watched The Departed last night. very good movie - Nicholson, Dicaprio, Damon, Director Scorcesse

Departed is a good movie...but imo the original Infernal Affairs is much better...one of my favourite movies actually...and it comes as a trilogy...very good set of movies...

Watched a few films recently - some good some poor

The Cabin in the woods - (2012)

Good twist to the old saga, was entertaining and enjoyable Defo worth a watch

8/10

How i spent my summer vacation (2012)
Starring mel gibson this is a surprisngly more than decent film. light hearted, humourus and violent film, mel gibson does a great job

8/10

Killer Joe (2012)

Dark, gruesome, with black comedy, this is one of my top 5 films of the year

The cast was brilliant and some epic stomach turning scenes - i ll never eat a chicken leg again!!

9/10

Some other films ive seen lately included

- the source (6/10)
- Friend (korean) (7/10)
- Battleship (4/10)
- The expendables (6/10)

Just watched it again. How impatiently I waited for it to be out on DVD is something only I can tell.

To add to the review above, please allow me to say: "The great Bollywood film ever!" I am not in any mood to debate this.

This film´s IMDB page (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2082197/) says.....

"Three young people learn that love can neither be defined nor contained by society's norms of normal and abnormal."

There is not a better description than this:)! Not a film but poetry:bow:!

i liked it too but the SRK movie was absolute crap .

'Jab Tak Hai Jaan' (Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif, Anushka Sharma, Anupam Kher)

Currently, it has an IMDB rating of 7.8 - masses out there are out of there mind:boom:! Not a single passage of 10 minutes made any sense:facepalm:! Worst part was that promise to 'Mr. Jesus':boom:!

I will give it:
What should I give it.....?

^^^ Probably the weakest Yash chopra movie as per script. Music was a big big let down.

Just to add further, it´s all well and fine for a film with such star-cast to earn money since everyone wishes to watch it, including anyone like me, but then to give positive reviews is a big, big disappointment on part of 'fans' out there.

I was going to download it,now I wont,thanks Dhoni n JustCrzy:)

Another thing, most of the times, PPers´ reviews are more reliable than those of experts and fans on other films-related websites.

People are only really appreciated after their death. Sad but true. In this case overcompensation for their guilt :kami

Watched Talaash last night starring Amir Khan, Rani Mukherjee and Kareena Kapoor.

Really enjoyed it.

Not your usual Bollywood flick 8/10.

Nice. Folks, Saj´s reviews are helpful as I have discovered with time:19:.

Sunshine
DVD copy this time, much better than when I first watched it :afridi
Great movie 8.5/10

Talaash - one time watch but not your usual bollywood stuff storywise.

it is fair to say that Kareena Kapoor is a female version of Aamir Khan. I liked her acting in the movie.

She is just getting better in each movie acting wise.

7/10

Saw a Korean flick Pieta...quite raw...and its a different approach from other movies on showing the effects of capitalism...I liked it...but can imagine it being hit or miss...

Son of Sardar...just shows you how indian cinema is going down the drain...thanks to all these stupid masal movies. Started from dabang tbh.

Have to watch the real actor Amir khan who actually acts in REAL movies. None of that masala bs.

'Talaash' 2012 (Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Rani Mukherjee)

What a fantastic film:14:! Won't reveal much as it will take away the suspense. Bollywood doesn't produce many such films, does it?

Aamir Khan - take a bow:bow:!

Some people may not like the ending though, but I liked it:).

Watched LINCOLN. Daniel Day Lewis was brilliant. Definitely in Oscars contention.

9/10....if you are a riveting drama connoisseur, this movie will surprise you. If you enjoy movies aimed at uneducated worthless masala types, you will not appreciate this movie.

Talaash- utter tosh except for the cinematography. the twist in the end could be seen coming from a mile off and was a total copout. the last scene was corny as hell . screenplay was terrible. Aamir looked constipated throughout the movie, Rani and KK were OK. 5/10 mainly for the visuals of bombay -maximum city .

maybe you prefer to watch ek tha tiger type of movies.

mindless action, expressionless acting etc

Had it been a "memento", it would have grabbed rave reviews by some Indians.

I just a watched absolute rubbish film, just wasted £10 and precious time of my life on khiladi 786

It was full of garbage, that I how could describe this crap and Garbage.

No sense and no story

there was nothing in that film, except crap

you mean ghajini ( blatantly and hilariously) plagiarizing memento , and Talaash getting its basic premise from Sixth sense :)))

instead of the pretentious plagiarized tosh like these 2 movies i would take a homegrown authentic "gangs of wasseypur "anyday.

aamir has 2 expressions in talaash, constipated, sad, and a combination thereof :)

I am used to watching so much tosh these days...Talaash sounded like a real deal....at least it was not boring at all...

I am all set to watch this.......Watching my second movie in 4 or 5 months .....Hoping that it would be good....

Talaash was good movie...movies like it rarely comes out of bollywood...instead we have son of sardar which was pathetic pathetic pathetic...utter garbage

John Carter; average, could have been real good if come out before Avatar

Talaash is really good.. End is kinda shocking. I will give it a 8/10... Aamir Khan did it yet again...

Jab Tak Hai Jaan was okay... Music was awesome.... I will give it a 6.5/10... Yash Chopra could have done better.. Acting was still good by Srk and Anushka...

