What's new

Why don't US/UK/Nato go to war with any strong nation?

Wait.... What?!? So a Russian empire collapsed... Hence proving they are imperialists... And in that time the UK empire has shrunk and since then Russia has started on another imperial quest..

What history are you asking me to study??

Please educate yourself on the difference between Russia and Soviets. Or ill start charging you.

Study the history of US and UK imperialism, regime change, wars, economic terrorism. Or do you feel the UK and US are good guys like Robert?

Do not bother, UK crimes against humanity are not taught in schools, just the bit where UK was perceived to be winning, this to, with the help of USSR during WW1/2.

We spent a full term studying massacres in India and the crimes in Africa.

Oh please enlighten me on how Soviets and Russians were different. Please do. Honestly... I'm desperate to know.. please explain to me how lenin wasn't a Russian.

Suppose the Nazis weren't German either

Good, then you know what a racist individual Winston Churchill was, the British Royal family was, but no, you go and annoit him for sainthood! Saviour of Britain off the annals of racism! This is what YOUR history doesn't teach you.

Nukes were completely wrong but many Japanese blame themselves than play victims , a trait which is basically taking responsibility and that’s why inspite of that the nation bounced back and not only survived but absolutely thrived.

The best thing about Japanese and Germans is how they never play the victim but motivated themselves to do better.

USA spent $billions on the Marshall Plan to rebuild the infrastructure of Germany and Japan, and set up democratic institutions.

These countries have accepted the horrors they perpetuated, and ensure by constitution that they cannot become totalitarian again.

People do know that about Churchill, who says he's a saint?
He was booted out of office at the first chance

A recent survey by the Financial Times Delay Telegraph, and The Times revealed that 60% do not have £500 in their bank for a rainy day.

Rich West my foot and backside!

West are slaves to debt!

Soviets/Russians are no different, THIS IS THE POINT, because every accusation/criticism you hurl towards Russia, the West is equally, if not more, guilty of!

You have just been brainwashed/programmed into believing If the West JC civilisation do it, it's all game, but anyone else, then its evil, immoral, and unjustified.

Post WW2 - Western regime change, Western intervention, Western wars, are all justified in the name of freedom, democracy, and liberation (don't pull out Iraq as an extinuating example).

Your problem is simple, Russia is playing the same game as the West, and you cannot stomach it!

Bosnia.

You've been schooled already, no need for anymore free education. Those days are long gone before you were born.

Come back when your Navy has an operational warship, NATO bot.

:)

Russia have been playing that game for as long as the west.

I've already told you I was against the Iraq war. Just because the US and UK did wrong, doesn't mean Russia has a free pass.

You hate the west for doing what Russia is currently doing

It is a fact. Torah, Bible, Qu'ran have no reference to white people.

Jesus (PBUH) was not White with blonde hair, and blue eyes.

Now instead of crying racism, ask yourself why the West totally revamped the image of Jesus (PBUH) from a non-white to white?

And yes, its no big secret, the White JC alliance of the West has resulted in more wars and casualties in humanity.

Facts do not care care about feeling especially when you consider Russians (a race) to be evil.

Please do grow up.

In English - I hate Western governments and their hypocrisy.

Move outside your MSM mindset, think, and learn the difference.

The west? You are talking about the church nearly 1500 years ago. You are a racist, I'm not crying about it... But you are racist.

I don't consider the Russian race as a evil.

Call out your brethren as wrong. Forget how long ago it was. Why don't you?

You are a racist, but do not realise.

You have no answer to the facts I pointed out, and plus you only care about JC europeans, and not the Muslim Europeans who were a victim of genocide under NATO.

Yes you are crying, you are the one crying racist, typical Liberal response.

Nazi party was German, its members where Germans and also others inc Jews.

Soviet Union was a communist nation with an atheist ideology. The people were always Russian, some went away from their roots and become atheist communists to seek power in a new Soviet Union but majority remained Orthodox Christians.

You dont know this but its important to know Putin was always Christian, he hid to say his prayers as a child growing up in Soviet Union , he became a massive critic once he realised working for it.

Russia now believes and follows Orthodox Christianity which is its roots and its policies are based around this ideology now.

