Why are Pakistanis upset about dominating Test matches at home recently?

I don’t understand the people of this nation, especially it’s cricket ‘experts and analysts’. You only have to go as far as listening to Tanvir Ahmed’s latest Vlog on his reaction to Pakistan comfortably defeating West Indies at home through spin traps, building on their win against England.

I mean, what do you want? What’s hurting you the most? Your team had completely lost its way in Test cricket at home. Now that you have found a formula that not only makes you compete, rather it makes you dominate…what’s the issue?

Test cricket is all about the challenge. The challenge Pakistan is issuing to the world is, “we will spin the crap out of you on our decks. We will battle hard with the bat against your spinners. If you can battle against ours, then bring it!”

Pakistan have set the gauntlet and is ready to build a fortress at home with this formula. Yet our own fans and analysts just can’t get past the fact that their personal favourite player has no presence in this new formed identity of Pakistan cricket.

Pakistan's 2024-25 Home Season , so far 6 Test matches , 3 wins and 3 defeats not sure what sort of dominance is being pushed here. Anybody who has watched these games ball by ball will understand how much Pakistan dominated yes the spinners are the main contributors but the batting of team has always kept them on edge.

I am not upset.

I don't care about Babar. I'm not in that category.

I just don't think this spin strategy where the ball is ripping from day one is a. Good cricket or b. Good for Pakistan itself.

I also don't like how the preparation of a pitch has so much external interference in terms of infrastructure and also personnel involvement.

I am happy we are winning and we needed this short term boost for sure.

But it's important we keep our feet on the ground two. This could kill our cricket and make us Bangladesh if we take it to the extreme. Secondly we are also one lost toss away from this ending in pain for the current players.

I know the PCB very well. They will focus on making our domestic pitches like this too now. Soon every Tom Dick and Abdul will become Murali in domestic and we will stop producing players capable of playing any format properly.

Do you have comprehension issues?

The thread specifically relates to Pakistan’s dominating performances at home recently.

Do you like to mix things up just like you people do not understand the differences and requirements for each format of cricket?

I thought Pakistan fans are celebrating too much after winning the test match against mighty westindies at home.

Mere bhai what is the right strategy? The nation has no patience with any captain or player unless their name is Babar or Rizwan. All coaches+players are on knife edge.

They tried phattey, they thought they could make seam decks. This spinning strategy is working well. What else can they do?

This is not cricket, where a 40 YO and another older spinner bowling all day on a joke of a wicket . NO one bother to watch it in stadium and on TV also . This is quickest way to kill , what ever life was left in test cricket in Pakistan . The same bowlers are not good enough to be picker for any over series tests . Pakistan cannot even draw a test in overseas test. No Pacemen is included or required in the test 11 , no wonder once a factory of world class fast bowler , we are producing only some low level trundlers who need a long rest after playing and losing one or two test in a year.

Our FC cricket is a joke too, the standard is of club cricket and hardy any cricketer interested in playing in it.

The only strategy is that if we want to actually take test cricket seriously we must invest heavily in FC cricket and produce players who can plays across conditions

Just a few years ago we had a good test series against South Africa. In one match pacers dominated in the next spin.

Why not have grounds that embrace a wide variety of conditions that each has its own identity.

Multan can be a turner, Pindi more for the seamers, Karachi dead and Lahore whatever.

This should be the long term plan. Instead it seems like we want to artificially rig every match condition and chuck two uncles on with the new ball.

I just cant back that long term. It is an extreme overreaction to the phattas.

Just listen to this guy. Listen to the nonsense he is spewing!
Tanvir is a paid dog of Saya Mafia.

The mafia is unhappy because their main poster boy, Babar Azam, is unable to play spin.

It was due to him we had the flattest pitches ever in Pakistan where world records were made by Bazball.

The mafia through its paid dogs is constantly attacking this new strategy because they had, have and will always put their players above team’s success.

This pitch was a bit too extreme. 55-60% of this & I am all in. Most teams in the world have at least one good spinner especially the teams that are supposed to visit Pak; Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, New Zealand, Windies & South Africa all have one elite left arm spinner who can wreck havoc & this strategy may backfire spectacularly. England, & Australia don't have to tour Pak in the next cycle & they are the only two major teams that don't have a good left arm spinner.

