Both have made it to the semis. Every reason for them to rest their main players.

Momentum is key in tournaments. Benching your best players and losing a match may do a lot of harm.

So no they will both go with full strength unless someone has serious niggles.

that would be stupid, I would play my best team to kick England out. Think about it, who would you rather play in knockouts, England or Bangladesh/Pakistan????

No real reason to risk injury for their top players so could well be the case. Of course, in India's case a nice little side-effect of excluding Pakistan from the semis also :D

India would much rather knock England out if they could, it would increase their chances of winning the tournament. Who do you think they would rather face in the KO stages, Pakistan or England?

India's bench is actually stronger than their mains. (jadeja, pant, shami,dk) >>> (kuldeep, vijay, bhuvi, kedar)

You don't go into a knockout match with loss of momentum. Playing their bench may see a huge defeat against ENG. A nono from me.

If we beat Pakistan, I think we'll rotate players for the England game and play the gala XI against Aus.

It would be good ploy to not expose Bumrah, Kuldepp and Chahal vs England in a league game..just in case Eng do make it to semi's.
Let them have a look instead at Bhuvi, Shami, Jadeja , Pandya, Vijai and Kedhar bowling.
Putting these bowlers against Butler, 17sixers Morgan, Bairstow would get these bowlers some tough experience bowling against big hitters.
Also rest Dhoni and lets see how Kohli performs as captain in a game without Dhoni guidance.
Dinesh Kartik as wktkpr and with Pant getting a chance to bat at 4 to see if he lives upto his hype.

All this under assumption that India does defeat WI. If WI defeat India then experimentation may not be an option vs Eng.

To be honest, all these sides have too much pride in them to even contemplate anything like that.

This.
Think of it Ind vs Eng in Birmingham forget the standings in the group, this is a must win game for India.

We all know that.

Hopefully WI spring a surprise on India on Thursday, forcing them to bring their A game on Sunday. This all won’t matter though if we lose tomorrow.

I can see teams resting some of their fast bowlers (and they should). Other than that, not really.

No. With England teetering on the edge of elimination, both NZ and India have the incentive to play their best team every game, top the group and line-up Bangladesh/Pakistan for the semi's.

No way.

Kuldeep is a must.

Bhuvi and Shami are both equally good, if swinging conditions then Bhuvi.

Vijay and Jadhav on the other hand can be replaced by better players in the form of jadeja and pant.

It wouldn't make sense. Why disrupt momentum and a winning combination?
We actually need to change things up because we have issues.

Munro cannot continue and if Latham isn't scoring he could be dropped too. Both have been passengers this WC.

Lockie should be given a rest for a game, we don't want him to get injured ahead of a possible Semi.

But i see those changes made vs Pakistan. Nichols should be in for Munro. Wouldn't you try and finish top though and that means playing your best players?

What bench. strength lol It is already a bench team. India just has to give their best. Don't worry about the ultimate result. We have some holes that teams can exploit. We are fully prepared for that eventuality.

Group games will have effect on semi finals if tied or washout.. so, no team will risk to loose against England and give them an edge.

England is so keen on winning the world cup this year playing at home. They will do anything for that to happen. It is imperative both NZ and India kill whatever the hopes that is left.

There are no backup players in a 15 man squad. All are capable to be in the final 11.

There are already good games lost because of rain
Ind vs Eng is a bumper draw. There is no way in heck it will be taken lightly by India. They want to kick England out and hope to play Pak or BD in the SF.

There's also a.point to prove for the CT final loss against Pak. Imagine Pak winning all games and getting knocked out by Indians in SF. That would be a cold revenge

I think we should let pant play in place of Shankar or jadhav or even dhoni can be rested for last 2 matches. Just get the players a feel of WC in case he's needed due to an injury.

I think we can set it in stone.

If you wish that India will not win any more matches, they you are wishing ill for your own team as well, because it then means that the slim chances of Pakistan qualifying for the semi finals will vanish as well, because then the teams to qualify would be Australia, New Zealand, England and Bangladesh.

Including Indian back players, such as Pant and Jadeja in the playing XI will actually make the team stronger.

Doesn't really matter who we face, the other 3 teams will more or less be on the same level. All about performing on the day. People call India favorites, but I'd rather face them as they're a better match up for us. England are strong on paper and have done well, but are prone to crumbling under pressure. Pakistan blow hot and cold. Ideally I want Aus in the Final to avenge 2015.

Even though I'm not a fan of Jadeja, the ODI cricketer but he is anyday a better ODI cricketer than someone like Shankar.

In any case, Shankar wasn't trusted to bowl even against Afghanistan so there he becomes a 2D cricketer!

India: Not yet
NZ: Depends on today, if they lose, they will be going hard to confirm their qualification.

New Zealand are already on 11 points. They will qualify on NRR even if they do not win any more matches from here on.

NZ beating Australia in a world cup final is eqiuvalent to afghanistan winning the world cup lol Never gonna happen.

Not sure about Pakistanis, but Indians certainly don't think this way.

Jadaja is a dud in odis, a premium darter and batting-wise no better than a tailender.
