hahaha. it is totally okay. I've been away for a pretty long time anyway.

There was something about Arrival that was sort of missing. Like I am not able to point a finger exactly but it seemed like building up to something and then nothing really happened.

And the fact that the UFO was over Pakistan was actually a pleasant surprise. That was something that I couldn't expect even a lil bit.

Antonioni's classic from 1960 that changed cinema forever.

While there is a story line, in essence it hardly matters. Antonioni is telling something deeper and unsettling through the visuals using his characters as backdrop as he immerses the viewer into a world of privilege and loneliness. While the denizens of this world wander aimlessly in and out of the camera, their boredom and utter purposelessness on full display, the pathos of modern life, the existential crisis they suffer from, makes it an intriguing and poignant work of art. A masterpiece.

Reasonably satisfying conclusion (untill they make the next one) to the long running franchise. Never was great "cinema" to begin with. But a fun Video game based movie, and as fat as video game adaptations go, you could call it a success.

Pros: Milla Jovovich..!!! Incredible beauty and sucks the camera's attention like a black hole. Few other actresses are more photogenic than her. Absolute badass even at 41 ! Does a lot of stunts very convincingly and breathes life to the franchise !

Proves again that a decent/good actor throwing a few punches WILL NOT MAKE A GOOD ACTION MOVIE or you an ACTION STAR !! (looking at Jennifer lawrence here ! ). You need charisma, good physicality and most of all, actually make the fights look convincing.

Since Jolie and Jovovich launched their franchises in the early 2000's and pretty much took it to the peak, none of the present generation can match their gravitas as female Action Stars. Scarlett johansson is almost there, but she's too sexy to the point it distracts you from everything else.. !

Cons : Terrible editing . Action scenes are incoherent. Makes some of the action look sub-par. Supporting cast are simply disposable. The villians are serviceable but don't stand out . The zombies are made too insignificant .Its all action now..

Ideally you shouldn't watch any but the first ..

But if you like Milla /love the mindless spectacle go for all 5.. 3,4,5 haven't really added much to the depth of the story apart from a reusable list of side characters.

Manchester By the sea. very decent drama with 7/10 from me. With this unique pace and story, definitely not every one's cup of tea. But that one scene in the end was really moving. The issue was ,a close friend of mine hyped it soooo much for me that it fell below level.

Almost Famous was my fav movie growing up ,don't know what was about that movie but after that I just got way too much into Hollywood.

Romcoms-> Blue Valentine,When Harry Met Sally,High fidelity,Gone with the Wind,Casablanca= are very good ones

Music & Lyrics,50 first dates,The Holiday,Wedding Singer,Two weeks notice ,how to lose a guy in 10 days,Sleepless in Seattle,you've mail,City of Angels,a good year etc all corny movies with good one time watch.

Its fun to watch but i wouldn't give it a second thought after leaving the theater, the best romantic movie from bollywood for me is

Amar Prem(1971),Devdas,Safar,Silsila,Kabhi Kabhi all those movies for sadly which i wasn't born but are amazing movies, Rajesh Khanna is king of romance for me,all these new ones i don't even enter the cinema for them.

Defn true then but even old hollywood romantic ones are good- Casablanca,Gone with the wind,Annie Hall.
Think romance has gone down as a genre in all industries as such.

Dont breathe is easily the best horror movie I've seen in a cinema

I wouldn't say it is a full on horror...mix of crime & thriller. The best horror I watched at the cinema in 2016 was The Witch.

The story was good and as you know based on a true story. But Ive watched similar and better movies which were more entertaining:

True,defn not the best but considering yearwise football movies i would still rate it better of the year.

Rudy was awesome,felt it was very similar to that,haven't seen Lucas yet.

Lucas is a good movie and you will see alot of stars in their youth in this movie. This is similar to Rudy and Greater with Football themes and being accepted by others. However unlike the other two, this is not based on a true story.

Saw 2 films in the last 24 hrs :

1. John Wick : Chapter 2

Absolute kickass action film.. Near perfect sequel to the first ! Best action film since 2015's Mad Max fury road as far as the quality of the Action is concerned.. (8.5/10)

Filled with Superb action choreography that elevates Gun-Fu (a mix of gunfights & ,martial arts) to a whole new level !

It helps that the directors are former stunt choreographers and associate directors on the Matrix trilogy. They have over a 20 year association with Keanu Reeves and know how to extract his best !

Keanu Does a fabulous job ! The movie has zero CGi , so all the action is real and mostly Keanu too . The guy is LEGIT at martial arts and commits to the physicality of the movie in an amazing way. Check out his youtube training videos for the gunfights !! There is no slow-motion too, so the action happens in real time and feel very realistic !

There are no shaky-cam visuals or a million cuts in the fight scenes or multiple angles , to hide the incompetence of the action stars (Liam Neeson- Taken sequels *cough cough*). The action scenes are mostly long takes and have a wide field of view, so the actors really had to do substantial training or rehearsals to accomplish what we see on screen. Hats off , to putting so much effort into the action, which we see so rarely in HW films now.