We need a fast bowler who can reverse swing the ball & also maybe a seam bowling all-rounder but not sure if we have a good all-rounder available in the system. I don't care for batters & their inflated batting averages but I do care about winning at home consistently and this is not a safe strategy. We literally gave 7 wickets to Jomal for just 30+ runs, now imagine Santner, Patel, Maharaj, Jayasuria, on this pitch. We don't have a Younis Khan anymore so it'll be hard for us to out bat other teams, & there in lies the whole problem with such over tuned pitches.

sana mir was saying on air that this can't go on for too long and you will have to get the fast bowlers involved

The most idiotic take of all time!

For what should they be involved for?

So Pakistan can start losing again?

Mindless garbage
I can assure you Sana Mir would have no problem if it was Rizwan lapping up the credit as captain

Sana Mir would have no problem if Babar was scoring centuries and opposing team will be hitting 600+ runs.

Babar kay runs nahi dekhnay apnain?

People like Tanvir and Sana Mir haven’t won a single game for Pakistan yet feel entitled to talk big.

Visiting teams in Pak over the next WTC cycle:

RSA (Maharaj + Muthumasy + decent seam bowling allrounders so they don't have to compromise on their batting strength)

NZ (Santner + Patel + Bracewell + extreme pace in Will o Rourke & a deep batting line-up & Williamson)

Sri Lanka (Asian team with Jayasuria & other spinners available)

The only problem for me would be that we’re losing out on 2 days of cricket.

These pitches are great for Pakistan if it means that we’ll win, but you would imagine that broadcasters and sponsors wouldn’t be too pleased.

- South Africa can't play spin. Also, I've seen Muthusamy bowl. He is mediocre at best.
- New Zealand's performances in Bangladesh and Sri Lanka say just as much as their performance in India.
- Sri Lanka got whitewashed by more or less the same Pakistan team in Sri Lanka a couple of years ago.

@Rana

I'm not upset about Pakistan winning. I'm very happy. But I am salty about our pacers going down the drain.

Shaheen(post injury), rauf(minus aus), and naseem are a joke trio and odi and t20 cricket won't improve.

If your team is unable to win for 4 years at home - forget about sponsors and broadcasters.

Only success begets success, failures and personal milestones only bring shame and mediocre mentality.

pak should find batsmen who can play spin properly to backup this plan, cant aim to score 300 in every match withh paseengers like huraira, babri,kg

People speak as if its just the pitches, its just that Pakistan has better spinners than the visiting teams which is why they are able to yield better results.

Its not as if there are two different pitches when Pakistan is batting or bowling.

We play to our strengths, thats called having a home advantage.

We have done a huge disservice to Sajid and Noman for the sake of a third class player like Babar azam.

new pacers like muhammad azab, arshadullah and awais anwar shuld inducted in tests,we have had enough of these glorified trundlers who are made of glass

Yes agreed mostly the pitches versus England were ok but this pitch was a lottery and sooner then later an opposition spinner or two will nail us we are not infallible with our batting on these lottery pitches

babar azam will not survive on these pitches and will end up as 36-37 averaging batsman if he is given a free ride continuously
He never deserved to be put back in the playing 11.

Aqib Javed is compromised too and im not liking it.

Babar and his Lobby must be very upset with this strategy, they were failing to score runs on flat tracks what more will they do if Pakistan continue with the same approach of prepare spin friendly pitches. Pakistan winning matches is not enough, they want to go back to Good Old Days of these pitches.

This is a good point.

No one just comes and rolls their arm and picks up wickets. It’s not that unplayable. Sajid and Noman are seasoned spinners. They’ve not only learned the art to bowl on rank turners at home but also abroad as well in the club cricket circuit. As a spinner you still have to know the art of how to build up the pressure and release the ball with the right motion to get the best purchase.

The other thing I noted with West Indies here (in the first innings mainly) that their spinners were quite poor in sticking to a plan. Too many loose balls to Rizwan when Pakistan were 50-4 and allowing the momentum to shift

I don’t think it was too extreme. It was made to look far more difficult than it was because both teams possessed mediocre batters. Still some of the Pakistani batters showed that you can find a way to settle in and score runs.
Agreed, he thinks it was more balanced against england but the truth of the matter is england has better batters than west indies which is why they fought back hard. Its a matter of pure skill. Which players like Babar Azam lack - i cannot believe this guy and that scamster Raja fooled a whole nation into his hype.

