Questions :
[a] will the strip have as much grass & provide swing as it did during 1st test here ?
will BD play 3 pacers or stick to 2+2 combo ?
[c] can BD team compete on a surface where there is help for pacers ?

On paper bangladesh are superior to Zimbabwe, but alien conditions, over confidence, lack of fitness might haunt us once again. Wont be suprised if we lose again, or make a good comeback and thrash the zimboks.

Fitness really matters. I hope that shafiul, tamim and shakib are fit for tomorrow and mominul is played instead of riyad cowan(i might have insulted cowan here :13 ).

from cricinfo :
Pitch and conditions
The ground staff has had four days to prepare the pitch and it has rained on two of those so far. Taylor hoped it will be similar to the pitch they played on in the first Test but did say it might be a bit slower and will take a bit more turn. The weather is expected to be clear over the five days but cooler than it was during the first Test.

This is some sort of final frontier.

We had a fair share of excuses for the last game: Unfit players, hotel trouble, lack of practice. Hopefully, key players will be fit and there is no need to mention about the Practice matter, because we already had done enough practice in the First test :))

How? You don't have a fast bowler nearly as good as jarvis and your spinners are mediocre, and most of your batting line-up are hacks.

Our batting lineup is much better than that of zimbabwe, if you have any doubt, compare the averages. True that we dont have anyone at present as good as jarvis. Mashrafee is a quality pace bowler, but out of contention due to injury. And we have decent enough spinners to trouble opposition batsman

Why they are not fit? I don't remember BD playing that much this year.

BPL-45 days of continuous cricket with players even have to play 3 matches in 3 days. BCB probably will cut down on the number of matches for the sake of resting players.

Also, the physio has been poor. He usually identifies injuries when its too late. It was later found that rubel was not fully fit for the 1st test yet the physio declared that he is ok, though he wasnt.

Zimbabwe will start as favorites... Bangladesh need to play outta their skins to draw/win this

You'd think that if Bangladesh can get rid of Taylor early, that's 50% of Zimbabwe's batting done.

That said, I hope they thrash them again. A win in this one (and thus a drawn series) will do Bangladesh no good.

true, apart from taylor, meth and waller, the batsman looked clueless even against our bowlers. Getting taylor out EARLY in both innings and we can gurantee that we can beat them, given that we dont make shingy and meth look like marshall and mcgrath respectively

Yeah I like Keegan Meth too. He was the guy who on the last tour broke all of his teeth during a one-day game because a Bangladeshi bat smacked the ball right into his mouth.

Added him on Facebook after the incident, and shortly after he uploaded the photo of his jaw. Wasn't a pretty sight.

Zimbabwe start as favourites on this one. They have a far superior and professional side to Bangladesh.
Bangladesh are spoilt brats who want to lay all their troubles on other peoples door.

Oh really?

Give a case of a bangladeshi player fixing, cussing, retiring and coming back from retirement, ball biting Unprofessional or not, you cannot call our players spoiled brats. Our players play with a lot of passion. When shakib and tamim were asked by their IPL teams whether they would skip Zim tour for IPL, both of them said: "Country first, everything else comes later".

Please do not make this kind of a comment without thinking twice, you sound like a fool

who said anything about the IPL? I'm talking about their general attitude towards the game. Going on Tour without preparing for a tour match and then blaming Zim for that. The BPL/BBL when they should use that money to improve their 1st class structures etc etc..
And the name calling? whats up with that?

Zimb should prepare turners to give Bangladesh some chance. At least there will be a fight.

Zimbabwe will obviously win this second test match. People say Taylor is the key wicket but then again, players like Waller, Sibanda etc can also bat really well.

It's sad that it has come to this - statements like the above should be taken as a given, unless you're explicitly dying to be a freelancer in the mould of a Gayle or a Pietersen - though the former isn't contracted to play cricket for one nation, and the latter plays for a nation other than his own - so the patriotism element of it all is mildly questionable in both of those instances.

As for Mortaza, hasn't he been hampered by injuries for his entire career? Perhaps he is a 'quality bowler', but only by Bangladeshi standards, as he would struggle to make it to a sub-continental XI even.

Look, not having the practice match was not anyone's fault. Blame the cricket boards.

And about investing on improving on 1st class. Our cricket board is trying its best to improve but in a country run by politics there will be issues.

If we had a proper pace academy like India/pakistan, a decent first class structure, proper List A tournament since the time we got our test status, we would have been world beaters at present. Its not our choice that we are a country torn by external factors. We only have a handful of cricket stadiums with proper facilities. Other stadiums are poor, and there is no option to travel to those cities by plane.

You might not have seen mortaza enough. He was a quality bowler who would bowl in a good line and length consistently, and I think he can get into Indian and Lankan team as well. Its a shame that he gets injured easily.

All the best to Bangladesh, let's see how much fight they put up this time.

@Executioner

BCB should sack Vibhav Singh, don't know why they persist with him if he is below par. And 3 back to back games are crazy, sack the person who created that BPL schedule, it's slavery.

Ditto

The physio should def. be sacked.

