I would have loved to see how the Late Hanif Mohammad would have taken on the likes of Michael Holding or Dennis Lillee

How fascinating would that encounter have been!?

Tell us about your choices.

don bradman against shoaib akhter at his peak. its obvious bowlers didnt bowl as fast as lee, akhter back in the 30s and 40s, but with uncovered pitches and no protective equipment i think he would still have the ability to negotiate the pace.

but we would never really know.

also swapping around the roles would love to have watched an accomplished hooker like viv richards negotiate the england quicks in a bodyline type series ebfore the restriction on fielders behind square leg.

Wasim Akram vs Steve Smith (In Tests)

Shoaib Akhtar vs Kohli (In ODIs) (Eras overlapped for a tiny bit but Wahab played over Akhtar in Semis of WC11 and Akhtar was in his twilight to be honest)

There can be many others as well but, watching all of these players to an extent both these battles would have been pretty good to watch I think.

Virat Vs Akhtar would be fun for sure and here I mean Akhtar of 98-04 version.

Yes that Akhtar and Virat would have been amazing watch. Virat loves pace on the bat and Akhtar had plenty of that along with variations and movement with new and old ball.

IMO peak Kohli would own Peak Akhtar in the modern batting era

Very hard to say in the Tendulkar/Lara/Ponting era. Shoaib has had great spells against all of them and they have also served Shoaib with a fair bit of punishment also

Shahid Afridi v Chetan Sharma

Mohammed Hafeez v Curly Ambrose

Viral Kohli v Waqar Younis

Brian Lara v Imran Khan

AB vs Anderson in England. It would be interesting to see how Jimmy went against a batsman with tight technique who put a price on his wicket.

Greg Chappell vs Murali
Sunil Gavaskar vs Allan Donald
Sachin vs Pat Cummins
Lara vs Bill o Reilly

Virat vs Akthar.. Agression and Phainta.. I think they will have good go at each other.
Rohit/Ponting vs Jeff Thompson.. Pace vs one of the best pull shot player
Inzamam vs Michael Holding.. Again Pace of Fire vs Player having lots of time to play fast bowlers
Root vs Botham
Babar Azam vs Wasim Akram would be a fascinating contest.

:)) You've got to be kidding me. Inzamam did bloody jack against Australia and South Africa in both Test and ODI's all his career. A true great like Michael Holding would eat him for breakfast, lunch and dinner everyday.

I am going by anecdotes from Wasim and Akhtar.. they said they could not beat Inzi in the nets.
Also, when he was on song he did seem to have lots of time to play against fast bowlers... Lazy elegance personified was Inzi bhai..

Inzamam was always an LBW candidate against great bowlers as he used to shuffle in the crease and sometimes was a bit late to react to the incoming balls to the pads.

Match is played in the ground not in the nets

Like McCabe did. But Richards would have been hit on the body a lot of times too. It wasn’t really cricket because if the batsman missed the ball he would get hit ever time.

Dunno if England had the pace to make it work in Richards’ time. Perhaps if they could have had Snow and Willis opening, but who would be Bill Bowes and Allen?

yeh, but there aint much good footage, plus it would have been brilliant to see how viv would have countered it simply for entertainment purposes. it may not be cricket, but that doesn't mean i wouldn't have been engrossed by it.

Mohammed Hafeez v Andy Roberts

Shoaib Malik v Michael Holding

Ahmad Shezad v Malcolm Marshall

Umar Akmal v Joel Garner

Gavaskar/Boycott vs Mcgrath - Ultimate test of will on who will crack first. Defensive Materclass
Viv Richards vs Waqar - Would be great fun. Attacking Masterclass
Bradman vs Marshall - Best vs Best
