2015 World Cup SA v WI Result | South Africa beat West Indies by a massive 257 run margin

Yes Amla is looking good for a 100, another donkeys 100, MCG is so flat, all the Aussie grounds are flat expect for the Gabba and Perth but even Perth has slowed down.

Even AUS don't want to play SA in Perth. SA has good record on faster pitches in AUS.

IN AUS toss will be a big factor when top tier teams playing. SA like us are poor chaser, for them to win against AUS/NZ they need luck for toss.

Let's see Indian performance against when they chase 300+ against good team in AUS.

Lol now I know not to take you seriously. Quickest batsman to 2000, 3000, 4000 and 5000. Averages well over 50. You can question his ability in chases and his mettle in world cups, but to call him ordinary is just weak.

He has already covered his back by not counting WC games if it came when batting first. Not scoring when batting first doesn't matter even if it is a crucial WC match. So it's only about chasing and not about WC games ;)

Now , narrative will change if Amla doesn't score today. Suddenly, batting first will become hugely important because it was a crucial WC game.

We all know India's performance in the Test series, they are lucky they didn't play in Perth.

I understand criticizing a player for their shortcomings, but some people take it so far they start looking bitter and spiteful.

SA batting sensibly,no need to attack and lose wickets, when u have people like ABD to come...

It's a totally different problem here in PP. Many PPers like Amla due to non-cricketing reasons and then there are some who pick opposite side just due to that. Otherwise, I can't understand so much non-sense about Amla.

Amla might be a good player, I never said he wasn't but I hate the wat on this forum he is praised just cause he is a Muslim.

It has more to do with people being extra defensive about Amla.

I mean, how else can you explain a thread questioning Amla's ability to face pace and bounce to be deleted? The thread was all stats, and even the comments kept religion away.

I think people are justified to feel sick of these double standards, and some people mistake this as hatred for Amla.

Its like a mad cult where even B-Grade players e.g. Mr. Parnell enjoy its fruits, atleast Amla is a good player.

It's called supporting anyone with a Muslim name, or is a Muslim.

You just confirm what I was saying. Why can't you just ignore posters who praise due to religious angle? Problem solved. I don't like it either and I have pointed it out earlier but there is no point in going on and on about it.

If you simply ignore all that then it's not hard to see that Amla is one of top batsman in both formats. He does have issues while chasing and all of us know about it. About WC games, let's all SA game finish before judging him for WC pressure. He clearly didn't start well even though he was in great form before the WC, but let's not judge anyone based on 1-2 games.

Yep that's fair enough.

So should we apologise M. Nicholas?
I could counter argue the Windies got to enjoy their dominance as we were not playing in the 70's.
No way they would have dominated to that extent (if any) with the players we had in the 70's.
Its not easy not playing cricket for 20 odd years and still comeback a decent side never mind a good one.
Perhaps learn to give credit were its due.

People should watch this and realize it's hard to go all guns blazing in first 10-12 overs. So next time Pakistan start cautiously don't go all bonkers on them.

Half of the haters stating that Amla looking clueless on this pitch, the other half claiming he's a FTB.

laughable.

If thread comments was only about stats and not all religion crap( not only the OP but flow of discussion) then it shouldn't have been deleted. Anyway, let's drop this Amla discuss and enjoy this game.

Alma's bat speed is pretty incredible, it's faster than many sluggers.

He is also hold very loose bottom hand grip ( unusual in modern era), that's one of the reason he gets high bat speed.

I think most teams will be better served by keeping wickets in the first 10-15 overs.

Hopefully behardien is useful at 7

I was more impressed with Rossouw on how cleanly he strikes the ball. He can change gears without shuffling much either. He needs to stop playing/attempting the reverse sweep though he looks horrible doing so.

This is formula we will see for next six weeks. Today SA has switched gear from their last series.

Chasing or not formula for 300 is same in this World Cup. 300 is new 250, teams should be happy to restrict at that score. 340/350 is out of hand score.

Exactly, this is the same way Ind and WI batted against Pak and SA. However Windies made it up in the end, while India failed to do so..Still better strategy than being over aggressive..

SA playing intelligently...

That's the right approach unless you have Warner or McCullum in your team who can attack.

They will feel the heat once they fail couple of time or chasing big score. BM first test in tomorrow. If AUS bat first, I would like to see his approach.

OK, now we need to score 5-6 runs per over.

It probably was deleted not because of the thread, but the comments by usual suspects made it into a beard thread.

I am keeping a close watch on this thread.

Any nonsense about religion or beard, and I will hand out infractions.

first 10 overs 30-1

last 8 overs 46-0

Formula is 30-40 in first 10, then 100 in next 20 without loosing wickets. Another 70 in next 10, go for 100-120 in last 10.
New rules have really killed death bowling, they got to give bowlers chance, this is not good for game in long run.

It was a rubbish thread though.
With no base whatsoever.
For a start players who played significant innings in SA only averaged 4/5 higher than him (not even 10 innings) and Amla has played double the amount of games. Its like one guy coming to SA averaging 50 in 10 test innings and coming to the concussion he handles pace and bounce better than a guy who averaged 45 in double those innings. Form etc needs to be taken into account as well.
No-one averaged 50+, Smith averaged 39 which shows that 37 is hardly a struggle.
2ndly we are comparing his record with guys who get to play on "neutral" pitches rather than the ones prepared by SA curators.

Thanks. It gets tiresome to see all SA related threads turning into beard or religion.

87-1 in 20 overs

in first 10 overs they were not given freebies ..and after that they start rotating strike with odd boundaries in couple of overs they managed 57 runs without losing a wicket.

Cricket has been commercialized and unfortunately new suggestions given by England (India) of 40 overs ODI cricket..is another step towards commercialization.

Next 10 overs - 60-70 runs will do nicely.

Amla struggled against pace and bounce, and I backed my statement with good numbers. His record in Australia and against Aussie bowlers screams that fact. I put a lot of facts there, and I am in no mood to do that again.

I don't feel that deleting the thread was right at all. But it is Pakpassion, so who am I to complain. :sachin

just 5 fours in 23 Overs, with run rate of 4.21, shows the importance of rotation which our players doesn't understand or don't want

Playing with four bowlers is really bad Strategy in this WC. bits and pieces help 5+ RPO in middle overs with no wickets.

If your 5th bowler goes for 70 odd without bowling in power play or death, that's really bad.
