Who is Joining "Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Now" Thread

Some sources say that one of the "political forces from Sindh" joining PTI could be senior politician Elahi Bux Soomro.
He's an influential man amongst the "Soomros", which is the second most important clan of Sindh (after the Bhuttos) from an eloctoral POV, so his inclusion could trigger a little pro-PTI movement in Sindh (not only his other relatives, but other "Soomros".)

As I said, still a rumour (spotted speaking with representatives of ISF, etc)
We could have good surprises for the next month when Imran Khan plans to come to Sindh.

Hmm. If i recall correctly, Soomro was speaker of the national assembly during Nawaz Sharif's last tenure.

Good to see the PTI focusing on Sindh, Perhaps the most important constituency in the elections.

That is correct. And if this rumor is true, it will be huge for PTI.

PTI needs some seats in Sindh. Cant leave the poor province to the PPP vultures

You lot are slow. We have got somros in the bag for a while now. Credit must go to Maula Bux soomro who's been part of Insaf Students Federation for a while now.

Just another case of youngsta beauties convincing their elders to switch loyalties.

KARACHI: Senior politician Ilahi Bukhsh Soomro has been a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz stalwart for years but his eldest grandson Maula Bukhsh Soomro has decided not to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps and joined the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) instead.

The younger Soomro, who is the eldest grandson of the former speaker of the National Assembly, heads the Defence and Clifton wing of the Insaf Student Federation (ISF) of the Imran Khan-led party. He is not the first member from his family to go this way. The elder Soomro’s brother Iftikhar announced he was joining the PTI about two months ago.

The 22-year-old Soomro told The Express Tribune that when he decided to join the ISF last January, he was too scared to tell his grandfather. “I had no courage, therefore it was my family who told him that I was supporting the PTI.”

Soomro says that Ilahi Bukhsh was “shocked” at the decision but he did not raise any objections. In fact, the youngster believes that if members of the Soomro clan had argued in favour of Ilahi Bukhsh Soomro joining the PTI, he might have considered it. “My grandfather has never had a problem with Imran Khan, in fact he considers him a leader,” he said over the phone from Islamabad where he had gone to attend a meeting. The Express Tribune could not immediately contact the elder Soomro to acquire his reaction.

For Maula Bukhsh, the ISF is the “most sincere, organised and disciplined” of student wings from any party. He can afford to make a comparison as he joined student politics by becoming the president of the Pakistan Peoples Party’s student wing in Lahore. “I decided to contest the elections just for fun and became the president,” he said. “But I quit the party in three months. They were in brawls and misused donations to buy alcohol.”

Aijaz Damrah, who is the president of the PPP youth wing in Sindh, said the allegations were unfounded. “There are some black sheep in every party,” he told The Express Tribune. “We do not rule this out. But I refute the allegations that the PPP student wing is involved in this menace.” For now, Maula Bukhsh Soomro, who has studied at Aitchison College, and holds a BCom degree, says that he is eyeing the position of vice president of the ISF’s Karachi division, currently vacant. “Our aim is to promote the ideology of our leader Imran Khan. After the successful 25th December rally in Karachi, we have been bombarded by requests from youngsters to join our wing.” Right now, it has 450 members, aged between 18 and 28 years old, in the Defence chapter alone.

Soomro claims that there are many youngsters in the ISF who have departed from their family’s political line. One such member is Fayyaz Thaheem, the son of the late federal local government minister Abdul Razzak Thaheem, who was a PPP leader.

Maula Bux Soomro has been leading ISF defense and clinton since october 2011 and has been a member of ISF for a while now.

^That awesome!

But it would be great to get Elahi Bux Soomro. Would be a big step for PTI in Sindh. Let's see if the youngun can persuade his dada jee to join PTI

But this news of Maula Bux being a PTI member is really good! We have some important people in Sindh on our side then

I didn't knew about him TBH even if I did about Iftikhar, but if the "doyen", Elahi Bux Soomro, does join, it will have a damn great impact, at least symbolic...

