The biggest point of discussion is obviously why Dhoni was not included. Here is the explanation:-

It wasn’t easy keeping out a T20 World Cup-winning captain, but Karthik’s latest comeback has been just enough to snatch the wicketkeeper/finisher’s spot. His is the longest T20I career ever, starting with India’s first-ever match in the format, and extending into the upcoming T20 World Cup. Along the way, he has held several roles (and every batting position from opening to No.7), but it’s in the role of cameo specialist that he’s truly thrived. At No.6 & 7 – the position we’re filling here – Karthik’s strike rate of 150.31 is much higher than Dhoni’s 121.15.

Discuss!

Well deserved and brave selection by Wisden in my opinion. DK deserves to be picked in this format ahead of MSD who inspite of being a lower middle order batsman had extremely poor strike rate of 123. :inti

Agreed with the list overall but Gambhir should have been there as opener and rest pushes one spot down. Maybe drop Suryakumar as it is too early for him.

MSD makes the team on captaincy alone. He’s been the key mastermind behind some face saving wins for India. Prevented a loss to Bangladesh in t20 WC by 1 run, and helped defeat Pak by 5 runs in a final.

Hardly surprising but I am surprised to not see KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant there. :murali Just goes to show Karthik's importance even though he got less chances than Pant. Karthik should play all matches in the upcoming world cup. :inti

Too early to add SKY there.
Dhoni wasn't very good in international T20s though. He only had this finisher's aura.

Yes, his strike rate was 121 compared to DK's 150.

Instead of Suryakumar, the other candidates would be KL Rahul, Virender Sehwag or Gautam Gambhir I believe.

Yes

Gambhir
Rohit
Kohli
Yuvraj
Raina
Pandya

Dhoni probably won't make second XI as well lol. Catch up king. Always tuk tuks right till the end and hits a four or six to make the strike rate look semi decent

Rahul has played some incredible knocks over the years. He hasn’t been at his best lately but it is harsh to pick SKY before him at this stage.

Can’t stand Dinesh Karthik and his stupid helmet. He is incredibly lucky to still be playing for India. He was mediocre in 2004 and he is mediocre in 2022.

Yes, generally he would be scoring 20(23) till 19.4 overs and then hit a four and six to get to 30(25) ending with a strike rate of 120 and his fans will go gaga about MSD hitting a SIX of final ball of the innings/match :91: :inti

Dhoni was never destructive after being promoted as captain. He was more a finisher, just like michael bevan. So its justfiable to keep him away from all time t20s

Dhoni was in the team because of his captaincy. :inti

Doubt he was that good a captain in T20 Internationals. He was the only captain who captained his team in so many T20 world cups except 2007 his team exited in group stages in most of the editions.

Same story with Ravindra Jadeja also. He played T20 World Cups regularly from 2010 onwards and he was pivotal in ensuring that India don't win any WT20 tournament as apparent by his poor T20 record in World Cups as well as bilaterals. He was only playing because he did well in other formats. :inti

Don't worry. We have found Jadeja's replacement. His name is Rishabh Pant. He has also ensured that India don't win any T20 tournament so far. Let's see whether he can change it this time or not. :rabada2 :inti

That is a list of chokers except for Kohli, Yuvraj and Rohit ( to a certain degree ) in WCs..

Looks like Urvashi Rautela and you are fighting for top spot . So much obsessed with RP. Even when Jadejas name is in post you drag pant into it.

By any chance are you Urvashis boyfriend?

I can give you a befitting reply but since I am on a forum I will let mods handle a troll like you. I will talk about Pant/Pandya wherever its relevant. Who are you to stop me? The only one who looks obsessed is you and that too with me. Go away before I start getting personal with you now. :inti

Gambhir would be a great choice there.

Reason for Gambhir exclusion is that he does not have the greatest T20 record overall. But boy, he was our best batsman in the finals of last 2 WCs India have won. Cult hero.

Or Paine's Indian brother? :91:

Wonder what has Pant got to do with that post. He played only one WT20. Jadeja has been around for 5-6( not sure if he qualified for all but that's besides the point). :inti