Son of Sardaar was well..... crappy... They thought it would be fun to watch but it did not make any sense to me... movies like this bring down the quality of a cinema.... 5/10.... Ajay Devgn can do much much better than this...

also watched planet of the apes(2001)..it was ok...though I heard the original one was classic!

Now, I do not mind indian movies being a little 'illogical', ie Rowdy Rathore - Dabangg. They are after all 'masala' films.

Jab tak hai Jaan.... what is this supposed to be? For one, it claims not to be a 'dumb' film, but was not exactly entertaining either.

A couple of pointers though...

Shahrukh Khan is known as the 'man who cannot die'. As cheesy as this sounds, he becomes an army bomb disposal expert within a few years after leaving his girlfriend hoping he will get killed because he sees no reason to live on. My question is, why did he just not run himself under a bus??? Without a helmet that is.

2nd, this may be just be due to a difference in mentality but i could not get my head round this. He falls in love with Katrina Kaif, but insists she needs to smoke and go clubbing. Does he want a wife or a bird?

3rd, she seems ok her mum was having an affair behind her dads back and then left her when she was 12 because she was bored raising a child. Is it me or is that just not on????

The other girl seems to want to sleep with a guy from every continent. Maybe im just backward... but that screams slag to me... and the hero still wants her?

Anyway, though im not into this kind of movie, i though id watch it because Yash Chopra films tend to be a bit high on drama. This was bland. I have watched all of his directed movies, this was the worst.

Anyways, has anyone here seen the Campaign? Highly recommended. Must be one of the most underrated movies of the year. Hilarious

I think I am backward too perhaps for this world, but I agree with most of your post with a two parts being highlighted. Pretty much the reason why I did not appreciate film 'Rockstar' 2011 much.

khiladi was bound to be a disaster...don't understand how could some of you guys watch it .? though that hookah bar song was good

Akshay Kumar thought he had something going after he starred in Singh is King.

I dont know of a decent (or a hit) movie he has given since then!

yup he has failed to live up the expectations after that..I love his acting in heraferi type movies..he use to stole the show back then

You are not backward it is just that bollywood is just imitating hollywood movies for a storyline and your eyes are closed about it.

My eyes aren´t closed about it, my friend:). Even if I watch a Hollywood once in a blue Moon, I discover quite soon whilst reading people´s reviews etc., and sometimes some awesome plot and storyline gives that 'plagiarism' feeling' immediately;-).

Human Centipede...

What a waste of time...awful movie...it wasn't even particularly gruesome...it was just terrible...

Pusher

Good movie...a gritty drugs movie with a straightforward plot...nothing flashy but thats a positive...well worth a watch...also get to see a young Le Chiffre as a novice drug dealer...

The Experiment
Good movie. Shows how people, although good in nature can turn evil when they have power/authority over others. 7/10

Pakistan in Bangladesh 1971
India in Kashmir
Abu Ghrab
etc.

The original is a brilliant movie...Das Experiment...also recommend 'The Wave' which is another movie which looks at the effects of authority over normal people...Germany seems to produce a few of these films and does them very well...

Blow out 1981

watched today....Awesome movie.......old movies are just simple in story line yet not boring at all.

John Travolta played a regular guy role quite well...full marks for his acting

The dictator - awful 2/10. I had high hopes for it but was let down badly.

Raid redemption - 7/10. Was good but I think I need more to a film than just straight up violence !

Will be watching the killer tonight. A really influential movie that has been sampled extensively by one of my favourite rappers.

Dracula (1992) - Good movie and very close to the novel, 8/10. Gary Oldman has to be the greatest actor alive along with Robert De Niro and DDL.

Argo (2012) Good movie but too much American propaganda, CIA did not help out the hostages, Canadians did! 8/10

Lawless (2012) - Good Western gangster movie with great performances from the cast. 8/10

End of Watch (2012) - 9/10. Amazing movie that moved me. Great performances.

A Separation

Set in contemporary Iran, A Separation is a compelling drama about the dissolution of a marriage. Simin wants to leave Iran with her husband Nader and daughter Termeh. Simin sues for divorce when Nader refuses to leave behind his Alzheimer-suffering father. Her request having failed, Simin returns to her parents' home, but Termeh decides to stay with Nader. When Nader hires a young woman to assist with his father in his wife's absence, he hopes that his life will return to a normal state. However, when he discovers that the new maid has been lying to him, he realizes that there is more on the line than just his marriage

The Ides of March

The Ides of March takes place during the frantic last days before a heavily contested Ohio presidential primary, when an up-and-coming campaign press secretary (Ryan Gosling) finds himself involved in a political scandal that threatens to upend his candidate's shot at the presidency.

bakwaas is an understatement.I dont know how it was so successful:facepalm:

Wrong Turn 4
2/10

Utter crap  You know a horror movie is in trouble when you root for the villains to off the protagonists. Protagonists were totally useless and when they had the golden opportunity to kill all of them, they had this moral epiphany. I can get past the bad acting, unnecessary(Though not unwelcome :) ) sex scenes, some moronic decision making by the people we are supposed to root for, but I can't get past characters who seem to have done Masters in Moronology.

I am of the opinion that if I can point plotholes and stupidity of characters, then the movie is REALLY bad. Villains were sadistic but atleast they were better than our useless protagonists. I was supporting them so atleast they will clean up the gene pool, one moron at a time.