...not the forgotten Bhutto, Mumtaz, with his followers dancing on "Sindhudesh" tunes during the last PML-N jalsa it seems.

Getting the Soomros would be a massive boost. A very influential family.

EDIT: The big Soomros.

Tribal elder Fazal Karim Afridi quits ANP to join PTI

PESHAWAR: A tribal elder and honorary consul general of Japan in Peshawar, Fazal Karim Afridi on Monday announced joining Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) after resigning from the basic membership of the ruling Awami National Party.

Speaking at a press conference along with the PTI leaders and activists, including Iftikhar Jhagra, elders from various tribal regions and relatives, he hoped the PTI would play an effective role in ending corruption in the country.

Fazal Karim Afridi, who originally belongs to Khyber Agency, said his decision to quit ANP was due to the poor performance of the party’s government as the rulers had promised many things for the welfare of the poor but failed to honour any commitment.

Expressing concern over the lawlessness, increasing unemployment and price hike, he said the rulers had failed to devise an effective policy for improvement of the financial status of the poor. He lamented that people in Fata were suffering from a host of problems but the rulers were oblivious to their needs and were instead shifting money to Swiss banks. “The billions of dollars in the foreign banks if brought to Pakistan could enable it to present tax-free budgets for 30 years and overcome the energy crisis through initiation of 500 mega power projects,” he argued.Former provincial minister Iftikhar Jhagra, who is senior PTI leader welcomed Fazal Karim Afridi and his supporters and relatives into the PTI fold.

How much time is left till the elections?

I'm starting to get a bit concerned now. Will PTI have all it's candidates ready?

PTI makes inroads into Chaudhrys’ den

The PTI successfully making inroads in the ‘House of Chaudhrys of Gujrat’ has taken into its folds Chaudhry Mubashar Hussain. Chaudhry Mubashar Hussain, who was a former MNA joined the PTI after parting ways with PML-N, however political factor of Mubashar’s blood relation PML-Q Chief Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain and senior leader Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi was more important than his former political affiliation with the ruling party of Punjab.
The joining of Chaudhry Mubashar is being seen in the political circles of Gujrat with serious blow to the traditional grip of Chaudhrys of PML-Q on Gujrat.

Interestingly, the crowd was big despite the lack of hype (TBH didn't even know that there was a jalsa there xD) and Imran Khan not being there:

Political personalities of Punjab join PTI

Political personalities of provincial capital have joined Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Thursday.

Mao Youth Wing President Saghir Mao, former nazim Muhammad Anwer, Riaz Malik, Haji Muhammad Rizwan, former councillor Muhammad Shahid Hameed, Mian Afzal and their companions announced their allegiance to the Imran Khan and PTI during a press conference.

While addressing the media, Mahmoodur Rasheed, a member of PTI Central Punjab Steering Committee, said the PTI is gaining popularity in both urban and rural areas; the PTI is exists in all parts of the country.

He was optimist that the party will win the next general elections.

Sheikh Rasheed is a dramay baaz, with nothing but big heavy dialogues in his pocket. He thinks of himself as a top notch analyst, who knows everything.

I heard that there are thousands of youngsters, going door to door, inviting people in pindi to attend the 27th May Jalsa.

There are already gatherings going on there, and the atmosphere is really good.

The person who told me this though, is not someone I know, so I cant say how reliable he is.

Can anyone from pindi give updates about how things look there?

^^would be interesting if someone could confirm, but honestly don't doub it, ISF's doing a dam great job.
ISF Larkana in Sindh

ISF District Larkana's Delegation met Awami Tehreek's leadership. Invited them for tomorrow's ISF Rally in Larkana. Invitation accepted by Awami Tehreek.

