Bill & Ted Face the Music(2020): Total fun..

Damn!

That's impressive. Do you have a list?

Too lazy for that.. It look like more than 350 I watched from April onward..

Snowpiercer (2013 Korean film) - It was the age old story surrounding the brutality which stems from capitalism, but the execution in a unique and innovating setting was a thrilling experience. One of the best post-apocalyptic dystopian movies from the last decade without a doubt. Events take place onboard a train which travels on a track which extends around the entire planet and carries the last humans after a failed experiment to prevent global warming turns the Earth into one giant snow ball suffering from extremely low temperatures.

Chris Evans stars as the lead who is from the tail section of the plane which consists mostly of what you can deem the 'working class', he leads these folk to rebel against the elite at the front. In between the quieter moments where you feel the pain, suffering and struggle of those in the tail section the action was outstanding, eastern asian cinema thrives in this regard when it comes to combat, you can't keep your eye of for a second and the contrasting environments between the tail and front sections of the train made for some very creative visuals and exploited beautifully with the direction of each scene.

It's very rare to experience those sensations where you get to feel or see something for the first time and I feel this movie definitely accomplished that. 9/10

Ex Machina.

A British film with a similar concept to Westworld.

Good twist at the end.

If you guys had to suggest 3 movies to watch this week what would they be?

If you guys had to suggest 3 movies to watch this week what would they be?

First on your list should be Snowpiercer from 2013 also having an idea of your interests generally think you will love it

For the other two:

2) L.A Confidential
3) Seven

tenet: had very high hopes but was a fairly average film in the end. 6.5/10 for some quality action sequences and a decent attempt at a core plot, execution lacked and cast, whilst solid, was very unengaging.

Le Mans 66.

American automotive designer Carroll Shelby and fearless British race car driver Ken Miles battle corporate interference, the laws of physics and their own personal demons to build a revolutionary vehicle for the Ford Motor Co. Together, they plan to compete against the race cars of Enzo Ferrari at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in France in 1966.

Brilliant film. 8/10.

Marriage Story - Watched this after a recommendation from aliasad1998 jesus christ what did I just watch, 0/10 this is a million times more over rated then even Blah Blah Land.

I’m thinking of ending things (6/10) just didn’t do much for me. Might need to rewatch

Carlitos Way (8/10)

Saj, do you happen to know where Ken Miles is from in the UK ? :akhtar On topic, the movie was incredible; the racing sequences were outstanding and the performances overall, watched it in the cinema when it came out thankfully, deserves its nomination for best picture. There is also an episode which covers Le Mans 66 from the Grand Tour Series , episode 6 season 1; on amazon prime if you have that, the movie covers majority of the bits but I found the documentary piece thoroughly enjoyable to

The Gift - A solid psychological thriller about a stalker, it was well made considering directorial debut but the story itself was nothing out of the ordinary or creative. It's good to watch though just for the female lead in my opinion. 7/10

Bale did a good job with the accent and I believe Miles was from Sutton Coldfield.

JaDed have you seen Tumbbad ? barely watch any bollywood movies anymore but this was pretty good, it was in the horror genre and took 6 years to make due to monsoon season! loved the narrative structure and how they developed the character of the lead. Another horror of interest is Pari, may see this at some point looks alright to going by trailer

I have bro, recommended it as well on the bollywood thread and haven't watched Pari, have no expectations from Hindi cinema to produce good horror, Tumbbad was this good coz the lead actor and producer Sohum shah.. he takes his time with movies, another good one he produced and acted is Ship of thesus (slow but amazing, watch it when you have patience).

The Devil All The Time on Netflix...

I found the cinematography quite nice: it did a fine job placing one in the milieu. There are some very competent performances as well. There just wasn’t too much exposition regarding the motives behind most of the characters.

A decent enough Southern Gothic picture... if Southeastern Ohio can be considered southern.

Its a good movie..if you observe marriages around you, as you age you would notice its pretty much inspired but again not desi marriages..