Hope that helps :)

Came back as PM six years later, though. People were sick of food rationing.

He has become a icon of liberty, particularly for Americans, though his legacy is complex and problematic.

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said Canada and the United States were insisting that Ankara ratify Sweden's NATO membership bid before Canada resumes the export of drone cameras to Turkey, the text of an interview with media showed on Friday.

Speaking with reporters on a flight from Athens late on Thursday, Erdogan said the United States agreed with Canada on the issue, but that Sweden's NATO bid was to be decided by Turkey's parliament, after he sent the bill there for consideration in late October.

When Erdogan signalled at a NATO conference in July that Sweden would eventually get the green light, NATO member Canada quietly agreed to re-open talks with Turkey on lifting export controls on drone parts, including optical equipment, Reuters reported.

"On the issue of drone cameras we wanted from them, Canada is insisting: Sweden, Sweden. The U.S. is repeating the same thing," Erdogan said.

Turkey, a NATO member, asked in October 2021 to buy 40 Lockheed Martin Corp (LMT.N) F-16 fighters and 79 modernisation kits for its existing warplanes.

U.S. President Joe Biden's administration backs the $20-billion sale, but there have been objections in the U.S. Congress over Turkey's delaying of NATO enlargement to bring in Sweden, and over its human rights record.

"If you have your Congress, I have my parliament. You say you will take a step in the F-16 issue after passing through Congress. I also have a parliament," Erdogan said.

"If we are two NATO allies, then do what you have to simultaneously, in solidarity, and our parliament will take the necessary decision."

Turkey is choosing to make decisions about Sweden's NATO bid through its own parliament, asserting its sovereignty. President Erdogan emphasizes the need for mutual respect among NATO allies, stating that each nation has its own considerations. Turkey seeks solidarity and simultaneous actions in dealings with other NATO members, including the purchase of F-16 fighters.

Churchill may be pure evil for Indians. But for Brits, he is a hero. It depends on which side you are looking at the guy from.

I hope Turkey gets kicked out of NATO. They don't belong there.

NATO is made up of liberal western nations. Turkey is not that.

Germany is preparing for Putin attack against NATO in 2025: Leaked secret plans reveal step-by-step how Russia will escalate conflict to all-out war in 18 months

The release of the terrifying documents come just days after Sweden's civil defence minister warned that his country could soon face the prospect of war and urged citizens to join voluntary defence organisations in preparation for a Russian attack.

And Germany's defence leaders are also taking the threat from Moscow seriously, with the Bundeswehr preparing for a hybrid Russian attack on NATO's eastern flank by the summer of 2025.

The secret 'Alliance Defence 2025' document details how Russia will mobilise another 200,000 soldiers in Russia before launching a spring offensive against Ukrainian forces in Spring this year.

By June, amid dwindling Western support and weaponry, Russia would achieve success on the battlefield and make significant advances through Ukraine, according to the leaked documents.

'Trump may pull US out of Nato in second term'

NEW DELHI: In the wake of Donald Trump's recent remarks that seem to encourage Russia to target European allies over unmet Nato budgetary contributions, a number of Trump's former advisors have voiced concerns in an upcoming book about the potential for the US to exit Nato should Trump secure a second term in office. These insights are detailed in "The Return of Great Powers," set to be released on March 12, where a high-ranking official from both the Trump and Biden administrations disclosed that Trump's victory over Biden in November would likely lead to the US's departure from Nato, a CNN report said.

John Bolton, who served as Trump's national security advisor, concurred with the sentiment, expressing that Trump's inclination to leave the alliance would put Nato at significant risk. Trump's criticism wasn't limited to Nato; he also questioned the value of the US's defense pacts with South Korea and Japan. Retired General John Kelly, Trump's former White House chief of staff, shared in the book that Trump saw no merit in Nato and was firmly against maintaining US troop presence in South Korea and Japan, viewing them as unnecessary deterrent forces.

Trump's favorable views of leaders like Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un, as Kelly recalls, stemmed from a belief that Nato's existence provoked unnecessary aggression. The book also highlights how Trump nearly led the US to withdraw from Nato during his first term, with senior administration members warning that a second term could see this threat realized.