Looks like PTI wants some Sindhi votes :ayazlatifpalijo lol that's perhaps why Sardar Uzair Jan Baloch recently "liked" the FB page "We Want Imran Khan as the PM of Pakistan" :))

Seems like PTI leadership is sleeping and all the hard work is done by ISF Cheetas, especially the membership campaign where ISF is more active than PTI. Even the Jalsas are a SUCCESS becs of ISF.

The entire Pindi city is adorned with posters, billboards and banners inviting people to attend the 27th May jalsa. Not only Pindi but the cities of Taxila/Wah as well.
Insh'Allah this jalsa will be an immense success. The atmosphere is great and people are really looking forward to it.

Liaquat Bagh is only a stone's throw away from Sheikhoo's residence by the way:waqar

This will be PTI's first "mega jalsa" in northern Punjab. PML(N) put on an impressive display in Attock the other day.

Rawalpindi city has always been a PML(N) stronghold. PTI must get the backing of the trader community because they have traditionally supported Nawaz Sharif. Their vote matters a lot.

I don't think he will join PTI but he will surely form an alliance with PTI and i don't have any problem with that. He has said many times that he won't merge with anyone and i think it suits him and PTI well.

I agree, PTI's alliance with SR will go a long way in taking Pindi away from PML-N, since it is a stronghold on NS.

I am just hoping that SR doesnt join PTI, and if PTI win the elections, he isnt given a ministry.

Wonder what kind of impact will this have. trending a lot on twitter!!

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan who announced to quit politics in case any ‘benami transaction’ (nameless transaction) was established against him is now caught in a dilemma as his ex-wife, Jemima Khan, has hinted that the land deal in Bani Gala, Islamabad in 2004, was a ‘benami transaction’.

Not only Imran had opposed such transactions, he has been fiercely advocating a ban on them and pledged last year to do so if PTI is voted to power.

But while Jemima has mentioned a benami transaction in a document, lawyers are divided on whether the power of attorney she gave to a PTI leader fits the definition of a “nameless” transaction. The PTI spokesman has denied this on behalf of the party chairman and Imran’s legal consultant offered no comment, but Jemima’s document obtained by The News offers detail contrary to the party position in this regard.

In the sworn-affidavit, Jemima Khan says Bani Gala land measuring 300 kanals and five marlas was transferred in her name by ex-husband Imran Khan as ‘benami transaction.’

In Para-3 of her general power of attorney dated September 21, 2004, Jemima Khan had stated: “The land was transferred in my name through mutations No. 7056, 7225, 7361, 7538, by my ex-husband Mr Imran Ahmed Khan Niazi as a “benami transaction.” After the separation/divorce between me and Mr Imran Ahmed Khan Niazi, I do not intend to keep the land with me.” In the entire affidavit, no amount of money regarding this transaction has been mentioned.

When The News contacted noted lawyer Abid Hasan Manto for comments, he said if something was put on record through a power of attorney, it should be taken as a fact. “When there is a power of attorney and signature of the person concerned, it is prima facie a fact.”

Another leading lawyer Athar Minallah says by declaring that it was ‘benami transaction’, Jemima Khan has denied Imran Khan’s claim reported in the media that he borrowed money from her for purchasing the land and returned it on selling his flat in London.

“She has put him in an awkward position by stating this. The usage of ‘benami transaction’ in power of attorney (a legal document), indicates that Imran Khan paid from his own pocket but chose to register the land in his wife’s name (and it didn’t appear in his tax return details where he could have been questioned about the source of money),” Athar said.

“Also, declaring ‘benami transaction’ means that she was transferring back the property to the real owner without claiming any money (since she was not the real owner),” the leading lawyer said and added: “Once transferred back in Imran Khan’s name, it is not benami. But it was when he transferred it in Jemima Khan’s name.”

Through this power of attorney, Jemima nominated Saifullah Sarwar Khan Niazi, now PTI’s additional secretary general, as her representative in Pakistan during the course of transferring back this land to Imran Khan. Since Jemima was unable to come to Pakistan, according to her affidavit, she had stated: “I do hereby appoint Mr. Saifullah Sarwar Khan Niazi son of Imran Ahsan Khan Niazi...to appear before the Revenue Office/Registrar and get the land transferred...”

