Drive - Ryan Gosling is amazing but there was nothing new in the film. Despite that it still kept me gripped

Warrior - Wow! What a film! Can't stop raving about it. Was really shocked at how good it was did not expect that from the trailer. Great film which everyone should watch"

Indian PPers Sasriyakaal + Wazzzzzzzzzzzzzup?

My mother recommended me to watch this show called "Crime Patrol"

Would you guys say it's a good show? She was telling me you should watch this, will teach you valuable lessons, but then again she also used to watch Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu thi to Kutumb (I kind of liked Kutumb myself :butt when I was a kid :amir )

Well anyway, recommend me some other good Indian shows. Thanks folks!

depends on what your concept of nice is...

it is mostly picturization of solved real life crime cases and as such is decent without the extra melodrama and other stuff.

basically a fact based crime story which tells us what mistakes the victims made

Its a good show.based on real crimes that are commited.shows whats happening in India.some r spine chilling episodes.as they say truth is stranger than fiction.recently they showed the baby Falak case which was quite good

No. I tend to avoid them in general (recent strategy really:asif). Seriously, I only ask so that I can have a good idea of its content. If a certain film contains any sort of such stuff, I try to avoid it myself.

Two cancer ridden pensioners who are given months to live share a hospital room and decide to go on a journey partaking in several adventures before they die

Ok run of the mill film, the chemistry between Nicholson and Freeman is good but they essentially play the same characters they are known for Theres not much in the script for them to play and get their teeth into!

Essentially a film made for nicholson and freeman fans

Velu Nayakan

Kamal Hassan plays the character title of a boy from south india who grows up in a mumbai slum amidst violence and in trying to survive and do good for himself and his people the lines between good and bad become murky at a great personal cost to him

Brilliant storyline and acting from hassan, the film has elements of the godfather in it
However the low budget quality of the film and the poor supporting acts is a shame and takes a lot away from the film

Harry Brown

Michael Caine plays an elderly lonely pensioner living in a down ridden housing block who together with his neighbours is terrorised on a daily basis by gangs of troubled youths causing havoc and violence

This film is in the mould of gran torino It starts off very nicely and sets the scene brilliantly
with caine immense as the angry/scared pensioner. However the storyline takes an unlikely turn halfway into it and become preposterous

Watch it for caine

watched 'the woman in black' few days ago, was a good horror, the concept was taken from the 'the orphanage' with different setting. still watchable.

As Expected Vidya Balan Strikes Again with Kahaani....Some reviews

On the whole, KAHAANI works big time because Vidya Balan makes it come alive. It is several notches above the stuff we've been subjected to in the past. The movie triumphs in evoking emotions. You experience compassion, resentment, defenselessness and triumph at a variety of stages. A wonderful movie-going experience, you come out feeling a sense of pride, pleasure and fulfillment after having watched KAHAANI. Just do not miss it. Hugely recommended!

Incidentally what seems to be a human drama at first glance is smartly moulded into a suspense-thriller. Vidya Balan has the gravitas to excel in a role that requires her to be sensible, adamant, sharp, vulnerable and pregnant. Like she's done with every subsequent release, Balan replaces the memory of her last performance (The Dirty Picture) with a sparkling new one. It's not a showy, act-out-loud delivery and that's what makes it so seamless.

And even though Kahaani is designed around her, her co-actors are just as impressive. Parambrata's gentle countenance and measured delivery as someone with an obvious soft corner is an ode to understatement. On the other hand, Nawazuddin Siddiqui's caustic tone and humorless disposition conveys unpleasant in its most memorable avatar.

Sly, gripping and taut, Kahaani is much too enjoyable to find flaws. This is, without doubt, Sujoy Ghosh's best work so far. Go watch it.

I just watched "Paan Singh Tomar".

Wonderful movie. Brilliant hold on audience. Irfaan Khan once again provided that class of acting.

I would recommend everyone who likes hard hitting stories. This is based on a real story too.

Thanks for the advice folks, apparently they have episodes in youtube, I have been pretty hooked, some of the stories are pretty interesting and I was shocked last episode I watched one of the girl was a brilliant student with great results and A + student and she joined a scumbag into plotting and murdering someone. Have to say this is a great show and with a strong message.

The anchor has a good voice :imran gets me involved throughout the show also good acting by the actors, they always make me feel it's real and pissed off me at times.

Need a separate thread to discuss Crime Patrol episodes.
 
Martha Marcy May Marlene.

All I will say is, the youngest of the Olsen sisters is by far the best actress.

I downloaded this movie few months ago and quality wise it was good but the ending was kinda weird.

Or I downloaded the incomplete video? can you share your thoughts on its ending?

gosling and clooney were great in it, but the story didnt have the punch i was hoping for, without ruining too much you can roughly guess how the stories going to pan out from two or three possible generic endings, still a decent film. 7/10

Spoiler Alert for Martha Marcy May Marlene

If it ends with her driving away in the backseat of her sisters car, then it was the complete version.

I thought it was quite open-ended.

Kinda shows how paranoid she really was. Kinda also makes you think whether the guy she sees when swimming, and then guy Ted almost runs over with his car are the same person (i.e. the same person that ends up driving behind them).

It does look like his car at the end also.

Thanks mate. Actually movie which I downloaded did not have any credits in the end so I thought I missed something. Movie was brilliant though.
 
