Horror movie about a supernatural force that resides in a mirror and causes people to lose their minds. Well made i would say, but not as scary as i would like.

The hangover 3
7/10

Finally got to watch this. Fine movie.

Shake Hands with the Devil

10/10. I'd give it more if I could.

Based on the true story of Canadian Lt-General, Romeo Dallaire, who was the Force Commander of UN's Assistance Mission in Rwanda (UNAMIR), 1994. Showed the utter desperation of one man as he raved and cried about the impending genocide, yet was shrugged down and ignored by the UNHQ in New York. Once the killings began, he then struggled (and ultimately failed) to get resources, manpower even food and water for the Tutsis he was harbouring -- all while the UN, other European states came and evacuated the 'whites'.

Once the genocide was over, he and his vastly depleted peacekeeping force of mainly Ghanaians and Bangladeshis had saved over 30,000 lives -- yet still lost more than a million in a spate of senseless brutalisation that dwarfed even the Nazi experience.

A brilliant movie. Absolutely brilliant, and a must watch! I came across it as I'm writing a paper on the Rwandan genocide, but even by itself -- it is fantastic and truly compelling.

I remember reading about Romeo Dallaire during that time. After he returned to Canada, he attempted suicide at one point, and later on I believe he tried entering politics.

He did. Was part of the Senate or something. But for most part, he'd been involved in social work for child soldiers in Africa.

It was the failure of humanity. Utterly harrowing, for anyone involved. Just makes you think though, doesn't it. What horrors humans are capable of..

Indeed, we as a species are capable of outrageous excesses: kindness and cruelty.

The 90s were a telling period in that regard. We had the Rwanda/Burundi conflict, and the war in the Balkans, and in both instances, it was a case of wounds festering for centuries and finally bursting. It was fascinating how the resentment that is pent up inside a group of people against another, brews and brews and intensifies over time, and then one day it just finds physical expression, and all hell breaks loose.

Can't remember a single year in my life when there hasn't been a terrible war.

True Lot happened in the 90's but there was no social media back then and the world was not so global and connected Only if u paid attention you would be aware of what was going on.

Just saw "Cast Away" for possibly the millionth time again.

Wilson - Wilson - Wilson - Wilson - Wilson :((

Them tears man, them tears

Zoolander 2

Completely nuts but I thought was quite funny! Cameos were excellent too!

Very true; but not just kindness or cruelty, but apathy as well.

In case of the Hutu/Tutsi conflict, one only has to look towards the Belgians for the madness that transpired. Prior to colonisation, both groups lived side-by-side with no issues -- most even claim that the distinction was rather "class-based", not a religious or ethnic one.

Enter the Belgians and their faulty, disgusting anthropological methods. One way to bid one party against the other, was to *create* differences - by measuring the sizes of their heads and the lengths of the nose to determine who was Hutu and who was Tutsi. Then oppressing one group whilst preferring the other, creating further divisions, and hatred that had no root until they arrived..

Gone girl

8/10

Good movie about a woman who tries to fake her own murder and put the blame on her husband. So real psycho stuff there.

Yeah remember watching it 2 years back, was awesome. In the following 2 years haven't seen a movie released with the same thrill factor until The Revenant about a month ago.

I watched Madagascar 2. I've been a bit down lately, so need such pick-me-ups. cute movie

Awwn, why have you been down?

OT, Watched Dilwale just now. Far too cheesy for my liking. Only hints to the fact that I'm growing up and the type of Bollywood films that I once used to enjoy no longer interest me.

Will give it a 2/10. 1/10 for SRK and 1/10 for the nostalgia factor.

Nothing special. Life in general, stress from school, homesickness. The works.

Any recommendations for a cute animated movie?

In the Heart of the Ocean

8/10

The acting of Mr. Chase isn't convincing or good enough but I like it. Also saw "All is lost" 9/10.

In mood of watching Ocean Movies and stuff

The more I read about colonialism, the more I come to the conclusion that the Belgians were the worst of the Western imperial powers. They wrecked havoc on Rwanda, Burundi, Belgian Congo and all the territory they ruled over, even though they arrived late to the imperialistic party, they made up for lost time.

I guess there is truth after all in endymion's claim that the Walloons are the Rednecks of the Francophone world.

Perhaps so. Africa bore the brunt of colonialism, no doubt about it.

What did endy say, lol? :))

Well, I was finally able to confirm the guy's domicile, which he acknowledged was a Francophone region in a country bordering Liechtenstein. I had incorrectly assumed it was a Francophone region in a country bordering Luxembourg instead of Liechtenstein. Anyhow, I later enquired about dapper, sophisticated Walloons of Hercule Poirot's ilk, and he said there weren't any, because "Walloons and Picards are the Rednecks of Francophonie."

