Joker is quite average in my opinion. Looks very shallow, and quite a hero making out of a villain. Or maybe I went with very high expectations.

Jesus Christ, didn't you get sick of all the Marvel movies lmao I can't stand them, pure over kill and over saturation, they are all Ivan Drago's, manufactured movies with the same tone/style/narrative just new faces etc

To be fair, Marvel movies are not my most favorite movies. I prefer comedy more. I would say I love movies like Borat, The Dictator etc. Sacha Baron Cohen is my favorite actor.

After comedy, I prefer action movies. I really loved John Wick and Mission Impossible.

I absolutely hate horror movies and it is why you can't see any horror movie on my list.

Now You See Me is not my #1. That list doesn't have any order. I added everything randomly.

Marvel is no longer the same for me after they killed off Iron-Man and Captain America. Those two were the main draws for me.

Just finished watching Message Man. It is a low-key Aussie film but I liked it. It reminds me of John Wick.

I am now watching Cold Pursuit.

Repeat watch, man.

I watched Infinity War in theatre when it first came out. Same with Endgame. I forgot some of the details so I watched those again.

Jesus man, who forced you to ? be honest, I may be able to help if there is someone holding you hostage :yk3

Infinity War wasn't too bad. I loved it. Possibly the best Marvel movie of all time.

Endgame wasn't as good as Infinity War but I liked the last scene where Avengers and their allies faced Thanos and his army.

This scene was really good.

This scene was really good.

I think they are both trash and horrendous, I wouldn't classify them as movies in my opinion.

Halloween (2018)

Pretty poor.

This is now way passed its sell by date and they should let it lie.

3/10.

Just finished watching Law abiding citizen, too much violence and the characters weren't developed enough.

I still don't get why people rate jamie foxx so highly .

Harriet, so disappointing, could had been amazing but the movie had no soul and acting that would be appreciated in 60s..

6/10

Finished watching Cold Pursuit. It is a low-key movie but I liked the plot.

I may now watch The Bouncer.

Terminator dark fate 7/10 shaz619 , not as impressive as first 2 but among others its pick of the lot, start was awesome but sadly the girl Dani who is the Sarah Connor isn't as good as an actor as Sarah and seems like the token Latina , so it didn't add well.

Good humor and some actually good CGI the retro Terminator Music but could had easily been better, James Cameron even as a producer does amazing but the director is what is needed.

Finished watching The Bouncer. It is not a masterpiece but it was alright. I give it B-.

I am now watching The Vanishing.

Joker

I really liked it. At times it drags and could have been a more interesting story if there was some kind of character arc like he was not that screwed up before. Just someone with mental health issues and then the disappointments of life made him slide into this character. But he is shown to be a looney toon right from the get go. Also, hard to say why the young Batman story was so prominently featured into the movie unless sequels are in the process. However, just cant imagine Joaquin agreeing to any sequels (will he shed this much weight again). Its not a perfect movie and is only a reflection of its biggest influence, Scorsese's Taxi Driver. But its the best thing that has hit the big screen all year. I am surprised by the negative reviews from critics though. Everyone has become so socially conscious, so woke, so politically correct. Its stifling any artistic expression or digressions. Trump derangement syndrome I guess. Oscar for Joaquin should be a sure shot though.

As it is open to many interpretations, what is yours regarding the general chaos around the ending part? Mine would be that it was all a figment of his imagination given as answers to therapist. I don't even know that is viable or not. All n all confused.

That's an interesting interpretation. I felt the chaos at the end was real and a consequence of societal inequities which first found a voice through Joker's murder of the 3 waspy men on the train and later exploded after he murdered the talk show host on live TV.

Driven.

Story of John DeLorean. Brilliant movie. His car flopped primarily because it was unreliable, this is depicted superbly in Back to the Future.

Great watch.

Midsommor

Brutal, bizarre, trippy, surreal & horror. This movie has it all. Beautifully shot. It is an experience, a acquired taste. But it kept me hooked. Not for the light hearted. Destined to become a cult classic in yrs to come. 8/10

Ari Aster & Robert Eggers are this generation’s true horror artists. Looking forward to more of their work.

I agree with your review, this was by far the best Terminator since 1 and 2 very easily; was always going to be tough to top arguably some of the greatest action movies ever but it was a very sincere effort which stayed true to its roots. I tried not to get caught up in the new empowerment phenomena and tried to judge the casting objectively but you are right, it could have been one of the quota's as far as Dani was concerned, however the half human / half cyborg woman was pretty good in my view; she did a very good job. Because the first 2 did so well and sort of enhance his legacy I feel as if he wanted to protect that then risk taking complete control of this movie but feel like he would have made a difference, the director here did a solid job overall I can't criticise him overly as he gave us a solid movie when others failed before him post Cameron. The idea behind this movie was also to launch a reboot, but not sure if those plans will remain because the current Box Office numbers are below forecast.

Have you seen the Sarah Conor TV series ? that seems to be highly rated, I remember an uproar when it was cancelled, that was prior to the boom period in entertainment but surely someone would pick it up now.

