Let's forget all biases and hatred aside. This is a question we all need to ask without having any bias. Why? It's because the truth comes out when we leave bias aside.

Let's not speak of wicket keepers here. They have an unfair advantage over Kohli beccause they can play 2 roles in the team, which Kohli obviously can't.

But keeping wicket keepers aside can you name any player you have seen play whom you would pick ahead of the Dynamite? The player can be from any team and from any era. Which players would you prefer to have in your ODI team ahead of Kohli?

A serious question here for everyone.

As for me, I would give thought about including Viv and Sachin ahead of him. But then again, I would change my mind soon and pick Kohli ahead of both of them.

Kohli is odi GOAT only Viv can compete rest he smokes by a long distance

Kohli will leave blackhole sized void in Indian batting once he hangs up his boots.

I personally believe both Viv and Sachin are contenders, with Viv slightly ahead of Sachin .... but then again Kohli would leave both of them behind.

Viv until Kohli makes a major impact in WC. Maybe Sachin/ABDV/Ponting/Dhoni in specific conditions or match situations.

I'll take either Gilchrist or Andy flower provided the setup is current Indian batting.

I want to win a WC.

Isn't that the only excuse that Inzamam fans kept making till India's 2011 WC victory? Anyone who knew the game back then and knows it now knows that it's completely irrelevant.

India doesn't need to win a WC, just that Kohli must do better than averaging 14 at 50 SR in WC KO matches, with not even a single score above 35. That is the ultimate pressure test in ODI cricket.

That's why I mentioned him and Viv in my OP. But then again, if push comes to shove, I'll probably pick Kohli. Whom would you pick between them?

It would be a close one. Tendulkar dominated the 90’s bowlers. Don’t get me wrong Kohli has scored against everyone but the bowling quality is huge. For me Sachin edges it at the moment. If Kohli dominates the World Cup then I definitely will put him above Sachin. Even if he doesn’t if he can keep his form for a few more years, then I would pick him.

Btw scoring in World Cup would only be relevant when comparing two players of similar ability. Not something like Inzi over Kohli because of World Cup knockout knocks.

Kolhi has already eclipsed Inzamam far, far, far behind. Right now, his only competitors from Asia are Sachin and Sunny. He has left Sunny far behind in ODI cricket. His only competition right now is Sachin. And I have very little doubt that he'll get v.v.v. close to my idol, if not surpass him in Tests. He already is his equal in ODI cricket.

He is averaging 149,something for last 1000 runs :yk casi nada.

This is ridiculous. Makes it look so easy...

Living. Legend.

Damn.

I would have literally 100s of people above Kohli on the occasion of an ICC ODI Tournament Knockout.

However, I would definitely have Kohli over everyone else in history if we're playing a meaningless bilateral series against the WI/Bang/Zim on the flattest of phattas on the planet.

That's why we don't play against you in meaningless series.

Mcgrath only I think. Mostly because Kohli hasn't done too well in knock out matches in WC, while McGrath obviously has done very well and contributed in the winning of multiple trophies. Having said that, I'm sure his record in Knock out matches will be great by the end of his career.

Regardless I still feel like Kohli's the best ODI batsman ever.

If you include wicketkeepers I'd probably take Dhoni over him too, probably in the top 5 best ODI batsmen, great captain and very good wicketkeeper, easily the best finisher I've ever seen, he probably has a bigger allround worth than Kohli.

Who cares about this 20 & 50 overs rubbish?

But gun to my head, any of the 25 men who scored 100 centuries in FC or Ravindra Jadeja.