Watched it a long time back and it stayed with me for ages. All I can say is "The horror, The horror" (shout out to my favorite movie - Apocalypse Now)

Recently watched Netflix's "Beast of no nation". Excellent movie as well, directed by Cary Fukunaga of True Detective Season 1 fame and brilliantly acted by Idris Elba. It was based in some unnamed Western African country but could have been the story of any country in Africa. Horrifying to watch how children are exploited and abused shamelessly by all sides. One can only get shocked and baffled at the depths humanity can fall can to, whether in Auschwitz, Rwanada, Chechnya or even Indo-Pak at the time of Partition when trains arrived from across the border full of dead and mutilated bodies. What makes the human race take such extreme measures can be blamed on the fanaticism of religious extremism, the narcissism of racial arrogance or the egotism of patriotism but above all, its indifference to others suffering that makes humans become monsters.

Going to watch the exorcist(1973) tonight. Wish me luck

It is not scary at all, I watched it a few years ago because of the hype around it being the scariest movie of all time but I was disappointed as I didn't find it scary at all, maybe it was scary for its time or the fact that it is supposedly inspired by true story adds to the hype but after seeing so many crazy Korean and Japanese movies, this is just child's play

Really? Maybe i should lower my expectations a bit. And i am going to watch it at night (i watch all the horror movies at night for the thrill factor) so that might make it a bit more scary for me.

Which korean and japanese horror movies do u suggest ???

The exorcist (1973)

7/10

Gotta look for something scarier.

My expectations have not been that high but glad that you enjoyed it, also I need to tell you a story on the ritter :))

With Deadpool the main hype has surrounded the rating, many jobbers have been complaining about it being to extreme etc for a comic book character or whatever  Still am looking forward to watching it not sure if I will get the chance to see it in cinema due to uni and stuff. What would you give it out of 10

Out of 10 I'd probably give it a 7.5/8. It was a good film. Had a good balance of action and comedy. But it is a lot more gorey and graphic than your normal superhero film but I liked it.

I did a lot of calculations in my mind that night and finally understood it but the next morning i was confused again. Cant even explain what i understood About the movie without using some unparliamentary words. :))

Nah bro I have to admit my repertoire of films isn't that good. I do enjoy superhero films both Marvel and DC. Would u recommend Sin City

Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk

You need to see it, very unique and refreshing take on ne noir in the confines of a comic book adaptation. Frank Miller the famous comic book writer and artist made the movie.

Yes i have. Didnt find it that scary tbh.
U will probably laugh at it but the last "scary" movie i remember watching was a bollywood movie called "phoonk 2". It wasn't very well directed and there were some stupid scenes in it as well but i found it scary.

All the movies you listed there are amazing, Donnie Darko is really creepy though, thoroughly enjoyed it, amazing.

The night before:

6.5/10
Romcom. Some funny moments in the movie and some cringe worthy ones. All in all a good one time watch.

Bad neighbours:

5/10
Didnt like it that much. Got bored at times. I guess you can watch it when you have nothing better to do.

Going to watch road to perdition tonight. Heard good things about it.

Deadpool

Acting,Direction,Stunts,Dialogues -9/10
Script -2/10

Such a shabby script that everything is so predictable from start to end if you have seen the trailer plus not such a great villain as well. Its funny true and the humor suits the franchise a lot but imo it falls below my expectation.

Someone please tell me if deadpool is censored at all in Pakistan? Going to Dubai for PSL playoffs. Should I watch it there instead? By censored I mean even one scene. Stewie?

Any nudity will obviously be censored everywhere in the world when you are showing it in theatres. In India they have cut 7 scenes( not necessarily nudity) from what i know.

Dammit! I only like to watch the complete movie. Guess ill watch it here then get the blu ray when it comes out. They havent censored any violence or language right?

Nope majority of places they dont. They show it like it should be shown. The movie that the director wants you to see. Its stupid of countries like Pak to censor it. They should just check if the person is above 18 and thats it

blinding light Donal Cozzie is Frozen any good? how would you rate it if you've seen it

I enjoyed it hugely, especially with my Grand-daughter who sings all the songs. It's the first Disney movie where there is no eternal villain like a bad wizard or somesuch - the villain is childhood shame and fear, which is why so many adults love it.

Basically the same plot as The Lion King - the crown prince/princess loses a parent, becomes ashamed and goes into exile, sings a cheery song to feel better, everything at home turns bad as an evil usurper takes over, crown prince/princess comes into their adult power, faces down the guilt and shame that was holding them back, returns and straightens everything out.

Watched Chappie with Mrs Robert. Quite a thoughtful film about childhood and growing up. There is a God figure, a Devil figure, a good parent and a bad parent, and a child's realisation that they will die one day.

Had Afrikaaner hip-hop too!

Nice one Robs, will give it a look. Also, did you take your grandaughter with you as an excuse for you to see Frozen in the cinema :))