Sweden has officially become the 32nd member of Nato after it completed its accession process in Washington.

The handover of documents took place at a ceremony two years after Sweden applied to join the military alliance following Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said that "unity and solidarity" would be Sweden's "guiding lights".

"Good things come to those who wait," US Secretary of State Blinken said.

"Our defensive alliance is now stronger and larger than it's ever been," he added, thanking Sweden for its "resilience".

"This has been a little bit of a road but we've known from day one that we would be here one day," Mr Blinken said.

Nato Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said in a statement on X that Sweden brings with it "capable armed forces and a first-class defence industry" and that the alliance had become "stronger and safer".

Sweden applied to join the defence alliance after Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022 - but its request was blocked by two members.

Turkey initially withheld approval in a row over what it called Sweden's support to Kurdish separatists. It eventually lifted its veto in January of this year.

Hungary's Prime Minister Viktor Orban accused Sweden of being hostile to it and delayed its approval until last week, when the Hungarian parliament eventually voted to ratify the bid.

All Nato members are expected to help an ally which comes under attack.

Mr Blinken recalled Sweden's 200-year policy of non-alignment which lasted until Russia invaded Ukraine, saying that Nato expansion was not "foreordained" or "foreseeable".

Mr Kristersson said: "We are humble, but we are also proud. We will live up to all expectations."

"We share burdens, responsibilities and risk with other allies."

He added that security situation in the region had not been this serious since World War Two, and added that Sweden was joining Nato both to provide and to gain security.

Tensions are increasing for Russia. Sweden joining NATO has become a concern for both Iran and Russia.

Congratulations to Russia, idiots.

Are you sarcastically congratulating Russia because Sweden joined NATO?

Russia can smoke Sweden whether they join NATO or not.

NATO can bully smaller countries but bullying Russia is much harder. Russia is a nuclear powerhouse.

Russians want to move to Sweden not other way around, they can smoke or do what they want.

A nuclear powerhouse that kills its opposition leader.
Also no need to get defensive no one benefits more than Russian gas than India lol.

Russia is also partially responsible for BD independence from Pakistan.

Why are you attacking Russia then?

Also, is there any evidence opposition leader was killed? It could've been a natural death.

Strong nations like Russia and China are not and easy opposition to be messed with like Vietnam or Iran, Iraq etc. Even Afghans made a mess of the US. They would not want to start a same war like that again.

They always look for weaker nations on whose shoulders they can place a gun just like they did with Ukraine to fight against Russia.

Russia literally invaded Ukraine, they didn’t have to force anyone to fight, Ukraine was literally doing self defence.

US does the smart thing, there is no need for them to go to war, they just want their influence maintained, one doesn’t need to go on a war for that.
They are not in a wrestling match, they are in a geopolitical one.

Nato must switch to a wartime mindset, warns secretary general

The head of Nato has said it is time to "shift to a wartime mindset", as he warned the military alliance's members were not spending enough to prepare for the threat of a future conflict with Russia.

Secretary general Mark Rutte said Moscow was "preparing for long-term confrontation with Ukraine and with us", describing the current security situation as the worst in his lifetime.

"We are not ready for what is coming our way in four to five years," he said in his first major speech since becoming secretary general in October, urging members to "turbocharge" their defence spending.

His comments come weeks before president-elect Donald Trump takes office, having previously suggested the US would not protect Nato allies that were failing to spend enough on defence.

Nato members have pledged to spend at least 2% of the value of their economies - measured by GDP - on defence per year by 2024.

But speaking at an event in Brussels, the former Dutch prime minister said "a lot more" would be needed as danger "[moves] towards us at full speed".

He said European members had spent upwards of 3% of GDP on defence during the Cold War.

"If we don't spend more together now to prevent war, we will pay a much, much, much higher price later to fight it," he said.

He added that Russia's economy was "on a war footing", with its defence spend by 2025 set to be "a third of Russia's state budget – and the highest level since the Cold War".

Russia has significantly increased its defence spending since launching its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, with record levels approved for 2025.

