Not only that. There is no guarantee Abrar will be any good given there’s no evidence to support this conclusion at all.

Yasir and Danish were unable to achieve anything in white ball cricket even at the peak of their careers. Abrar is just at the start.

I think they are saving him for later in the tournament as a secret weapon. I would bet on him playing for South Africa.

I think there is a dilemma. If Pak bowl second after about 10 overs the dew starts setting in so a spinner is ineffective. This is why they just want to use Nawaz as a containing option but now they are running out of options so must play a spinner.

To be fair, not having a spin bowling coach doesn’t help…not saying it would’ve made a huge difference but I’m pretty sure Morkel isn’t the right man to go to when a spinner is looking for a bit of advice.

I would blame PCB and Selection Committee also. In fact, bigger blame goes to Inzi and PCB for being a very weak selection committee.

Imran Khan was the strongest captain that we know of.... and even he had to threaten to resign to have Inzi in the 1992 team.
I sure don't know the reality but I find it very hard to imagine Babar is a stornger captain than Imran.... to have his say in the selection.

At the end of the day, if captain intentionaly selects poor performing players .... it is he, who is going to pay the price by getting removed from the captincy.... and getting absued by media and captain.

England (the defending champs) performed much worse than Pakistan ..... I wonder who selelcted the players in English team? The captain or selection committee.

As I said, I don't know what happened in reality ... just trying to put logic behind the events.

Us not picking genuine spinners and instead opting for bits and pieces players like Afridi, Malik, Hafeez, Shadab, Nawaz, Imad

In the last 20 years, we have only had a 4-5 year phase where we played a genuine spinner Ajmal. And during that time, our bowling was the saving grace. The only time in this century where we reached the World Cup semifinal

All ex-cricketers, media, fans should demand the PCB to stop this pathetic strategy of ignoring genuine spinners and playing railu kattas instead

Q: Why have Shadab Khan, Usama Mir, Mohammad Nawaz and Usman Qadir been called for the camp ahead of the tour when they are not part of the squad?

WR: “The four spinners we have called in the camp are because we want to work on them and they are assets for Pakistan cricket. We will need them in the future as well and it is our duty as an organisation to work on them.

“We want to increase our pool of players available in each format. We had not prepared backups which became glaringly obvious in the World Cup but going forward, we want to implement a rotation policy as well across formats. We want to give players as much game time and preparation as we can so we can maximise our available resources at any given time.