Thanks I will give it a watch, that bloke was definitely very impressive I must say; the movie took me off guard by how good it was, the only thing I'd say is the scenes towards the end with Hastar were a little OTT with the CGI / slow motion which I didn't like. Also, do you know why the Hastar's were able to multiply when more flour dolls were bought ? that was something which they didn't account for :yk

It was well made but I just couldn't grasp what the punch line was or why they were separating to begin with, but it just seemed like a bit of commentary which I didn't find compelling or innovative, then again it is what it was; a story about a typical western marriage between white people lol does it deserve all the Academy Award nominations etc a big no from me lol the couple also seemed to lack chemistry imo

Spoiler broo... that is the massive plus point of the movie usually horror movies suck but this one actually had an amazing ending lol.

Just Mercy

In 1989, idealistic young Harvard law graduate Bryan Stevenson travels to Alabama hoping to help fight for poor people who cannot afford proper legal representation. Teaming with Eva Ansley, he founds the Equal Justice Initiative, then travels to a prison to meet its death row inmates. He meets Walter "Johnny D." McMillian, an African-American man who was convicted of the 1986 murder of Ronda Morrison, a white woman. Stevenson looks over the evidence in the case and discovers it hinges entirely on the testimony of convicted felon Ralph Myers, who provided highly self-contradictory testimony in exchange for a lighter sentence in his own pending trial.

Brilliant film. Well worth a watch.

8/10

Enola Holmes.

Quite a sweet little period piece. I give it a B.

#alive (6.5/10)

Martyrs (2008) (8/10)

Johnny English Strikes Again (4.5/10)

The Poughkeepsie Tapes (3.5/10)

Blue Velvet (10/10)

The Invisible Man

After staging his own suicide, a crazed scientist uses his power to become invisible to stalk and terrorize his ex-girlfriend. When the police refuse to believe her story, she decides to take matters into her own hands and fight back.

Pretty good. A few twists and turns

7/10

His House.

A refugee couple makes a harrowing escape from war-torn South Sudan, but then they struggle to adjust to their new life in an English town that has an evil lurking beneath the surface.

It was ok, not that great.

5/10

Playing with Fire - 7.5/10 I'm a big John Cena fan he was my favorite superstar growing up and I honestly just enjoy watching his movies or any movies WWE superstars are usually in more than I should. This was a fun little movie that I really enjoyed

Just Go With It - 8/10 I have always seen this movie pop up in the comedy section on Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, but I never took the time to watch it. However, when I did oh man that was a wildly entertaining and hilarious movie.

Jumanji: The Next Level - 9/10 Huge fan of the Jumanji Series and I didn't know if the third installment would be nearly as good as the first two, but for me it lived up and I thoroughly enjoyed this movie.

I was watching the 3rd John Wick movie, I absolutely loved the first 2 I even watched the second one in theatres and it was just great. But man I was really looking forward to watching the 3rd John Wick Movie and I have stopped halfway through it's just not been nearly as good imo, very disappointed with it.

Blumhouse's Fantasy Island

A horror reimagining of the 1977 television series of the same name. The film follows five people who visit the eponymous island, discovering that their dream fantasies brought to life begin to turn into horrific living nightmares they must try to survive.

The idea was good, but the film dragged on a bit too long and the storyline just became strange 4/10

Swipe (short Pakistani animated film) (6/10)

Paths of Glory (9.5/10)

The Night Comes for us (5.5/10)

The Graduate (10/10)

Don't Listen

After the strange death of his young son at their new home, Daniel hears a ghostly plea for help, spurring him to seek out a renowned paranormal expert.

Spanish Horror film.

Pretty good, some decent scary parts.

6/10

I Am Legend (2007)

4/10

Finally gotta around to seeing this, apparently it was a big deal in the 2000s and I only watched it cause conspiracy theorists were tying it to the current pandemic. Honestly didn't like the movie, the ending was boring and unfulfilling and the backstory and character development were weak. I don't understand why its considered a cult classic, guess it's because it's a post-apocalyptic movie with Will Smith and dramatic soundtrack. The only redeeming quality of the movie is the skepticism about viruses and a vaccine and surprisnly the vaccine is sorta like the one Pfizer and Moderna made that uses RNA and changes the dna or something.