Test cricket and Test cricket in Pakistan , in particular, have no future. These short term fixes are the way to go.

Yes. Amir sohail made this comment in jest. Next match 9 batsmen sajid and noman should play. He has a point. THey can just use 9 btasmen to score 300 and use these two. Apparently with a lot of domestic experience they are up for long spells

The one seamer they play should be an all rounder if this is the way forward.

Might as well add Jamal or Hassan Ali. At least Hassan will lick a few sixes against the opposition spinners at the back end.

Not just about Aamir Sohail or anyone. Even the Saffers are opting for short term fixes in red ball cricket and it's working fine for them.

India has been tampering pitches for years so that their mediocre spinners Ashwin and Jadeja could go merry on the opposing team. But my god, if Pakistan does it, then test cricket has no future and short time fixes. Hahaha, i love to see the misery popping out. A team that gets whitewashed by kiwis on rigged pitches talking about future of test cricket for other countries lmfao

Not sure when India had Green house, Patio heater, Giant fans to make pitches lol Never. Not sure when India completely relied on spinners to take wickets 3 tests in a row. Never. Not even one test was like that. Indian seamers always had something. Stop comparing this with Indian pitches.

When we were winning in UAE, there was a segment of Pakistani fans that had issue with us winning with spin bowlers. Alot of them whined that pakistan is a pace bowling nation and instead of playing 3 pace bowlers in UAE, why are we playing 3 spinners in such a ground.

@RidiculousMan has pointed out correctly. Alot of Pakistanis are still living in the 2ws era still believing that we are a pace bowling nation.

Had these pitches been made bowling friendly, no one would have any issue. When Sa came to Pakistan the pitch was doctored to pace friendly and we won. Naseem got wickets in one of such tours and no one complained.

A win is a win. Thats what matters. The conditions are same for everyone. No one stops incoming teams with bringing in better spinners. Nz was able to beat India because they bought in spinners

Pakistan has to do all of that because our pitches were made roads under Ramiz era so that his beloved Babar could score runs and bazballers would put 600 in return. So they had to take such actions to modify pitch conditions. Better than using a hair dryer to dry a pitch that happened in India mind you 😂😂

And yeah, You are right, Indian pitches are even worse. I have seen Clarke, and nobodies take 6 wickets there in a row.

Its just that indian spinners are extremely mediocre and indians as usual overhype their mediocre talent like Ashwin and Jadeja who cannot buy a wicket outside Asia. Not Pakistani spinners fault that they are superior.

Also, indian fast bowlers in tests have been better than Pakistan fast bowlers who are greedy, under control of Saya mafia and have no pride.

Talk about Indian pitches after Pakistan rolls out a green top to New zelanad which they did in Bengaluru. No team goes to extraordinary lengths like this to prepare pitches. I have no complaints. You have the right. But stop comparing with Indian pitches where seamers have equal say. They average 15, 16 there not 50, 60.

This.

South Africa already know what awaits them. Their batters should know that it will be a scrap. They have 10 months to make sure their batters can tackle the spin

Among the SENA countries Only South Africa tampers the pitch so much for each opposition. Australia gives generally good pitch. Against India it was an exception. They went to great lengths to change basic nature of pitches (including SCG, MCG). English pitches are 50/50. NZ pitch is a bit of lottery. You can also have your way if you win the toss.

Look man, Bumrah keeping aside his bowling action, is a generational talent. The same way Ajmal was before he got banned for his bowling action. The best fast bowler India has ever produced. He will get wickets anywhere unless its a tournament final. Then he might go missing. But we will see how indian seamers do after Bumrah, Shami retire.

Actually it was not Bumrah that dominated at home. Umesh and Shami. When West India toured last time to India it was Umesh that took 10fer. Took most wickets in that series. They were exceptional reverse swing bowlers. Pakistan has 100% right to perpare the pitches they want. No issues there.

I personally want us to be a fast bowling nation - its just more manly from a cricketing sense somehow and i do get where you are coming from.

I hope we blood new fast bowlers that take pride in donning the whites for Pakistan, and would love to see us making more balanced pitches in future.

