How long is your break?

Haven't been eating much lately since I've been sick due to the cold. Even water tastes bitter, forget everything else.

Went for the healthy option today, grilled chicken burger, fries, fried wings and 7up

Last night went for something different and made turkey chilli con carne. Today I done my back in really badly and in a lot of pain so couldn't be bothered to make food. I tried some special k protein bar and ordered take away for dinner as back in too much pain to cook. It was flame grilled chicken and I had it with salad and corn on the cob.

Pizza and we had to wait for ages and it was absolutely tiny. Was at some Pakistani Society thing and I had like 3 slices in total and were so small :(

Chickpeas. Just chickpeas with some salt and pepper. Am a simple man.

Made a tomato pasta sauce and added tuna.

So pasta and tomato tuna sauce with cheese. Getting bored of eating the same food DAY IN DAY OUT!

I made a chicken cheese dish then put it in a wrap, then the wrap was topped with more cheese and a layer of the sauce I made and put it all in the oven. Made a filling. Canned salmon, mayo, pepper and some seasonings. Had it on toasts with red pepper hummus.

Something important happened in my life today so I rewarded myself and others around me by getting Chipotle tacos. Try their barbacoa (shredded beef) it's amazing.

yesterday cooked chicken channa and made some rice (added turmeric and it makes it yellow)

:)

Had Hyderabadi mutton biryani in an ancient pre partition restaurant in Old Delhi. Amazing experience!

Did you make the tandoor nan yourself too? How did you manage it? Do you have a real tandoor at home?

Alligator bites.

Alligator meat in bite-sized chunks, battered and deep-fried, with cole slaw. The office chef was proud of having found it.

It tasted like chicken, with just the slightest gamey aftertaste.

Tried making protein pancakes on pancake day. Was an absolute flop! It ended up looking like scrambled eggs!

I ate some strawberries and biryani today, made them both because it was strawberry and biryani day today

You missed out. The skin with raita is the best part.

It's going to be grilled chicken burger day tomorrow, I won't be making one but my plan is to buy one on the way back from gym

Great minds think alike. On Fridays I get to have a cheat meal, and it is invariably grilled chicken burger. I have mine with pepperjack cheese, waffle fries, a diet coke, and a chocolate shake. Its a cheat meal after all.

Ooooh chocolate shake, haven't had one of those in a long time. My grilled burger was called a Mexicana and had cheese, nachos and mexicana sauce apparently lol I've started training again, just sort of getting into the habit of a routine but diet still needs sorting out especially what to take with me to work during lunch times because having noodles and sandwiches all the time is not healthy

last night moussaka, tonight tandoori chicken with roast potatoes.

I’m on the other end of the spectrum: the diet is very much in place, the workouts not so much.

I’m facing another dilemma: in my eternal quest for sub-10% body fat, I’ve found that the cheat meals really help. The theory is that they tell the body it has nothing to fear from the reduced calories, and are a jolt to the metabolism. The trouble is, after a year or so of the diet being spot-on, my gut bacteria hate sugar. So right after I finish the chocolate shake, I start feeling a slight pain in my forehead, and an hour or so later, I have a pimple.

I would attribute it to something else, but it always happens. This is one of the pitfalls of a keto-inspired, no-refined-carbs diet. I’ll have to give up the cheat meal, or at least the shake and fries, unless I want to see my forehead resemble a teenager’s on the threshold of puberty.

You must already be in tremendous shape, sub-10% you crazy :)) unless you're trying to make weight for a fight? most boxer's tend to have body fat % in that region.

Have you cut out sugar completely barring the cheat days ? maybe if you took it in small amounts your body will become accustomed to it again.

That's one of the reasons a no-refined carbs diet puts me off, my body wont react to it too well but the gains in the long term could be beneficial. But perhaps such carbs would be ok for me if I control my calorie intake and train at least 4-5 times a week

I don’t know about tremendous shape, but I’m happy I’m in far better shape than most men my age. But once you’re at 12% or so, it gets incredibly hard. Mind you, boxers always carry more body fat than others, such as CrossFit athletes, bodybuilders and the like, all of whom are 8-10%, sometimes less, so it’s achievable.

As for the small amounts of sugar, I’ve been reading articles recently which agreed with something I’ve long suspected: you are either a binge eater, or you’re not. If you aren’t, you can make do with a treat a day and be perfectly content. However, if you aren’t, you’ll be driven mad by cravings, and you can’t possibly stop. The cold-turkey approach has therefore worked for me.

The cheat meal also highlights something else that is now known: that sugar addiction is harder to break than a heroin habit. I was reading about a study where they fed rats water laced with heroin. They then offered the rats water mixed with sugar, while the heroin water was still available. The rats switched to sugar and gave up heroin. Furthermore, rats addicted to heroin fared far better when deprived of heroin than rats addicted to sugar deprived of sugar. The sweet stuff is toxic, and you could give it up for months, but the cravings never really go away.

Kidney beans with chilli poweder, chaat masala, salt and pepper. Easily pleased :)

Pan fried Chicken Breast. Normally grill it but forgot my grill at home so seasoned it with spices and fried it and ate in a sandwich with mayo + ketchup.

Yesterday for lunch I had baked salmon with kidney bean salad and roast vegetables such as parsnips etc.

Then for dinner was at grandmas so there was chicken korma, chicken pilau, aloo mattar, bindi and some yogurts/chutneys.

Today for breakfast had banana pancakes (healthy) and fried egg with toast

2x Vol au vent, 2 sausage rolls and a strawberry roll. Moved to Lahore recently, a city I despise, so imagine my glee when I discovered a Kitchen Cuisine outlet to remind me of home.

Went to a Mexican restaurant. Starters were nachos with things like guacamole etc. For main I had salmon with potatoes + vegetables whereas others had stuff like sea bass, enchilidaes, chimichanga etc.

Kola Puri chicken on toast with ketchup the other day, my nan is a great cook :)

Lunch had pasta with a sardine sauce. just oil, onion, seasonings etc and sardines then added cheese, vegetables etc

Last night brown rice (added seasonings, including turmeric which makes it yellowish) then added some frozen vegetables into it while cooking and had it with hari (green) chicken and yogurt.

My missus loves Dominos pizza but I hate paying for £18.99 for two bread discs filled with some sauces, cheese and a few veggies.
