Pakistan has captured at least 2 Indian air force pilots.

India have altogether denied any loss of personnel.

What should Pakistan do?

1) Interrogate the pilots and keep them as prisoners.

2) Hand them over to India without preconditions and be the bigger nation.

3) Make them spill the beans over surgical strikes and then hand them over/ keep them as prisoners.

If India is denying loss of their pilots, what will happen if Pakistan decide to hand them back to India? Will India accept? If they dont, what message will it send across to Indian air force????

Thoughts?

Have to force India into accepting the pilot is theirs.

Treat them with dignity and respect. Its Pakistans chance to get some good PR points and help improve its global image.

Modi right now is destroying India's image lets just let him continue down that path while Pakistan can show compassion, dignity and respect. Show the world we are not interested in war but cooperation and understanding - this will work wonders for future events.

interrogation i guess will have to happen but even that should be done according to the law and with dignity

Do what Islam tells to do with captives, he has also rights.

This. However, this was an act of war and the pilots need to reveal that the air raid by India was a hoax. Do that and they can be released as soon as India accepts them as theirs. They should be treated well until then.

He should never be released. Unless $10 billion is paid.

This. Get the fact cleared out and let them go. PAK doesnt want any war and a war is surely not the solution.

Keep him for a while and extract what ever information you could from him in camera.. I am sure that Imran Khan would ensure that due protocol is followed and whatever the rules of war prisoners say in this regard would be followed..

Prisoner swap. India nabbed a retired Pakistani army officer last year.

Or we can make this guy a malshi for the Gujranwala kabbadi team :p

Treat him well, with respect and compassion. He was doing his job.

No point in debating this. He should and will be treated as per the Geneva Convention. It's not a choice

Given how long the IAF took to even acknowledge that at least one of their pilots was unaccounted for, he could have been tortured, killed and buried before the Indians even decided to swallow their pride and admit that he was missing. It was definitely a choice and Pakistan made the right one.

You are confusing between a spy and a soldier. POWs are treated differently as there are strict international laws.

There will be interrogation be sure of that but I hope he is treated according to laws. He should be kept in custody untill there is an official cease fire to start negotiations of his release.

India let go over 90,000 Pakistani POWs in 1971 in return for nothing, as a gesture of goodwill.

Treat him well

It was so sad to see locals act like animal when he was being beaten, thankfully Pakistan army saved him.

Yes but these are the same Indian soldiers that abuse, degrade, kill and rape Kashmiris so its understandable.

Exchange him for a few Pakistani prisoners, his family is influential enough to get it done

Good to see he is being treated well.

IAF pilots are not really doing that tbh lol. But i guess for a commoner who came across him, its fair game

eh ? interrogate for what. he isn't Yadav who was covertly working behind enemy lines. all he would really know is what airbase he flew from and what was his mission - which must be fairly obvious

Respect to the captain who saved this guy from the mob. Or else he would had been killed

ALso, i dont think there was a need to make the above video

I am only answering the OPs question..... seems like everything isnt obvious obviously

Agree. Any mistreatment will be remembered for a long time.

Brother he is not a prisoner of war. This was not war and geneva conventions dont apply here. It was an invasion by a foreign aircraft in a non-war situation.

Pakistanis however can treat him as per Islamic principles. Which are more or less the same as Geneva ones.

Islam says, treat your prisoner of wars better than what you will treat yourself. I fully expect Pak armed forces to take utmost care of him as they should. He was just following orders.

Treat him well but trim his mustache a little. He is not looking handsome with this big bush on face.

Great to see such a positive mindset of Pakistani public here! I am glad I am in this forum and hear from the Pakistani's directly.

Exchange him for Ghambir, I am sure Ghambir would come running to help him re-unite with his family, and Pak army should allow Ghambir to keep his phone so he can tweet all day.

He should be treated as a POW as per the Geneva conventions.

India is demanding his return and is angry of video footage. If they just wouldn't lie all the time, there would be no need for the video and photos.

welcome.

Talks and dialogues are the only way forward to this madness.

We have been fighting for over 70 years and it has achieved nothing.

We are signatories to Geneva Convention. Military personnel captured in uniform during hostilities must be accorded all rights as governed by the Geneva Convention.
I agree with Major, we should not be releasing any of these videos of him esp. praising Pak Army.
It should have been state your name, rank, serial number and done...

Felt extremely sad for him. Sounds like a well mannered gentleman like most south Indians. Politicians and media in India who monger for war are directly responsible for this. Old men shout and young men die. Hopefully he returns home to his family soon.

Interview him to embarrass India in front of the world. After that we need to get all secret information out of them. Should eventually release them once things have calmed down.

Agreed. I lost trust in India-Pakistan negotiations. So many have happened and no real progress was made.
But we have no other choice. Hope we see meaningful discussions that targets ending violence and final resolution. Even if a path to resolution in say 5 or 6 years is created, I would be happy.

Opposition parties politicize terrorist attacks and ruling party use military for their advantage. This is becoming ridiculous. Any human life is same as our own life. Playing with it is a sin. Hope everyone realizes it.

