Babar was already a house hold name before Mickey Arthur became Pakistan's coach. Babar is a true product of Pakistan's domestic structure. He was top scorer for Pakistan in two U19 WCs and was a well known name in cricketing circles.
From under 15's to national team, he climbed through ranks to get to #1 ODI batter. This takes hard work, which he was already doing so please don't try to paint the narrative that it was Mickey's doing.
I know you're flustered because you want all the credit to go to your beloved Misbah.
You can run when your lack of cricketing intelligence is exposed, but you can never run away from the fact that Babar peaked under Mickey Arthur during the 2019 World Cup. He showcased his ability to play against full string bowling attacks and produced his best ever innings in white ball cricket when he scored that hundred against New Zealand.
Shortly after this World Cup, Misbah ousted Mickey whilst he was a committee member. His corrupt mask slipped and the conflict of interest was there for everyone to see as he took over the reins as Head Coach.
Soon after, he made Babar captain and pushed him up as T20 opener. From that point, Babar was never the same player.
Common sense finally prevailed when Pakistan cricket finally realised this was another stupid blunder of Misbah's. Thank God Babar doesn't open for Pakistan in the shortest format.
I know you're in the UK so maybe you're used to brown nosing goras but try to give Pakistan credit some times.
The biggest Desi coconuts are in North America, that's why I tell you to stick to sports in your region because you would blend in better with the local crowd.
As for leadership credentials, not only did he get himself to #1 ranking, he also got Pakistan to ODI #1 ranking, however brief it was.
Misbah got us to #1 in tests and Babar the first captain to get Pakistan to #1 in ODIs. Get out of here with your top tier top spins on actual history
You basically proved my point. You want all credit to go to Misbah (and your other favourties). Pakistan became no.1 in tests because of YK and the spinners. Misbah’s captaincy credentials were exposed time and again, whether it be in the 2013 Champions Trophy, the 2015 World Cup, or the Test series in South Africa and Australia. As far as the latter is concerned, I still remember him running Yasir Shah into the ground with a leg-side heavy field while the commentators openly ridiculed his tactics. Misbah was, without question, the worst Test captain in red ball tests played in Australia.
As for Babar, his captaincy was so poor that Peshawar Zalmi couldn’t even trust him to make decisions without leaning on Darren Sammy. So to bring up his captaincy is a another reason why your reading of the game is best left at home.