The movie checks all of the ideal "good sequel " boxes ; Meaner villains ( Ruby rose is cool and so is the rapper "common") , More action, more blood, bigger fights, way more violence (watch out for the pencil story from part 1) and body count . .Also we go deeper into the world of the assassins and the Continental hotel's workings.. So they have expanded on the world created by the 1st film and kept us intrigued enough ..

The movie doesn't have as much story or emotional depth as the 1st one, since we're more concerned about the countless no.of people getting shot in the face ! That pretty much is the only minus . Keanu was always a "pleasantly" wooden actor , as we have known from the Matrix , but he plays the silent , calculative assassin pretty well, without much dramatics.

If they pull off John Wick 3 well, Keanu Reeves will undoubtedly have put himself among the top 5 action heroes in hollywood ever ! To follow up a GOAT action movie role like the Matrix with something as interesting as this movie, itself has established his action-star cred without dispute.

Final Verdict : A treat for lovers of true hollywood action . Not the superhero/angry robots CGI crapfests that fill up hollywood these days. A rebirth of the Gunplay action from the John Woo/matrix era !

The Lego Batman Movie : (9/10)

I was blown away when the 1st Lego Movie came out . Having played with lego bricks (or cheap chinese counterfeits ) as a kid, there was always a great fascination with the brand. But to see how they created a whole cinematic world out of lego was fascinating.

The original was an incredibly fun and entertaining film, with lots of pop culture references, Warner Brothers holding a lot of IP surely helped. But the movie also had an emotional depth that we usually associate with Pixar films..

The New one is a Spinoff from the original, it takes the Most Popular character from the "Lego Movie", Batman and bulids a whole world around it .

The Good :

1. Will Arnett is fabulous. ! People usually point to Kevin Conroy (Batman the animated series, DCAU & Arkham Video Games) as the greatest portrayal of Batman ever, but Arnett sure comes close, with his hilarious yet emotional take on the brooding superhero !He by far has the BEST BATMAN VOICE ever .

2. The movie takes ample potshots at superhero films & the Batman Mythology (why he broods so much, why batman movies are so dark), it makes fun of the ridiculousness of Batman's world (like all the countless Bat-Gadgets) , but it rarely feels like a SPOOF JOB .. The movie actually deals with the emotions behind Batman and his relationships with his pseudo family- Alfred, Robin and Barbara in great detail. This brings surprising depth to the film.

3. Voice acting is top notch. Supporting cast like Ralph Fiennes(Alfred) and Rosario Dawson (Barbara) are great. So are the bat villians (there are many).

4. Animation is visceral ! They take it many notches above what we saw in the original film. The level of attention to detail needed to show the entire world as made out of detachable lego bricks is baffling ! IMAX viewing is recommended, if you wanna enjoy it in Full Glory !

The Bad:

1. Story doesn't have the same level of emotions as in the first , but for a movie about Batman, it's not supposed to be soap opera !

2. Zack Galifinakis as the Joker is a bit underwhelming. He may have had to play the joker as much lighter character owing to the target audience, but it makes him seem a bit too watered down. Mark Hamil's Joker (again Batman the animated series, DCAU & Arkham Video Games ) is the Absolute gold standard when it comes to the Joker Voice and mannerisms.

Thats pretty much all that's wrong with it ..

Final Verdict : (9/10)

Thouroghly enjoyable fare. A Great animated film even for more mature Batman fans to enjoy .. Warner Animation is a whole new palyer to challenge Pixar/Disney now. That is the best sign of this movies quality ...

Watched The Founder on Wednesday evening AKA The Social Network with burgers. OK, not as good as TSN, but the acting was solid especially by Michael Keaton who plays Ray Kroc. I liked the film as it allowed the viewer to make up their own mind without hammering over your head some good vs evil narrative. You could see fault on all sides.

The McDonalds brothers are likeable and very sympathetic but they were content with a small town, good ol' boy burger joint and lacked the ambition to take the franchise worldwide. Ray Kroc, despite his aggressive business practices, does take the business to the level the brothers could never have done.

You start off rooting for Ray Kroc as the travelling milkshake maker salesman just trying to make a living. But the power gets to his head and he becomes the head of an organisation that represents everything wrong with Corporate America - deceitful, bullying and willing to take any shortcut if it means an extra cent in profit. Almost makes you never want to go to McDonalds ever again !

Worth a watch if you're interested in the backstory behind one of the world's biggest fast food franchises. 7/10.

It explores the drugs problem in Punjab and how it's affecting people in that region.

Alia Bhatt very good in it.

Saw split and John Wick 2 past weekend

Split : Incredible acting by Mcavoy and brilliantly directed by Shyamalan. Shyamalan either makes good movies or really bad ones, no middle ground with him. Nice to hear that its getting a sequel, the last scene has setup the sequel really well.

John wick 2 - Brilliant action scenes movie and liked the fact that they told us more the continental and assassins mythology. Cant wait for the next installment
