What lead will be enough for India to defeat England in the 4th Test?

It appears that India will gain a significant lead, unless some huge collapse happens.

So what will be that magical number that will be enough for India to win this game?

A target of 280+ will be hard for England to chase against a bowling attack which is not spin heavy.

This is a very good wicket for batting now, and I'll bang this drum again: India are without their best spinner.

India will need a lead around 300 to be comfortable, anything above 250 they'll be favourites.

England have very occasionally chased scores in the high 200s in home Tests.

India would however still be favourites if they set England anything around 250 (or above) to win.

350 meanwhile would for all intents & purposes be impossible for England to chase down without Ben Stokes.

This game is over- Ind will win comfortably. I see a lead of well over 300 and England batting is more flaky than a Cadburys flake

250 should be enough, the England batting test batting line up is just too mentally weak to chase it down even if the pitch has eased down now.

If England had Ben Stokes in the side then they could potentially chase 300 or even anything up to 350 on a flat deck, just as they did 2 years ago against Australia.

However I do think (without him) then realistically 250 is the most that England could chase down. And a lot would have to go right for them in that instance as well. They did chase 275 or so against Pakistan last year in the 4th innings, which was impressive.

But in short, India are favourites.

As an Indian fan anything less than 350 would get me jittery. It's still a very flat pitch and India would definitely miss the services of Ashwin. Add to that Root and Pope score at a decent clip as well. That most of the other English batsmen are a hit and miss is what will keep India slightly ahead. Truly hope the surface starts misbehaving a bit.