Just saw a bollywood movie 'Kahaani'

Absolutely mind blowing script, direction, cinematography, editing! Quite surprised to see such gem from Bollywood. One of the best thrillers in a while. 9/10 from me. Highly highly recommended. Story is based on Calcutta from the Bengal part of India

Yeah, Watched It last Week. Brilliant...Vidya Balan is sure to get one more national Award. Movie is doing great at BO as well...
 
Material ... 8/10

Has been one of South Africa's most popular movies this few weeks. Expected to see a comedy, but got more of a drama with a touch of comedy and romance.

Story is about a muslim family with family conflicts. Movie about harem and hiding things from the family. Good ending.

Quite interesting. Hope it makes it to the international scene.

Agent Vinod Review

Went to the movie today afternoon.

Movie is about a Raw Agent who is on a mission to find what 242 is and how it is related to India..and Stop it. Basically that is the movie..

Saif Ali Khan works as an Agent..and so does Kareena Kapoor. Movie has quite a few brilliantly done scenes and some scenes which drag quote a bit.....Action scenes were Good!!!!!! Don 2 and Agent Vinod are good steps by bollywood in increasing the standard of action scenes...cinematography was top notch

Songs were misplaced. Screenplay could have been better...

Production values were high...movie basically covers...Morocco,Afghanistan,Pakistan,Latvia,Russia, South Africa, Somalia and India( I may have missed a few too)

Even Though the movie works for me....could have been better!!

Has the potential to turn into a successfull Franchise.

Rating: 7/10


**** SPOILERS : For People who wants to know about Pakistan in the movie and have no interest in watching the movie

First of all the movie is not Jingoistic like Gaddar ..but if people want to get offended they can easily get offended. Some Points..

1. ISI Supports Lashkare

2. ISI Chief meets with 3rd most wanted person in the world for a deal.

3. ISI Chief offers Saif Ali Khan beer when Saif asks him..before that Saif says.. " Ek Beer Chahiye..I am sure you can get it"

4. Osama Bin Laden's Photo is on one the walls in Afghanistan

5. Pakistan's Ambassoder to India makes a few calls and comes with some important information India needs...which indicates he or some govt officials are linked to terrorist Organization.

6. Pak Military is shown providing Security to the 3rd most wanted man when he comes to attend a marriage(not sure if they are normal polices)

7. Kareena Kapoor's Friends(British Pakistanis) used her to set a bomb in London.

8. Good ISI chief is Killed by the Bad one....


I may have easily missed a few.....

. Having Said that..You will be suprised to see who the main Villian is(not pakistani).....and also Kareena Kapoor and 2 other good pakistanis are present..and

So I Believe pak had its reasons for Banning the movie..however a movie abt Raw agent not involving Pak would be a little silly!!!!

saw senna last night, what a docu, what a guy. really well done, and the director went to the same secondary school as me.
 
Vidya Balan's Kahaani is in the 19th place in the top 50 thrillers of all time in Imdb... THE Best thriller done by Bollywood by miles..trailer in 2nd post of this page!!!Watch it..Vidya deserves more accolades for this than Dirty picture(which was good too)

Haha, just realised you recommended this movie on the previous page. I actually had been waiting for a long while to watch this, then got the copy of my friend and watched it. Thought it was fantastic. The ending was brilliant!

Why do you think a content is always bad if it can not be seen with family ?

They are two different things.

You may not be comfortable with watching a person being hit by many villagers with other kids in family. But that doesn't mean that its a wrong content. :)

Similarly a intimate scene between a couple may make you uncomfortable to watch with parents but doesn't mean the content should be avoided as an adult.

So sex is different than vulgarity, unneccesary violence is different than a scene showing human anger.

I didn´t quite put my question rightly. I, of course, mean to ask about sexuality, vulgarity etc. Violence, drug and smoking scenes are fine.

The problem here is not about a couple being together in their bedroom, because you realize it immediately and can skip it with a hint being obviously there.

Problem arises when words such as 'condom' are used repeatedly. Some films have a story line which is bound to contain such scenes and references and that is what I avoid. Sometimes, females in the film not covering themselves throughout the film also causes problems. Occasionally, such contents being there for a few minutes is okay since you can skip it but not the entire film or it being basically the theme/topic of a film.

Good film and great cast. Well acted especially by penn and robbins The ending left a bit to be desired tho Not eastwoods greatest but a quality film nontheless

Bit overlong, Starts off slow but ends but brilliantly. Stick with it, its rewarding

what a joke, its not even the best indian thriller, i am sure all the votes must have come from india :facepalm: . kahani was an ok effort but had plotholes you could drive a truck through, was 30 mts too long, disappointing after all the hype.

+1, from the trailer it looked kina 'meh', but I actually enjoyed, hoping to read the books soon.
 
Elite Squad 2 (Brazilian movie). 9/10. Loved every bit of it. Didn't disappoint.

Yup saw it recently...gritty & awesome. City of God is still my favorite Brazillian movie though. Also recommend Australian movie: Red Hill

Recently saw The Warrior's Way ....western/sword fighting..very stylishly done sword fighting
 
Drive. Dumb and pointless movie.

Planet of Apes.. ehh it was an avg movie, not as great as i thought it would be.

30 minutes or less. Turned it off half way through.

21 Jump street HILARIOUS!! laughed out loud alot