@DeadlyVenom

I’m all for reducing the amount of spin on Pakistani pitches, but will Australia also stop preparing pace-friendly tracks and South Africa their bouncy ones, considering teams from this region struggle on those surfaces?
One sided unbalanced tracks no matter the country should be prohibited.

Regardless in Australia, West Indies have drew a a series and India have won in the past. In South Africa, Sri Lanka have won a match recently and so have India.

In our recent tour to South Africa in the second test match Agha Salman bowled 40 overs in one inning and Maharaj 45 in the over.

There is no comparison between most of these wickets and the strategy Pakistan is employing. The only comparison is Bangladeshi grounds.

Biggest myth in the history of cricket.

@Major @DeadlyVenom @Rana @emranabbas

Read some of your comments and I agree with them. Wanted to add that SA also curated a pitch in the 2nd test. They crafted a road cause they knew Pakistan couldn't outbat them.

So I don't see an issue with Pakistan curating such tracks. But I do feel pace bowling quality will tank.

Can we call pitch where a team won by 10 wiks after opposition followed on, a road?

happy pak are winning, doesnt matter in the short term how it is. anything to stop the mental run where pak were losing everything. just cook it a little less, 3 innings sub 200 aint a good look, but a match aggregate of around 1000 runs would be good to watch cricket.

You do. Revisit your posts.
Your objective is wrong. What you term as fantastic is not necessarily fantastic to me. I think Rizwan’s innings in the first innings was good.

If you are going to try and argue Rizwan’s T20 innings are fantastic, I think you are clueless.

Oh FGS, you call that useless club level cricketer Hasan Ali an all rounder for tests ?? , lucky we god rid of him and you reminding me about him again. Amer Jamal is an other fake all rounder , any tail ender bowler can score 16-18 runs . He could not take any wickets in helpful condition in SA. How long we will pay price for his one fluke good performance in Australia.

Give a chance to a new guy.

UAE pitches were much better than this. There is no comparison. These pitches are pathetic.

Also Pakistan was forced to play in UAE. Misbah made the best out of a poor situation and made us fighters there.

babri and kg should be dropped in the next match and replaced by any domestic batters who can play spin wel prefrably azan and mohammad suleiman

Who’s the 1 useless seamer you want to play who will add value with the bat?

No KG is fine.

You will need him. He shows willingness to adapt and take on the challenge.

he is not international material like huraira,he will get exposed again and again but may get a fluke here or there.
ITS astonishing Riz despite being the least talented batsman in the world, having the worst technique still manages to score 70s and 80s on difficult seaming and spinning wickets. :rosco

If you drop Babar, Hurraira and KG, you really will struggle to find any batsman to technically deal with the challenge. I can’t think of many in the domestics who can just come in and deal with the situation.

these 3 will still agreggate around 50 runs per innings which is not hard to outscore

qasim akram, mubasir khan and azan awais can be given a chance

The thread title is wrong. Just because a handful of ex-cricketers/youtubers are making negative remarks, you cant imply that Pakistanis in general are upset.

I think they dried the pitch excessively. For all four innings of a Test to end without a single score of 300 is rather extreme even accounting for the batting lineups.

It's still early days with this spin strategy so hopefully they'll get the balance right with some tweaking.

The moment they try to look for a balance, Pakistan will be back to its losing ways.

177 overs were bowled for a match result.

2 days for a match result.

It's crazy.

its very simple , if you don't have one , don't create one . Hasan's best test score is 30 , in 38 test innings , many# 11 batters have better than that .

PCB goes from one extreme to other. They prepared flat pitches which were graveyards for fast bowlers. No they are preparing spinner friendly pitches. Why don’t they have a variety of pitches which have pace and bounce, spin etc.It will help the bowlers and batters.

It is fair to ask for a pitch that will help bowlers and batters but there is no harm in making pitches to suit your team and make the most of your home advantage. India are making spin friendly tracks for a lot of years and this is one reason why they have such a good home test record in recent years.

Rambo must be feeling sore today. His star-boy Babar getting exposed as he can't play spin again. And being dumped from the commentary team for dissing Shan in front of his face after winning the test series against England.

How is that a myth? Please enlighten us.

The last fast bowler who could reach the 50 test milestone was Waqar Younis, debut 1989. At least 3 cricketing generations ago.
