Stats prove that.... South Africa has the best average and top S/R among the main teams in last 20-21 months.

I say 4-6 is making their 1-3 look good. I took out Netherlands i checked 1-3 strike rate. SOuth Africa's middle order can be brutal. You would rather want SA's top order play most overs than the middle order.

South Africa's top 6 is brutal but I believe they can come unstuck against a decent bowling unit when chasing.
But overall I reckon South Africa's is the strongest top 6 on paper.
Have not voted.
Where was that lack of mentality when they smoked Sri lanka?Between India, England and Australia on a given day. SA are too mentally fragile to win a WC so discount them.
It's a little complicated than that. Batting first, maybe. We're up there with India in terms of W/L ratio. We have the best batting average and 2nd best SR. But remember we can still collapse, even at our "main strength" i.e. batting first. Temperament has to be factored in.Stats prove that.... Batting second is where India is ahead of the rest by some margin. I'd argue that they have the best bowling attack too. It's their world cup to lose.

Beyond shocking. If we had the mental resilience of the Springboks, then fine. Bat first irrespective of the conditions, put a decent total. If you manage to lose, then fine.Damn, Southern Afrikaans are so bad in 2nd innings. That's embarassing.
The only consolation is that run rate. If it "clicks" .....Beyond shocking. If we had the mental resilience of the Springboks, then fine. Bat first irrespective of the conditions, put a decent total. If you manage to lose, then fine.
They'd come home to a heroes welcome regardless. But to bottle games in all kinds of manners is just unacceptable

Pigs will fly before that happens though
We haven't had a lower order like in the 90's unfortunately. Back then we had a solid middle and lower order. Our top order wasn't as dynamic or solid as the ones we've had over the last decade or so. We've never been a balanced ODI side.It does seem same kind of problem for South Africa like the past teams. Chasing down totals is a challenge, in first inning if they get good start they can absolutely demolish opposition in the first half itself by amassing a huge total but in second inning, a collapse can happen anytime.
Great to see you here Soso bhai. The only consolation is that run rate. If it "clicks" .....

Our bowling is the weakest I've seen since readmission too. Sooner or later we'll be exposed, batting first or otherwise
I used to be active on here a lot until life got in the way. I'll try and login from time to time for sureGreat to see you here Soso bhai.
Some Afrikaana representation is must.
I am missing our Aussie friends
You have never truly found the replacements of Klusner, Pollock, Boucher, Boje, Hall etc. Kemp, Morkel,Botha etc had shown promise but they never could sustain for long. The current lower order is ridiculously long & can be exposed embarrassingly in a must win match. Simply no other choice but to always bat first & aim big.We haven't had a lower order like in the 90's unfortunately. Back then we had a solid middle and lower order. Yup, South Africa top order have looked amazing in both of their matches. So far I would have to say South Africa and New Zealand have certainly performed the best, but I expect England to show their class as well.
Bavuma is still a weak link. That guy is going to hurt his side at some point. Other 5 guys are okay. But mentally yet to be tested. All these guys choked in T20 match against Netherlands.Yup, South Africa top order have looked amazing in both of their matches.
