Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind - 8/10 decent rom com with a very creative structure and premise
Ah yes , Requiem for a dream. Its a cult movie.
But i think its just one of his good works. Have you watched Dallas buyer's club?? Jared and matthew mcconaughey have killed it. I think its jared's best work.
His joker is fine imo. The problem was that the movie wasn't about him.
Just came back after watching my most awaited movie in recent times. Silence. Martin Scorsese is my favourite director of all time and while this may not be my favourite Scorsese movie, it is probably his most flawless and powerful. Amazing movie. Official release was in 2016 and it is probably the best movie of the year just edging past la la land for me. Scorsese never does anything wrong and Andrew Garfield continues to impress. It had some very disturbing scenes and was often difficult to watch. There was a lot of realistic gore and torture sequences. Great movie though and everyone should watch it. Some may not like it because of the highly controversial subject matter.
It's a boxoffice disaster
Wonder Why? Maybe because of bold part
I remember watching this movie in my teens. To this day, its one of the most intriguing premises of a movie I've ever seen.
Been nearly a decade since I watched it and I still often wonder what it would be like to erase the memory of one person from your life.
Bethlehem...
Israeli flick about a Shin Bet handler and his Palestinian collaborator...one of the better presentations of the Israel/Palestinian conflict out there....
Come to think of it...the Palestinians and Israelis tend to make better stuff regarding their situations...I saw 'An Honourable Woman' not long ago and thought it was awful...every Israeli and Arab was essentially a caricature...
It depends doesn't it, if there was someone you loved so dearly and it was never going to work out or they ended up throwing you off the Cell bah gawwd then maybe long term it would be worth itbecause you'd be able to move forward with no knowledge of the burial, you wouldn't lose your smile you'd remain the main-event! the showstoppa! the stylin profilin Anchorman! and breaker of hearts!
Some defeats are just hard to recover from so I guess it can be a benefitbut at the same time you'd be losing all the good moments associated with the person in question, everything got a price! money! money! money!!! lol not sure how the million dollar man analogy works here
Decent movie though, what are the best rom coms you have ever seen bud?
Check out Omar..Palestanian movie

I agree that it's a massive trade-off, and that's what makes the story so interesting. I still believe the movie could have been a lot better though as it had one of the best premises of all time like we discussed.
I'll have to think about that. Rom-coms are one of my favorite genres so here goes.
500 Days of Summer
The Spectacular Now
Safety Not Guaranteed (Very interesting premise, low budget but hits just the right notes, along with having one of my favorite endings of all time)
Ruby Sparks
Silver Linings Playbook (not the best, but I still remember it, so it must have had some good parts. All I remember right now is Jennifer Lawrence's sporting yoga pants through out which was worth it)
Knocked Up
Crazy Stupid Love
There are probably tens more but these are the ones I can think of right now. What If (The F word) was another good one and if you enjoyed that then you will enjoy Sleeping with Other People and Man up as well.
Talking about purely romantic movies, nothing comes close to Linklater's Before series. Nothing.
I agree felt the same way, was left wanting more perhaps the finishing stretch could have been better.
Ooooh I likey, a few on that list which I've not seen. Will give Safety a watch, yes! I watched that a few weeks ago! The F word, it really surprised me; wasn't expecting it to be all that but I loved the quirky feel to it. Midnight in Paris is another decent one you should check out!
It's a boxoffice disaster
Wonder Why? Maybe because of bold part
Maybe because Leo wasn't part of it could be the reason,Andrew has not been well received by American audiences.
Not a big fan of Midnight in Paris tbh. Have you seen the Before series?
shah_1 also at this point Scorsese just doesnt give a damn about the box office or what people think. He knows that he is the greatest director of all time and he is gonna make what he likes no matter how controversial or offensive it may be to some.
Have you seen moulin rouge from 2001? it's not your favourite genre but it's worth checking out, with the critical acclaim of La La Land I remembered that movie watched it a while back
Ive seen it and liked it
I liked it because one of the leads was a writer and am into the art of producing the perfect promoand the premise was a bit unusual, no not seen the before series
Missing out on the greatest romantic trilogy of all time. Read up on some of the history behind it as well to appreciate it more. Shot over 30 years!
Is this the movie
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Before_Sunrise#Production
?
Wow 30 years! am intrigued, I have Boyhood on me laptop to but am yet to see it, I believe it was shot over a decade but 30 is unreal
Remarkable triology a movie a decade,Ethan Hawke is really underestimate but that's his own fault.
The way they handled the movies is so amazing, its tad too realistic and first one still is my fav.
aliasad1998 have u seen the Before triology?
Tom Cruise is like that to, phenomenal actor who rather star in C level comedies and action flicks when his range is a lot more versatile then that. He's basically Hollywood's SRK in a way when you look at how he started his career and after that it was more about the money rather then making a good movie which allowed the likes of Leonardo to surpass him, I guess you can't blame him for that but I expected more from him in the 2000's and besides The Last Samurai and Collateral he has not really indulged in genre's beyond comedy/action
Yes ,some people prefer fame over stardom Ethan Hawke is on the other end of the spectrum from Tom, there needs to be a balance and I think someone like Matt Damon,Tom Hanks have understood that better than most.

