Watched Hacksaw Ridge.

One of the best war movies I have seen. Much better than Dunkirk and even 1917.

I give it A.

I don’t get the hype. Yea it is a technical marvel and all that but apart from that..it’s nothing special.
 
The lovebirds , great first half ,kinda dull second half suited to Netflix. Kumail is going places though comedy is his genre esp playing the awkward brown guy who is funny.

Nice , he has a good sense of humor loved how he handled himself in the green room,his comedy movies are fun to watch incl the one with Bautista, although I might defn give the superhero one a miss esp coz now he is all built and all..
 
If you haven't seen Just Mercy go watch it highly recommend. Based on a true story. It's free to stream now as well on Amazon Prime and Microsoft I think.

Do The Right Thing (10/10) absolute masterpiece and the best movie I’ve ever seen about race relations in America
 
High Noon, the old b/w western. Shot in real time - the ninety minutes start at 10.30 and run out at noon - with influential cinematography.

Gary Cooper won Best Actor for the Sheriff that nobody will back. I give it an A.
 
The End of Evangelion. 10/10. One of the single greatest works of art I’ve ever experienced

Anothet oscar winning gem from iranian director asghar farhadi

A must watch for quality film buffs
 
Da 5 Bloods

Directed by Spike Lee, four African American vets battle the forces of man and nature when they return to Vietnam seeking the remains of their fallen squad leader and the gold fortune he helped them hide.

Very good film.

Loving Vincent

Beautifully made movie about a man trying to retrace Vincent Van Gogh’s final days. Van Gogh’s life was a tragedy. So sad.

At Eternity’s Gate

Another well made movie about Van Gogh starring Willem Dafoe.

Since this is pandemic time I'll suggest a couple dealing with this theme.

Virus (2019) Malayalam movie
Contagion (2011) by Steven Soderbergh
 
Okja.

Some interesting points about the meat industry, but didn’t really cohere. I give it a C+
 
Contagion was a movie ahead of its time. Very good movie now that I have seen it seriously
 
Padington (2014).

I thought it would be average like Sonic the Hedgehog. But, it turned out to be better than that.

I quite liked it. I give it A-.
 
All I have been watching for the past month or so is Ertugrul (wife wouldnt allow to tune into anything else)...
 
Snowden (2016).

It is based on true Snowden story.

I give this movie A+. Acting wasn't that great at times but plot was amazing.
 
Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga.

American musical comedy film directed by David Dobkin and written by Will Ferrell and Andrew Steele. The film follows Icelandic singers Lars Erickssong and Sigrit Ericksdóttir (Ferrell and Rachel McAdams) as they are given the chance to represent their country at the Eurovision Song Contest.

It was ok but I expected it to be better as Ferrell was in it.

I do miss the Cinema :( but first time since the lockdown finally managed to watch a few movies recently:

- The Social Network: I actually had never got around to seeing this before, I think it was very well made, acting was on point as was the execution; you grow to appreciate the vision Mark had even though he came across as a bit of a douche. Overall the plot didn't do it for me though and I would certainly put this in the category of Oscar bait. 7.65/10

-The Big Short: Now this movie was very unique in the way how its narrative conveyed the definition of complex financial instrument, I think many of you would appreciate this ;) beyond that the breaking of the 4th wall and narration was a nice touch to give the plot more depth. Ryan Gosling and Bale were excellent and the dark humour / wit was welcomed throughout, anyone into the crash in 2008 and what it meant for our world will enjoy this true story. 8/10

- Coming to America: Any fans of Eddie Murphy will enjoy this, a nice/fun popcorn flick which has a pretty basic plot if am honest but it remains comedic nevertheless. I mostly enjoyed the conversations in the barber shop, they were extremely hilarious:

I be shocked whenever you watch something decent :yk that movie was class and had a nice feel good vibe to it, elite acting pedigree from the leads. Another one I would see is A Star is Born but it is much darker in tone and highlights issues surrounding severe mental health problems
 
The Platform (El Hoyo) 2019

7.5/10


One of those movies that despite its obvious plot holes stays with you for years. It has one brutal scene, probably the best I've seen in last 3 years.

Highly recommended if you enjoyed Cube (1997).

It was ok. Some scary moments, but it dragged on a bit.

I keep starting it but switch off after 5 minutes...
Haven’t seen the first film and not sure I should do it to myself.

The Core [5/10]

It was an interesting concept, but the movie could have been much better with modern technology.
 
Fatal Affair

A lawyer is caught in a terrifying game of cat and mouse when a drink with an old friend escalates into an obsession that jeopardizes everyone she loves.

Not bad, acting was a bit ropy, but it passed a couple of hours.

Ayyappanum Koshiyum: watched this Movie umpteenth time.. Watched once more just now.. Brilliant movie.. Despite almost 3 hours long you won't be bored in single minute.. Must watch movie..

Sadly it's director passed away last June, he was just 48 years old, was churning out good films.. It was a big blow to our industry..

After watching this i did some digging on the files that were released by the CIA. One thing that was really freaky was that the diary that Osama bin Laden was using as his journal, that small journal was bough from Idris Book Bank from Saddar, as the scan images of that journal had the store sticker on it.
That was freaky, i get my books usually from there.

Escape from alcatraz:
It was old one, but quite good. I first thought it was a copy of Shawshank redemption, which it was somewhat

Pink Pather 1 and 2.

na the other way around that maybe shawshank redemption was a copy of it.

Than again both movies are based on novels, but there is too much similarity.
