Zulfiqar Babar Performance Watch Thread

he took a few wickets in t20 and thinks himself to be a star

going at over 4 an over plus can't take wickets....overhyped

Babar gets wickets, should calm his nerves and a stronger performance in the rest of the match
 
Haters should keep mouth shut until match is over ! Zulfi is special young boy
 
As I thought, a wicket has given him real confidence, looks a much better bowler now. I reckon he'll be a handful in the 2nd innings.
 
Some people here just do not understand the ingredients of a quality player.

Babar is a leggie, he will give away runs at times.

But he is a wicket taking bowler and is incredibly gifted.

I have called for his inclusion into the test team since the West Indies tour and I am glad PCB have listened.

Some posters here lack cricketing knowledge.
He averages 20 in FC and gets bal to turn vigorously, its obvious he's special...
 
LOL at knee jerk reactions from the posters. Babar is a quality bowler. Outperformed Ajmal :)).
 
people were judging him here after first 15 overs in test cricket seriously.
 
Zufi bowled brilliantly today, will be unplayable once the pitch starts turning!
 
Zulfi has been the most consistent performer over domestic scene as well we have seen how good he is at intl level in his few outings....Anyone who knows ABC of spin bowling can see he is a class bowler and if someone needs evidence then Qadar said he is a complete spin bowler....so whatever his stats are or will be i have no doubt about quality of his bowling.......

ability to spin the bowl away from right hander from very wide of screen is very rare...still many people had doubts over his inclusion over Rehman even Misbah could not identify him

You obviously are very skilled at picking up a quality player considering we weren't even aware that he was a leg spinner.
 
Was great today, really shut up some buffoons like the OP who were jumping up and down only after his first spell.

OP? Hello what do you mean?

Read the OP and my replies in the thread first i started this thread on his debut T20I match before a couple of months in his support and i was supporting him on his Test debut also yesterday when a few people started blaming him in his first spell.

Ajmal turns every ball a little bit. Babar turns out 3 out of 10 balls but they turn miles.
 
I think Pakistan are lucky to unearth another world class spinner in zulfi which will add to their bowling might which is the best in the world ...
 
Zulfi can play easily for another 4 to 5 years

Too bad he has been thrown so late, don't know if it has to do with his performances (like Saeed Ajmal), but at 34, he still has half a decade or more to play, can serve our cricket well even if he'll not be remember as an ATG (not enough wickets), Zafar Gohar is 18 and he's seen as a future prospect, has been bullying batsmen on U19 level and literally got a minimum of 3 wickets/innings in our team's successful tour to England this summer and, with Raza Hasan (21), our spin bench strength/future looks good, and until Ajmal and/or Babar call it a day, I'm sure we'll find another gem (hopefully a leggie, Gohar/Hasan are slow left arm).
 
Goo debut. I would go back to Abdur Rehman if he is available in the second match
 
Can Zulfiqar Babar play the ODIs for Pakistan instead of 3rd Seamer?

Pakistani Bowling attack in ODIs:

1) Junaid
2) Irfan
3) Zulfi
4) Ajmal
5) Hafeez

6) Sohaib (6th bowling option)
 
Did his job in both inns and should play in the 2nd test.

So has he really justified his place ahead of Rehman?? I dont think so, i feel Rehman is a much better spinner
 
He is really a good bowler, and everyone has a day off. I think with Raza Hassan still groom Pakistan has nothing to worry about spin bowling.

I know he's a decent bowler, but he hasnt done enough to get persisted with ahead of Rehman, who has been extremely good in test matches
 
was fairly expensive today but it doesn't matter because Afghanis had nothing to lose
 
Afghans slogged all the way through. An other day he would have picked up a 5 wicket haul. I hope he plays against SL in the ODIs.
 
4 wickets for 16 runs in 4 overs today in T20 match against Karachi Zebras.
 
He was sensational today and he should be a certainty for the T20 wc.

I would like both him and Raza Hasan in the squad because in BD, most of the pitches are spin friendly.
 
He is more talented than ajmal. It is so tough picking between him and rehman. I believe he should be our surprise package for the t20 world cup or recall mr raza hasan

I too would have him in the squad ahead of Raza and Abdur. All three have been exceptional in this spin-dominated tournament but it's the way Zulfiqar bowls that makes him such a classy bowler.
 
He is too good to not be in the T20 WC squad!!

He had amazing figures against the powerful batting line up of the Lions.
 
Bowled in the warmup match today but wasn't impressive like before.
 
The danger I see with him nowadays is he bowls far too many "hit me for six" deliveries.

For us to win this tournament, we will have to shun the big hitters. Australia are clear favorites for this and we choked them brilliantly last time around. Raza in particular did very well because he bowled flat and quick without giving time to the batsmen to get underneath.

Watson in particular feasts on such loop. I remember him hitting Ashwin and co for 5/6 sixes in the space of 2/3 overs. The same could happen with Babar.

Afridi too is a hit-table spinner. That leaves AJmal and Hafeez as the only 2 who will regularly bowl miser spells.

Babar should not play which means an additional seamer and they are awful as well.

Pretty tricky situation this. Lets hope Babar regains his bowling form he first displayed in a Pakistan shirt.

Sorry don't follow cricket as much as I use but why has Raza not been selected for this squad? I mean I also remember his performance vs Australlia and he was tactically sound in terms of bowling. Bowled some clever deliveries. Another victim of being poorly developed/treated by the PCB?

He got injured and wasn't selected again.
 
Babar is a class act. His performance today was okay; not too good but it wasn't bad either and I expect him to come good when the tourney starts.

Typical PCB. PCB, who feel the "Big three" plan does not show equality (rightly so), but yet themselves are hypocrites in terms of consistently showing unfairness to players when it comes to developing.

So many youngsters with promising talents because of that have had their dreams sold or potential unfulfilled.

He is just okay. Don't think we need him much and age isn't on his side either.

He has a really nice action - very classical and orthodox. Nice to see from a finger spinner in this day and age.

I think raza spins it more, control is lacking when he loops it up but that will come with experience.

So far this game is just confirming what i already think

that babar is good but raza is the better limited overs bowler