As The News approached Saifullah Niazi for comments he neither denied nor confirmed, saying it was difficult to remember something that happened long ago. However, he confirmed that the full name appeared in the affidavit is his.

By mentioning ‘benami transaction’, the ex-wife of PTI leader has raised questions about Imran Khan’s claim that he never had any ‘benami transaction’ (nameless deal) in his dealings, private or public.

According to the definition, ‘benami’ is a transaction wherein a person buys a property in the name of another person or gratuitously transfers property to another person without any intention to benefit that other person.

In a ‘benami transaction’ the property is purchased not in the name of the real beneficiary, but someone who is his/her unofficial representative (benamidar). Many politicians and bureaucrats are understood to have purchased lands and kept accounts this way.

For example, Moonis Elahi’s bank accounts/property was in the name of his wife and a servant in the NICL scam so it does not appear in his personal details, as he has to show the source of income and how the assets were amassed.

Legal experts say benami transactions are resorted to by some people either to commit fraud on creditors, to evade taxes and thus defraud the state or to avoid certain political and social risks. It also provides an opportunity for putting black money into more productive use.

In the PTI context, why Jemima used this word remains a mystery. When PTI spokesman Shafqat Mahmood was asked about this document, he responded: “The purchase of land in Bani Gala was initially paid for by his wife Jemima Khan. Imran Khan paid her back after his London flat was sold. The property was in Jemima Khan’s name and after their divorce was gifted back to Imran Khan in 2005 by his ex wife.” “It was not a benami transaction and all relevant taxes were paid. Please contact Yusuf Islam Associates in Lahore who are Mr Khan’s tax advisors if you have further questions,” the PTI leader said. When Yusuf Islam was contacted, he said he was not allowed to disclose property details. Yusuf said the PTI spokesman had already taken up this query with him and that he refused to help.

This story is by omar cheema, who always had issues with agencies. and I am correct, someone from PML-N hired him to sabotage Imran movement,
the only way they can sabotage it, by negative propegenda,

Omar Cheema was kidnapped and beaten up badly last year and i felt extremely sorry but his articles make Imran look most corrupt and incompetent leader in Pakistan so no doubt he works for a certain political party. I wouldn't say he deserved that treatment and torture but he surely hasn't learnt any lessons.

Watch this, nice song from 4:05, would be cool if the guy participates in the jalsa like Zulfiqar Ali in Karachi :P

Just do it :ik

This event may take away Punjab from PMLN forever - Be part of history son!

Wish I was in Pakistan!!

I've been supporting IK since 6-7 years now (like many of us here) and there was never a possibility of him winning

I literally cried after the Lahore Jalsa ( I know embarrassing). I would do anything to go to this Jalsa. But sometimes, you've got to do what your elders say. :dav

6:52 am in Rawalpindi.

Getting ready to go to Liaqat bagh and be part of this historic event with my cousins. People are so scared of this venue given what happened to Liaqat ali khan and Benazir here.

Everyone is telling us not to go but there is nothing that can stop me from going there. It will be my first ever jalsa.

People in my village are willing to vote for pti at national level but they won't vote for pti's provincial candidate. They just love col Shabir awan (PPP) too much here for his work.

^^ You in pindi Insaf, thats awesome!

Take some pics, and please dont eat any cholay or gobhi before the jalsa. The venue will be tightly packed, and we dont want any unpleasant emissions to disperse the crowd

I was around Liaqat Bagh area 3 days ago and saw faheem Sidiqui a local pti candidate walking around. He is A common man walking around the shops meeting people and was very down to earth. The type of candidate I want to see run for elections.

The whole murre road area was stacked with Pti banners and saw very few banners of Pml(N) here.