And BPL schedule was really pathetic. Last year it was 6 teams who played each other twice, this year the increased number of teams to 7 and each team played 12 matches which is a lot for the period of time. It would have been wise to cut down on the number of matches. Another factor could be that teams were unable to hire a decent physio due to payment reason. Infact, last year there were some good coaching staffs like robin singh, dean jones, bevan, stuart law, Fountain. This year, only noticable coach was Pont, end of story. The payment issue was not only confined to players, but coaching staff as well. All would have been well if everyone was payed.

We have a pace academy? Where? That MRF thing?

Sounds like a white elephant organization to me.

171-4. Should look to get close to 280 without loosing more than 1 wicket at the end of the day

The 4 wickets lost are all gifted! that's Bangladesh Cricket for you. Bangladesh missed a huge opportunity of posting a 350+ score and put Zimbos under pressure.

Thats actually false, zimbabwe has a better batting line up (for tests anyways). The decent batting average of bangladeshi players is thanks to the dead subcontinent wickets

thanx for the info i did not know India had a pace academy. You have mentioned so many excuses but tell me how is it that money is thrown on foreign players through the BBL not Domestic structures? Do politicians think its ok to throw money around?
Anyway dont you think its best for Bangladesh to be stripped of their Test status untill they have sorted out their internal squabbles?

No its best that we keep playing test because this is the format that helps to develop the players more than any other format.

BTW, BD playing well, 235-4

What a circus, they're trying to give their wickets away every few overs.

Another drop.

Looks like our batsman are trying to get some runs before the New ball comes into play. not a bad idea, but hey, this is a test.

And I dont think zimbabwe will have any chance of winning this match if they keep dropping catches like that

Shakib 12 test 50s but only 2 of them were converted into 100s but here's the interesting fact about his batting in his short test career. He has nearly a dozen scores of 80+ so technically he wasted 10 test 100s to his name. Needs to stop playing silly shots, no wonder people criticise so heavily on our test performances. The wickets fallen today have all been gifted.

no need to blame shakib for not scoring 100s. I dont think he cares about personal records anyway.

What is questionnable is how other batsman like jahurul fail to score a 50 even after 7 test matches. I think any team will not mind if they have a player who has a dozen 80+ scores. Guys like riad, ashraful, need to play smart

Successful day for our batsman irrespective of the events that took player. We played better cricket and zimboks were just horrible in the fielder. Bowlers bowled well and deserve 10 wickets but their fielders were lacklustre.

Nasir is a proper batsman and given that zia and gazi are no mugs with the bat. Need to bat till lunch and the game is ours. Looking how viciously cremer was turning the ball, BD should feel confident. I think zimbabwe could have gone with price(where the hell is he?)

I think no practice matches was the reason why Bangladesh failed so miserably in the first test. You cannot expect a team to adjust from slow low pitches to seaming ones just with the snap of your fingers. But despite Bangladesh scoring 300, 6 wickets in which 5 were gifted is unacceptable at this level.

As much as we detest this sort of aggressive batting, i dont think asking them to slow down and play sensibly wont be the best choice, because our batsman look better when they are scoring freely. When they get bogged down, they commit hara kiri. Mushfiq and shakib dropped anchor at once, but at the latter part of his innings Sakib tried a bit too many shots

So 300/6. Pretty even I would say.

Time for Zimbabwe to now polish off the tail and Taylor to fire to surpass this total.

Go Zimbabwe!

that LOL moment when you realize, that Bangladesh is yet to lose a match when jahurul has scored a half century or more.

Take that haters :)) :))

Brilliant performane by our boys so far. 400 should be a minimum from here. Nice to see some positive batting which will ensure that the match will have a result

unfortunate dismissal for Nasir. How often do we see this happening.

Anyways quality innings from Nasir Hossain :14:

391 allout. A very good score considering how slow the outfield is. 391 on this pitch is as much as 500 on normal outfields.

Its time to see how our marshals and lillees bowl. If we can get taylor out early the match is ours

Robiul Islam stranded by Sajid, Sajid needs to be dropped, Robiul looked good for a century. Robiul needs to open the batting with Tamim. Jahurul should be last down.

I don't think apart from Rabiul any others are major threats. Gazi only bowled well in Bangladesh, outside Bangladesh he's very poor also the shot he played to get out, disgraceful. Most of the wickets were gifted, nothing special from Zimbo bowlers. This Test match has to be the worst in history that I have watched, dropped catches, missed run outs, scoring of edges. Battle of the minnows what can I expect :odoyo

Bangladesh has been bowling very well

Our newbie bowlers bowling way better than those 3 idiots: abul, rubel and shahadat

cricinfo comment : Ian: "It's rarely encouraging when both opening bowlers have a higher bowling average than the batting average of both opening batsmen."

None of these guys have played test cricket for too long. A total of 15 matches between them.

i really hope bangladesh lose just to shut up all the cheerleaders of this crap team.

I think the match is in our hands right now. If we can get them all out before lunch tomorrow the match is ours.

Also dont like the defensive mindset of Zimbabwe batsman. They are getting bogged down and will end up gifting their wicket soon enough

Oh yea Taylor is equal to Don against Bangla i agree

i really hope bangladesh lose just to shut up all the cheerleaders of this crap team.

And what fault have the "cheerleaders" have done? Cricket is one of those few things a poor country like BD can look forward to. These guys are our heroes and no matter we will keep supporting them.

Crap or not, these guys play for their country. Like i said earlier, you will not find any news of a bangladeshi player doing something disrespectful