I enjoyed it the movie overall though a lot more then any of the childish Marvel movies this year. A solid narrative, great action sequences and the old cast had you emotionally invested, liked the creative spin on the new villains capabilities and the augmented human to fight him was pretty cool to. The movie also benefited from the modern technology and it was a bit more gritty in tone which I liked, they could have gone for a more compelling ending for Arnold / Sarah but they may have stopped going all out in that regard due to the planned sequels which we might not see

Naw i didn't see the tv series, but you expect such nonsense from Fox, if firefly and (freaks and geeks) can be cancelled I believe anything can be cancelled.

I enjoyed it because of old characters as well and Grace was actually pretty remarkable and solid character compared to Dani ..
Somehow Saraha Connor is a very good actor and the way she has ages bitter and tough is amazing story of its own.. which i guess they tried through a tv series..

I usually watch movies every week but I’m particularly looking forward to ford va ferrari and knives out for NoV anything else on the list?

I agree they did a great job of weaving past character arcs with the present one, they weren't just there for the old hits / nostalgia, that plays a part but they added value as well. I'd love to see more of Grace moving forward if they continue it

Yes! am excited for ford v ferrari, you may do already but for further backstory there's a special episode on the grand tour called Happy Finnish Christmas which covers the historic 24 hours of Le Mans rivalry between Ford and Ferrari; the trailer gave me goosebumps! this should so good! genuinely hyped.

I will be seeing Doctor Sleep soon, it is out currently; this is definitely one to add to the list. Besides this in the winter we all will probably see Star Wars and when it comes to animation there will be a high profile release for Frozen 2, may you know take the lil sibling jobbers to see this not for me own pleasure at all :yk

In my neck of the woods lighthouse is not out yet, another key horror release; man the genre has been having a very nice little purple patch over the past few years.

I am yet to see Midsommar, had been awaiting for the DVD release it is out now, missed out on seeing it in the Cinemas

Terminator DF

Serviceable action movie with great effects. It’s basically a rehash of T2. I they should put a lid on this tired franchise.

Creatively it was a solid release and welcome return to form, the best since 1 and 2; it wasn't a rehash of 2, they expanded the narrative in the part 2 time line actually. The only that will stop further releases is the poor box office performances.

What I find hilarious though is idiots have an issue with this solid release but will never complain about that childish bull crap from Marvel and their repeated releases which are all similar in vein, the same folk would do multiple bhangra's over the last few Avengers, I spit on those movies tbh

Most Marvel movies are just average. Iron Man 1, Winter Soldier & Infinity War are my personal fav’s.

Couldn't agree more. Amazing film, really been a silent revival of the horror genre this past few years. So hyped for 'Antlers' coming next year.

shaz619 I saw Doctor Shining and it feels the director was trying to please Stephen King and The Shining movies fans I didn’t lose interest in the movie and was always looking to what happens next but assuming you read the book how was it for you?

The VVitch (gets better with every viewing)
Taxi Driver
Godfather 1 & 2

I watched this today, the thing is Mike was in a unique situation; he had to account for people who read the shining and doctor sleep novel but also watched the shining movie; with that in mind he did a great job weaving all those narratives into one by taking their best elements. The eerie supernatural element from the books was there and the suspense from Kubric's movie. In terms of an adaptation he did King's work justice to in my view and it was a viable sequel to the movie as well. I liked the revisit to the Overlook, the scenes were booked similar to the final quarter of the Shining novel with Dan replacing his father instead. My admiration for Mike's technical ability just keeps going up, he is a master in this genre and really really good at what he does / great awareness of his audience. However, a criticism for this movie could be that in the final 1/4 or so they could have focused more on the premise they set out with surrounding steam, rose, abra and dan / ignored the shining movie altogether but overall I enjoyed it

It is cool to watch this on your own in the dark of night :yk

Just watched Captain Marvel. Didn't watch before.

I consider it as the worst MCU movie of all time. Ending was really lame.

I liked it too. Really bizarre.

The message I got from the movie was that contemporary and modern societies have failed and people living in them are lonely, depressed and lost. The close knit community shown in that movie despite being primitive and barbaric at times, still functions as a better model of a community and society than our current modern system. Its so hard to make that argument in a movie without looking like a fool. Kudos to Ari Aster for his brilliance, vision and guts. A true auteur.

Dr.Sleep

I'm not sure what other fans of Shining are thinking about this movie but I was disappointed. It was too commercial and mainstream for my liking. I missed Kubrick's weird eccentricities. The new movie does copy some of the camera tricks of the Shining like the tracking shots and the camera aping the axe movements, but they seemed like copies. No originality, no fun. The only moment of interest was when the movie goes back to the Overlook Hotel but that eventually got ruined as well when all the characters of the Hotel started attacking the villain like Zombies. Just a complete let down.

absolute must for any car fun, brilliant racing sequences, gorgeous cars, awesome sound editing and a decent script to boot.

Blinded by the Light

Not the most well made movie and clearly had a low budget but has a very interesting story based loosely on the life of Sarfraz Manzoor

Basically about a British Pakistanis boy in the 1980s facing skinhead and going through an identity crisis who goes through a self discovery process through the music of Bruce Springsteen.

Wouldn’t put high on anyone’s list but def worth a watch
