawyers.

These parties are the remnants of former military dictator General Zia Ul Haq, he said, lambasting the constitution of military courts and trials of civilians under Army Act 1952 in relation to events of May 9.

The senior politician added that they would be approaching the Supreme Court to challenge military courts and contended that no civilians can be tried under such courts.

When asked about the recent attack on his house, Khosa said that if anyone wished to pressurize him they would soon be saying that they went after the wrong person. Law enforcement agencies are obligated to probe this matter, he said, adding that his house was in no way of less significance than the Lahore Corps Commander’s residence (Jinnah House), which was attacked by vandals on May 9.

Khosa’s driver was injured a day prior when unidentified miscreants opened fire at his residence in Lahore. Shots were fired at the door of the house and a car parked in the garage.

The driver, Javed, was shifted to a hospital with a gunshot wound to his leg.

Shortly after being informed, Cantt SP Owais Shafiq reached the site and his team began a probe. Initial reports suggest that bullets were fired through rifles and pistols.

Lol. Delusion

Imran Khan is history. Pakistan is Zindabad

Well I see your feelings on IK but what exactly is zindabad about Pakistan at the moment. The economy is crashing into oblivion. Inflation is not coming off. Businesses shutting down.

National footballer Shumaila Sattar has been arrested by police for her ‘involvement’ in the Jinnah House attack on May 9, ARY News reported on Sunday, quoting police.

Oh the economy is crashing?

Truly despicable actions by the powers to be. We have never witnessed such barbarity in Pakistan’s history. Today, Umar Cheema’s (former Punjab governor) wife was abducted after attending her husband’s hearing. Shameful!

Shameful is a small word to the atrocities being committed with impunity. Pakistan currently being treated like Vietnam of 60s or Iraq of 2000s. Irony is we are not in a state of war yet we are seeing war crimes.

The crooks are trying to browbeat PTI and it's supporters. If IK comes to power and plays the all Saintly stuff, then he would be disgrace. Each and every member of the puppeteers and puppets to do time and the leaders need to go to the gallows

I do not see a way out for the PTI. Khan would never be allowed to win an election.
