Pakistan is set to face Zimbabwe in the third and final One-Day International of a three-match series. After losing the first encounter, Pakistan thrashed Zimbabwe in the 2nd ODI to level the series. Under the leadership of Mohammad Rizwan, Pakistan recently achieved a remarkable ODI series victory against Australia on their home soil. However, the Men in Green will be without several senior players, including Babar Azam, as a younger squad has been chosen for the challenge against the Chevrons.

All eyes will be on Saim Ayub and Abdullah Shafique, who impressed with the bat during the Australia series. Skipper Rizwan will be pivotal in leading the side, supported by Kamran Ghulam, while Agha Salman and Irfan Khan Niazi are expected to strengthen the lower middle order.

On the Zimbabwean side, much will depend on Sikandar Raza, known for delivering standout performances in home conditions. Craig Ervine and Brian Bennett will be key figures in the batting lineup, while Sean Williams and Blessing Muzarabani pose significant threats with their experience and skill.

As the action unfolds at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo, all eyes will be on how the pitch and conditions impact this intriguing contest.

Squads:

Zimbabwe
: Joylord Gumbie, Tadiwanashe Marumani(w), Dion Myers, Craig Ervine(c), Sean Williams, Sikandar Raza, Brian Bennett, Brandon Mavuta, Richard Ngarava, Blessing Muzarabani, Trevor Gwandu, Faraz Akram, Clive Madande, Tashinga Musekiwa, Tinotenda Maposa

Pakistan: Saim Ayub, Abdullah Shafique, Kamran Ghulam, Mohammad Rizwan(w/c), Agha Salman, Haseebullah Khan, Irfan Khan, Aamer Jamal, Haris Rauf, Mohammad Hasnain, Faisal Akram, Abrar Ahmed, Shahnawaz Dahani, Ahmed Daniyal, Tayyab Tahir

Wow two contrasting games more like T20s than Odis only around 120 overs played and we are 1-1

Cannot wait for the final

Pakistan are favorites, the loss in first ODI was embarrassing, the same way Zimbabwe embarrassed India recently but it remains to be seen that can Pakistan win the series against them too.

Today victory was quite convincing

When did India lose to zimbabwe in a ODI? It was 14 years back.

Pakistan should dominate Zimbabwe again. Win the toss and bat first and post a huge total. Give your batting a full chance.

Should drop Amir Jamal and play Daniyal as he can also slog a few like Jamal and can bowl at 145k+.

Yes. this is the only change I want. Let haris stay there as Dahani has no credibility so better to go with Haris. Although Ahmed Daniyal should definitely play

Dahani will be cannon fodder on these pitches as his pace drop drastically once the ball hit the pitch. He can only useful on a fast SENA like pitches. Same applies to Hasnain as his pace also drops significantly once the ball hit the pitch no matter what the speed gun is showing.

Jahandad ,Ihsanullah and Ali Raza are the only bowlers we have whose pace doesn't drop much after pitching.

Ihsanullah 140k delivery comes rapidly after pitching compare to Hasnain 140k delivery and batsmen has very less time to react.

There was this English bowler who played in Pakistan where they were showing both speed from hand an after pitching , Dahani fastest bowl was 147k that series but off the pitch it was only 123k and that English bowler highest clocked speed was 138k but his off the pitch pace was 132k and even Shaheen , Naseem , Waseem were slower than him off the pitch. Mark Wood also only had a 10k gap his fastest was 153 and off the wicket speed was 143k which was much faster than Rauf 135k off the wicket pace.

Yep. You are right. bowlers like dahani and hasnain will only excel in SENA conditions where there is pace and bounce. They are one-dimensional bowlers actually.

Just 1 change is enough here but I think rizwan will go unchanged

This is what happened in game 2 in case somebody missed the game. Saim was fantastic

Injury update: Pakistan cricket team

Bulawayo, 27 November 2024:

Fast bowlers Ahmed Daniyal and Shahnawaz Dahani have been ruled out of the ongoing One-Day International series against Zimbabwe and will return to Pakistan today (Wednesday).

Ahmed sustained a hamstring injury, while Shahnawaz suffered a left ankle injury during Sunday’s training session. Initial scans and clinical assessments confirmed their respective injuries.

Upon their return to Lahore, both players will report to the National Cricket Academy, where they will undergo rehabilitation and follow the prescribed protocols to ensure a safe return to competitive cricket.

The duo have been replaced by Abbas Afridi and Jahandad Khan, who will arrive in Bulawayo in time to be available for selection in Thursday’s series decider. The two are part of the Pakistan team for the T20I series, which will also be played in Bulawayo on 1, 3 and 5 December.

Meanwhile, Ahmed Daniyal has been replaced by Aamer Jamal in the three T20I series. Aamir is a member of the ODI squad and featured in both the ODIs.

Pakistan T20I squad: Salman Ali Agha (captain), Aamer Jamal, Arafat Minhas, Haris Rauf, Haseebullah (WK), Jahandad Khan, Mohammad Abbas Afridi, Mohammad Hasnain, Muhammad Irfan Khan, Omair bin Yousuf, Qasim Akram, Sahibzada Farhan, Sufyan Moqim, Tayyab Tahir and Usman Khan

Team Rizwan favorites, hopefully they won't bottle it under pressure of being a series decider.

Can Pakistan retain the Urn ⚱, another feather 🪶 in Rizwan 👑 it will be hopefully the boys will be charged up :waqar

Pakistan/Zimbabwe ODI Series

All-rounder Jahandar Khan and fast bowler Abbas Afridi reached Bulawayo

Both the players were included in the squad in place of Ahmed Daniyal and Shah Nawaz Dhani

The third ODI between Pakistan and Zimbabwe will take place tomorrow

The national squad rested today before the third match

must be an easy win for Pakistan but be prepared for any surprize because after all its Pakistan team lol

Sorry, but there is absolutely nobody in this current Pakistan team that is good, nothing entertaining or exciting compared to the Indian team or Pakistan team from yesteryears. Zimbabwe playing like its a local league game, is this how good the current Pakistan team is… oh brother!

How do you know this? Is there any data for this

Zimbabwe performed so poor, don't know whether they have been saving the best for the final ODI

Just wanted to see Irfan Khan bat at the top of the order. May be like Rohit Sharma, he can come as handy.

I didn't care about this series as its Zimbabwe but a few key takeaways from this series

Positives

1) Saim Ayub is improving. He had good performances against australia and here hes replicated it by giving zimb a proper minnow treatment.

Negatives

1) Hasebullah is proving himself to be the most useless selection of all time.

2) Niazi is showcasing that he's ordinary. He isn't the worst thing on this planet but he's ordinary nonetheless

3) Even though KG has only played one game, this series + the aussie series proves that he's a poor replacement for Saud Shakeel atm. He might change in the future but so far he's been ordinary.

4) Husnain and Rauf are back to their old trundling ways now that aussie conditions no longer favour them.

5) Captain Clueless is still selfish when it comes to batting. No urgency for drs and still isn't willing to let go of the no 4 position for team combinations.

6) Abdullah Shafique is proving himself to be another 🖐️ Opener.