Rutte spoke at a critical juncture in the war in Ukraine, with Russian forces grinding forward in the east of the country. By November, Moscow had seized six times as much Ukrainian territory in 2024 compared with the whole of 2023.

While the average defence spend for Nato members in Europe and Canada is estimated at 2%, not all meet the target.

Trump said in February that he would "encourage" Russia to attack any Nato member that fails to pay its bills as part of the Western military alliance.

Nato's 32 members in Europe and North America agree that if one member is attacked, the others should help defend them.

Speaking to the BBC following his speech on Thursday, Rutte said: "Donald Trump was completely right when in his first term he forced us to spend more, he was successful, we are considerably spending more than before he became president, so in that sense he was totally right."

This is why some in Nato call Rutte "The Trump Whisperer". And that, they say, is a very big reason he was chosen as Nato secretary general.

Back in 2018, then President Trump famously threatened the US would "go our own way" if other Nato members - essentially in Europe - did not spend more on their own militaries. Then Dutch Prime Minister Rutte was credited with reasoning with the US president, assuring him that spending had already gone up and that he, President Trump, was the reason for it.

And now Trump is poised to return to the White House and Rutte wants to keep the US committed to Nato and European defence. So Rutte's messaging to Trump is once again to flatter him.

As a former prime minister, Rutte well knows that Europe's leaders hesitate to spend much more on defence because voters across the continent have other priorities - rising living costs, health, migration.

That, he told the BBC, is why he aimed his speech today as his "plea" to "people".

"I'm really pleading directly to the one billion people living in Nato territory, and particularly in Canada and Europe, to ask them to help me," Rutte said.

"Call up your politicians, tell them that you agree that yes it is difficult, it will mean somewhat less spending on some other items, but that you want them, your politicians, to prioritise defence, because this is long-term crucial…

"My plea here is if you have children, grandchildren, if you think our way of life should be preserved, the democracy, our values, then we have to prioritise defence.

"And if we don't, in four or five years we are in real difficulty."

Nato should shut up, Russia cant even save Syrian allies for a day, disband the NATO and save tax payer money for Americans.

I miss @Robert a perfect example.

Majority of western population still actually believe their armies & governments are the good guys .

Let’s hope they are ready to send their kids to battle in the upcoming decades . I have a feeling they might change their looney tunes

Exactly. NATO is nothing less than a oppressive and criminal regime who then cry wolf when the same people they left without homes and family reside our shores for help. Make me sick!

Elon Musk's big push for US exit from NATO: ‘Doesn’t make sense…'

On March 2, Musk had responded a post on X which said,"It’s time to leave NATO and the UN".“I agree,” the Tesla chief executive officer said.

Musk’s comments comes at a time when the future of the 32-member NATO, which will mark its 76th anniversary in April, hangs in the balance.

According to NBC, US President Donald Trump on March 6 discussed with aides calibrating US engagement with NATO in a way that favours members of the alliance that spend a certain percentage of their GDP on defense.ALSO READ: Trump casts doubt on NATO solidarity, despite it aiding the US after Sept. 11

‘If they don’t pay, I'm not going to defend them': Trump

Trump said he told NATO allies that if they’re not going to pay their bills, he won’t defend them.

“It’s common sense, right. If they don’t pay, I’m not going to defend them. No, I’m not going to defend them," Bloomberg quoted Trump as saying at the Oval Office.

Within NATO, Europe — which largely disarmed after the Cold War — is reliant on the US for communications, intelligence and logistics as well as strategic military leadership and firepower.

European Union leaders met in Brussels for an emergency summit last week to massively increase defense spending.

The officials discussed a European Commission proposal that includes as much as €150 billion ($162.5 billion) in loans to member states for defense, as well as plans to allow countries to use their national budgets to potentially spend €650 billion on defense over four years without triggering budgetary penalties.

“In the last weeks, we’ve seen what I would call quite a turbulent development. It’s still not perhaps very clear what finally will be the American strategy," EU Defense Commissioner Andrius Kubilius told Bloomberg.

Under a 2023 law, a president can’t unilaterally withdraw from the alliance without a two-thirds supermajority in the Senate or an act of Congress.
