After a neck-to-neck encounter in the first T20I, Pakistan will be confident going into the second match on Friday, 23 April.

Overview:

Zimbabwe vs Pakistan, second T20I
Harare Sports Club
Friday, 23 April, 09:00 AM GMT / 11:00 AM LOCAL

Zimbabwe found themselves in a commanding position during different phases of the game in the first match of the three-match series. Despite a controlled bowling performance, fielders and batters failed to back them and Pakistan outclassed them in the bowling department.

The hosts will fancy a chance at restoring parity in the second game as Pakistan’s middle order is struggling to fire, resulting in the team being heavily dependent on the openers Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan to do the majority of the damage.

Remember the last time:

Rizwan’s single-handed efforts of unbeaten 82 from 61 balls to help Pakistan reach a competitive total of 149/7 gave the visitors a fighting chance to make a comeback with the ball.

Zimbabwe’s Tinashe Kamunhukamwe (29), Craig Ervine (34), and Luke Jongwe (30*) resurrected the hopes of a victory before Usman Qadir foiled their plans as he triggered a middle-order implosion. He returned 3/29 while Mohammad Hasnain (2/27) also took important wickets. Pakistan came out on the top with an 11-run win to go 1-0 up in the series.

What they said:

Mohammad Rizwan (Pakistan Opener): “There is always a home conditions advantage but we have world-class bowlers who have adjusted really well to the changed conditions from South Africa. The batters too have an idea of the pitch performs and hopefully we will post a huge target in the next match.”

Sean Williams (Zimbabwe Captain): “It is inexcusable the number of catches we dropped which ultimately cost us the game. We need to improve our fielding. We will go back to the drawing board and improve better in the next game.”

I think you have the time wrong game comes on at 10am GMT

You are confusing BST with GMT

09:00 Friday, Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) is
10:00 Friday, British Summer Time (BST)

It is rumoured,Nawaz and Haider will not play today.Arshad will debut and Asif will make a cone back.Asif,Nawaz and Danish should not have been selected in the first place.Haider failed to impress. He should go back to domestic cricket. He is not ready for international duty.

I've just heard similar but I'd have left Nawaz alone.

Apparently Craig ervine is out of the series
That means there won't be any competition this series
They have to play brendan Taylor now

Pakistan have won the toss and are bowling first in the 2nd T20I against Zimbabwe

Asif Ali comes back. As I have said before, as long as Misbah is there, Ali will be a part of the team.

The plot is to get Asif Ali to somehow score 20-30 runs and then justify his selection for the next series.

Quick question: Is Sharjeel not part of the squad? Isn’t this the same squad as the one against SA?

Sensing 90 (30) from the Legend, the Icon, the Thug Asif Ali.

Prepare for a Juma Miracle.

It is despicable that they are not playing Sharjeel. They should have included Sharjeel instead of Asif Ali.

Misbah has laid the groundwork for Asif to be included in the next series.

Why stop their!?
He has laid down all the work for asif ali just like a daddy taking care of his precious baby .
Asif ali just had to be there enjoy the vacation give some catching practice to the fielders that's all.

So we chase against Zimbabwe too.
A target of 200 for us would be good.

Go Zimbabwe go

Injustice to Haider Ali if u are replacing him with Asif Ali. Sharjeel would have been better option here.

Chicken hearted side

Bowling first against minnows on a flat track

Cannot bat but gets selected as a specialist batsman

Also cannot bowl

Cannot field but stands in 1st slip

Performance doesn’t matter , but gets selected again and again.
Who is he?

Kamunhukamwe seems more of an ODI than T20 batsman looking at his domestic stats.

Consumes too many dots in the PP.

Pakistan clearly not confident on Standing firm and batting strong.

Weak hearted nation

Pakistan fielding has been sound on the African tour. Good to see Arshad given chance.

Is the pitch as sluggish as it was during the last T20 ?

Babar saying they are giving Asif Ali a "chance".
A chance to score a few runs against Zim to guarantee future selection?

Pakistan had a worse start in the last match. These are not the free flowing pitches.

Pitch doesn’t look great, some bounce but ball not coming on.

This Kamunhukwame looks like he straight came out of Sharjeel's school of batting in the powerplay

What business does Babar Azam and Hafeez have playing these pointless games?

Arshad Iqbal is unlike the usual style of Pak pacers and likes hitting the deck hard around that good length. Can provide the much needed variety to many kiss the surface bowlers we have. Can obviously be handy in tests as well in places like Aus, SA where our pacers generally are not that great.

This series is a waste of time.

You're playing a full strength team against a Zimbabwe side. You're not playing any young players, there's no aggression. You're bowling first when you should be scoring 200 odd.

What are we doing here?

Yes will be handy in the tests in SENA countries, a good height to extract that extra bounce as well.

No Shaheen and Hassan. Also Nawaz has been rested today.

People shouldn’t forget this tour is happening during a pandemic and team had to come straight from SA. There couldnt have been a completely separate squad for Zim sent out by a chartered flight and then having them quarantine as well before the start of the tour.

I would have also share same feeling like you, if not Pakistan have a some middle order. They have such a horrendous middle order that there is absolutely no space to experiment and as a result have to play with full strength at the top order to make up for non existent middle order.

Worst start to a day

Why win the toss and bowl first against minnows!

Misbah stats paddling

He will use these pointless wins to apply for further jobs in Pakistan in the future

Just tuned in and I can't help but be surprised that Asif Ali is playing again... great.

Last time Pakistan were in trouble batting first on this wicket. That must have had some bearing on the decision to bowl first here.

It would have been nice to have tried Aamir Yamin or Amad Butt this series.

Arshad iqbal can be a good option for tests in nz,sa,Aus.
Hit the deck accurate bowlers are very rare in our system