Anyone who think Leto is not an exceptional actor needs to be shown Dallas Buyer's club. McConaghuey was exceptional as well. That scene when he's in the car alone shook me to my core.
the raid redemption
7/10
a few policemen raid a gangster's building but get trapped inside, mainly because they were led to underestimate him by the one leading them. The whole movie is about how they try to find their way out while an entire army of goons tries to hunt them.
amazing movie for action lovers. liked it very much.
If anyone is looking for foreign films try "Elite Squad 1 &2 Brazil" "City of God" again brazil.
There is a part 2 as well, not as good as first one but still great.Did you see the English version Dredd pretty BAD azz as well.
Hanna (2011)...great movie
no i havent. but i will because i liked this one very much. thanks for mentioning it to me.
City of god is an amazing movie. One of the best foreign films of all time.
Part 2 is good but it will disappoint you after the thrill ride that was the first one
What do u think of La la land? I downloaded it and will probably watch later.
That's his fav movie mate, created a thread for it as well.
Just saw XXX : Return of Xander cage today morning in IMAX 3D..
Basically the Fast 5 formula (wafer thin plot + mindless action+ crazy stunts + exotic locales+multi racial cast) applied on the XXX franchise (Not very successfully though..!)
Big bald rebel guy gets hired by US intelligence - Assembles team of talented rookies - travels the world to cause mayhem everywhere - and kicks the villain's ***.. .
Vin Diesel plays a less grumpy, more talkative dominic torreto who tries too hard to be a 'murican James Bond (the Roger Moore variety to be more exact) .
He clearly doesn't have the physicality/action chops to pull off the stunts (too old maybe). A fact that is exacerbated by having guys like Donnie Yen & Tony Jaa killing it in their scenes.
Donnie Yen : He's THE best character in the movie.. Great charisma , amazing in action. Should've been given a meatier role.
Tony Jaa : Wasted in a silly small role.. Maybe his lack of command over English & moderate acting skills keep the producers from giving him more than 5 lines to speak in EVERY film !
The other women are more or less eye candy (except for the obligatory LGBT character of no real significance ! ) but XXX needs to learn from Bond to pull off objectification & misogyny .. The attempts in this movie fall flat.
Looking at the desi angle..
Deepika is absolutely SMASHING !!!.. Looks prettier, sexier and more ethereal than even in her queen roles in Bollywood. Has a stunning screen presence and does stunts with surprising competence . Her height gives her tremendous poise in the action sequences. If she plays her cards well, we are looking at the first genuine Desi superstar in Hollywood (she can overtake Priyanka for sure). What I liked most was that she speaks in her natural English accent (very south Indian but polished). Nothing like the half baked accent Priyanka has.
Other positives: Ice cube & Neymar Jr have cameos, both are fun. Samuel L. Jackson plays basically Nick fury without the eye patch. He basically has saved these roles on a template somewhere. .
Bottomline : Lead actor disappoints the most . Action & stunts are good. Plot is super thin and makes very little sense. A fast & furious that tries to revive a rather dull franchise by trying too many things.. Maybe a Rock or Jason Statham would've done the "Kickass Bald guy" role much better in this one. The support cast & cameos rescue this from being a complete dud !
5/10.
PS: This movie in 3D is an absolute waste of money . No noticeable 3D effects or visuals. Just another money grab attempt.
Not favourite. Probably favourite/2nd favourite of 2016. It may be in my top 15 of all time. Definitely in top 25
Why would you wanna watch this man. I remember watching XXX 2 in the cinema and that was an awful experience
It was fun,u too uptight on ur choices mate.I was able to enjoy even Transformers,Smurfs(1) in theater with friends couldn't bear it on Tv reruns though.
True, it's a bit like comedies as well; not all of them are decent but they give you a laugh. With action movies I never have high expectations either although when it comes the good ones such as mad max and John Wick I'd be expecting more from the sequels though. Plus it's not like movie of the year quality stuff is released every month, so when you go to the theatre you just watch whatever seems fairly ok
Sometimes it's just better to sit back and relax instead of sitting in the theatre with a pen and paperhave to admit that when I watched Man of Steel got annoyed though because it had so much hype but never delivered imo
MAD MAX in 3D was AWESOME man totally surprised me as i didn't expect anything,it was genuine move theater experience for me even better than Avatar (imo).
But yeah defn it won't have a sequel the way things are going.
I love fun movies Fast series ,Transformers even Bad Moms was fun man! Only recently I have stopped going to theater for fun movies due to our new crappy GOI censoring movies and what not![]()
It totally blew me away as well, I had read the positive reviews as well something which I normally don't do as I just like to enjoy the movie and judge for myself but despite the positive reviews I just didn't expect how unique it was. The sequel is planned it will be called "Mad Max: The Wasteland", the production team and distributors didn't expect it to do as well as it did at the box office, miller already has a vision for two more stories to tell.
That's a shame, I guess you can always watch them in other ways. I haven't seen Bad Moms am checking to see if I have it on Amazon Primewith the fast series I kind of just stopped watching them around four or five because I couldn't keep up with their releases
Lol,I use netflix and my friends Amazon Prime account at times heard fleagbag is remarkable.
The only movie i'm remotely into watching in coming months is Spiderman
It won't be like the fantastic short film made by shankar which SABAN got really worked up over but the incarnation does feel a little darker then what you'd traditionally expect with the rangers. In the end it will be a standard action movie, I will probably go see it being a huge fan of the rangers growing up.
Damnnn!!!! I got mad hyped. I am jealous. I wanna be a power ranger.
Those who like romantic movies, watch 5 to 7 starring the late Anton Yelchin. Quite a touching movie.
Carlitos way

No scarface in your top 5, I lost me respek for you![]()
Scarface isn't as good as any of these movies. This is coming from a guy whose seen it 4 times
Scarface has some great scenes but they are sporadic. The film is lazily edited and far too long.
In preparation for Trump inauguration :-
Red Dawn 5/10
White House Down 7/10
Olympus Has Fallen 7/10
Salt 8/10