Yes in pindi. Will try to take some pictures and upload later. I am planning not to eat anything. I don't want to be stuck in jalsa in a sticky situation :)

^good stuff Insaf!

You are going to be part of a historic event InshaAllah. If I were there, I would have definitely gone to this jalsa

Wonder what kind of impact will this have. trending a lot on twitter!!

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan who announced to quit politics in case any ‘benami transaction’ (nameless transaction) was established against him is now caught in a dilemma as his ex-wife, Jemima Khan, has hinted that the land deal in Bani Gala, Islamabad in 2004, was a ‘benami transaction’.

i have watched this video, imran clearly seems to be struggling with the answer.
I think, he needs to come up with clear answer for this.

Poor Jemima has to be involved in all these propaganda attacks against IK. Good that she still sincerely supports her ex- husband.
Jemima Khan ‏@Jemima_Khan

02 IK borrowed money from me to buy land (bought in my name). 03 his London flat sold. He paid me back. 04 we divorced. I transferred land.

Jemima Khan ‏@Jemima_Khan

For the last time- I will clarify the issue of IK land transfer. Nothing remotely illegal. Is this the best IK's opponents can come up with?

A stupid accusation. coz it is not even an accusation. Imran doesnt even need to defend this. Some people need an IQ check. No wonder the likes of zardari come to power in pakistan

I think that's why he was pissed off, first time I've seen him going frenzy on an anchor like that, lol, he was always about to say that "you don't know how to make a show Kashy".
But I understand him : this non issue was trending on Twitter, as if Imran Khan actually enjoyed some tax-evasion (which is why "benami transaction" are made for) or some other major corruption cases... the level of despair amongst Imran Khan's enemies is pathetic and funny at the same time.

that pindi jalsa has loosened some major screws by the looks of things..pathetic from his opponents...is this what they have left?

I no longer watch any programs unless imran is on..he is the only one that talks some basic sense..the rest just scream, shout, talk about sacrifices and just fail to answer the presenters questions..just ridiculous!!

^TGK, I would argue that some screws were already loose. As I said, this is not even an accusation. Imran has nothing to defend here.

These are what we call "chawlian"

Brother, Do you know the crowd estimation of the Pindi jalsa??

Brother, Do you know the crowd estimation of the Pindi jalsa??

You can check the "Rawalpindi jalsa" thread, there's a picture where there are the estimations, the most "sceptic" (media) put it around 70,000-80,000 whereas PTI itself goes for +100,000.

And, oh, Hanif Abbasi says that Liaquat bagh itself can't contain more than 15,000 chaps (whereas there were 20,000 seats *scratches his head*), and that the majority of them came from Manshera in trucks sponsored by Azam Khan Swati.

No, I'm not even joking, and that's actually the saddest part.

I heard there were around 200k people plus from an interviewer.

Epic response by Asad Umar..

Epic response by Asad Umar..

That video went viral, epic indeed. :)))

BTW, was already astonished that a "mini jalsa" in Mirpur weeks ago, despite only having two "known" faces (Kasuri and Abrar ul Haq) attracted thousands of peoples.
Some days ago, there was a "mini jalsa" in Gujranwala too, with local leaders and the only "known" face being Shah Mehmood Qureshi:

<iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/mQSVr6kMbOg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

So we can say that peoples go for PTI the party and not Imran Khan the individual.

hey farhan I saw you rob a thousand rupees from the shop till.. Should this accusation make you ineligible for PTI?

Its the same with this change in constitution. In the past few days we have seen some really clueless people like Absar Alam and Umar Cheema talking about benami transaction. We should be concerned whether there was anything dodgy or not. The obvious answer is that since there is an obvious audit trail with transactions backed by receipt there was nothing remotely illegal. I pity the nation where scumbags like Zardari and Sharif with obvious proofs of exponential growth in wealth without any logical reason is not questioned but mud is slung at an honest person like Imran Khan