The Omega Man (1971) starring Charlton Heston did it better. The protagonist finally realised that as the only ‘normal’ man in a world of vampires, he was the monster not them. Richard Mathieson was a genius SF writer.

Brief Encounter (1945). Just excellent. So sad and so moving, a timeless love story. 10/10.

Life.

Typical alien movie. I give it A-.

I liked the ending.

Interestingly, Calvin only attacked people (and the poor rat) who attacked him first. There was a moment when Ryan Reynolds tried to burn Calvin where it sort of shivered at him, as if to say “Don’t do that”. Then at the end it signals to Jake Gyllenhal in a similar way, as if trying to communicate.

Been insanely busy with a massive project for over 2 months, didn't get chance to spend a couple quality hours with family let alone watching a movie. Now that my deliverables are all submitted and with Christmas coming hoping to have a relaxed December with not much workload coming my way. Gearing up to watch sh#* ton of movies to make up for the months long draught.

There’s more too

Actually I rewatched Trainspotting, eerily beautiful, ventures directly into the No-Go areas of your mind, an absolute British masterclass, they don't make 'em like this anymore. Thanks for the recommendation.

Ha ha then it makes sense now.

I liked him more as a wrestler. Welcome to the Jungle is one of my fav guilty pleasures though lol.

Great list man, except I found Death becomes her to be utter crap, no offence. Gotta watch the 6th one from the top. Can Big Lebowski be considered a dark comedy though?

Lol :)) why not, a lot of them are pretty good.

After betraying the E I was always bitter :mv but if am honest, I feel like his movies are a nuisance in the hollywood industry. I think Bautista has commented on this to and sums up my feelings nicely

Lol it worked out fine The Rock was never the main guy imo in WWE it was always Stone Cold he could have been that guy after Steve retired but you know you can't be mad at the guy for going on and doing what he loved and becoming extremely successful at it. At least John Cena was able to take the torch that had always been handed down from guys like Bruno to Andre to Hulk to Steve Austin to himself. That's more than we can ask from anyone in WWE these days I can't even compare anyone on this roster to John Cena or any of the stars from the previous decade. It's so hard to watch WWE these days with the lack of star power Roman, AJ, and Orton are honestly the only guys I can take seriously these days.

With all the guys like Taker, HBK, HHH, Kurt, Cena, etc guys I grew up watching gone I really can't enjoy WWE like I used to. They making AJ job around these days too like just why, the writing had gotten terrible but at least they had some star power before now they don't even have that.

Lady Vengeance (7.5/10)

The Thing (rewatch) (10/10) What an insanely good movie

Creep 2 (7.5/10) You won’t see me talk a lot about performances in films that I review, but Mark Duplass deserves a lot of credit for carrying these films and having some astonishing screen presence

La Haine (8/10)

Tenet (3/10) Terrible writing containing an embarrassing amount of exposition that even puts Interstellar to shame. A film that is completely shallow with no structure, which jumps from forgettable set piece to forgettable set piece without anything substantial in between. An incoherent mess.

Having finally got round to watching Tenet, I enjoyed it. Not as super-confusing as I had been told to expect either. Had a mental wobble in the mid-film "two mirrors" interrogation scene, where the narrative seemed to move up two gears, but quicky recovered and did okay after that --- just about managed to follow the majority of it. Really enjoyed Robert Pattinson's acting as well, he has improved hugely.

The Gift - A solid psychological thriller about a stalker, it was well made considering directorial debut but the story itself was nothing out of the ordinary or creative. It's good to watch though just for the female lead in my opinion. 7/10

This is an underrated film. Really liked the storyline, the pacing and the twists.

Watched Oppenheimer, think it was amazing and very well done.
