I'm hearing a lot about secularism and that it's good and all. But I'm seeing countries turning to the Right wing than the liberal parties.
Conservatives won the election in the UK yesterday and that showed that the idea of liberalism and secularism is not wanted in the UK. Then why do these countries try to preach others about secularism?
I get that they don't make their laws based on religion but what was Brexit all about?
Laymen voted Leave in the referendum because they thought that would limit the amount of immigrants that come in the country. Doesn't sound very liberal to me? It rather shows that the idea of multi-culturalism is dying in the UK.
Pakistan is an Islamic state, whether or not Quaid-e-Azam wanted it to be or not is irrelevant now. So why do we get lectured from the West and India on how we treat our minorities and why we have blasphemy laws?
When these two regions are turning into what they don't want us to be. People like Katie Hopkins and Tommy Robinson are gaining a lot of support and it's reflecting through the voting results.
I agree that the blasphemy laws very strict and probably not needed but no one has ever been executed through it and it'll be extremely difficult to revoke them considering how strong our Far-Right is. But that's not the point of discussion for this thread.
The point of this thread is to discuss:
Why's Pakistan becoming liberal, while other countries are tilting towards the Right-Wing, just to be politically correct?