Lmaoo following orders for a job HE CHOSE. If he bombed houses and schools then you would say he has no responbility as he was "following orders". If he follow that line of thinking then nobody could be prosecuted for a crim if they said that their "boss made them do it". I jusy eish Pakistanis weren't so sensitive and thought rationally.

Make him open the batting with Fakhar zaman for Pakistan in the world cup match against India to signify that India's loss in this mini war.

Would probably give us a quicker start than Imam :))

You need to do a lot of learning and reading before you try to debate stuff you have no idea about

he is not a pakistani terrorist to bomb civilian houses and schools

Pak has a big bargain chip now in their hands. They can twist India's arm using this guy.

India deserves this humiliation for sending pilots on those pathetic Jets.

His game is up. He was sent on a mission, he failed. We captured him, made a show of it, and I doubt we can get any more information from him.

He should be returned to his country, although his return is being held up by his own prime minister. Soon as India stops hostilities, diplomatic channels can re-open and Abhi can go back home.

I absolutely see no reason to send him back. He came to kill but got captured. What we can do as a favour is not hang him. Other than that he should be punished to the same extent as an extreme criminal would be punished.

He is better off in Pakistan. His career is practically over in IAF for he will be held responsible for destroying a very expensive aircraft and then getting caught by the enemy.

I would not be surprised if he is shamed by the public when he returns home.

Treat them in accordance with how the Holy Prophet treated POW's. Set an example for the entire world.

There's a good chance that he will overtake Babar and become our best batsman considering he's Indian.

We have embarrassed Bhakths and hindutva enough.

You need to look at the big picture. It isn't about embarrasing them, that's such a juvenile goal. The main goal is to use the PoW as a bargaining chip, as leverage in any negotiations.

Treat him like any other with dignity but keep him just until election. Let Modi suffer for his haste decision to unnecessarily try to attack Pakistan. Then release him back to India as a gesture of goodwill..The whole world needs to know how we treat our POW. Let this be a direct Slap on Modis election campaign.

That means absolutely NOTHING in the real world. The world doesn't care and will forget within hours "hOw vE trEaT ovur PoWs". Keep him for a few years, even John McCain wasn't let off easy.

Treat him with respect and dignity as per the Geneva conventions.

However, he must be used as leverage in case the conflict escalates further..

This is what happens when you talk about things you don't have the first clue about.

Treat him well, but you cannot let him go freely - this is war!

He came to kill and he would have done it, which could have included innocent children and other loss of lives.

This whole "show the world our generoisty" thing is complete garbage.

A ransom must be paid of a billion dollars or exchange.

He chased the Pakistani jets that entered Indian airspace, who baited him to enter the Pakistani airspace and that is where his plane was shot down.

He did not enter Pakistan to fire missiles on the civilians. He was simply doing his duty as a WC of IAF. Credit goes to PAF for executing their plan.

Pardon my ignorance, but where is the other pilot?

Can he be tried for attempted murder and possession of lethal weapons in a court of law ? He clearly had intent to kill or what else was he doing in Pakistan with such dangerous weaponry — oh wait, law doesn’t apply here , that’s only for civilians...

Depends on what news you believe.

Every fighter pilot carries weapons with him.

I will narrate the versions of events according to a retired PAF officer. When his plane was shot down and he ejected, he was not sure if he was in India or on Pakistani territory.

The locals had gathered around and he asked them for confirmation. The people mislead him by telling that he was in India. He was obviously skeptical - he responded by shouting "Jai Hind" which angered the locals and thus proving his suspicion.

He did hawai firing with his pistol and ran. When he came across the stream of water where he was eventually captured, he tried to flush down all his documents. This is where he was intercepted by the angry mob who would have killed if the Pakistan Army Captain had not intervened him at the right moment.

He is clearly a prisoner of war and there are no grounds on which he can be mistreated without violating the international law. He will be allowed to return to India soon unharmed. However, that does not mean that Pakistan cannot ask for negations. They are in a leveraged position now and can put forward some demands.

I am going by what a retired PAF officer (whose son is a serving PAF officer) told my father today. Nevertheless, they will always be plenty of versions. In any case, he was simply doing his duty.

Just wait and see when the pilot is returned. Indian media will go out and mislead their awaam again saying:

"Look viwers, India gave Pakistan ultimatum, if you don't return him safely we will bomb you back to stone age, and the pakistanis got scared and returned him"

Pakistan have to release him but not without anything in return.

Would India return a Pak pilot without nothing in return ?

And certainly not until all hostilities are over.

This is a rare chance where Pak have some leverage, got to take advantage of it.

Had it been the other way around, the Modi government would have used the Pakistani pilot as a tool in its proxy war and tried their level best to alienate Pakistan even more at the international level.

Pakistan army should treat him fairly but should not go overboard with demonstrating how kindly he is being treated. He should be dealt with professionally, debriefed and ensure he is securely held in an unknown location.

Not sure why there has been no official ban on unsanctioned videos released by the Pakistani military folks on the social media using their personal phones. If I were their commanding officer, I would give them an earful.
