News from the toss is that New Zealand have won the toss and are going to be fielding first. If the results from the first ODI are anything to go by then a total of 270-280 is needed. South Africa chased down the 230 target pretty easily and now since they are batting first I'm sure they'll need a lot more than that.

New Zealand will be looking to tie the series 1-1 so they will not be taking this game lightly.

Q de Kock†, HM Amla, F du Plessis, RR Rossouw, AB de Villiers*, JP Duminy, DA Miller, VD Philander, DW Steyn, M Morkel, Imran Tahir

MJ Guptill, JDS Neesham, DG Brownlie, BB McCullum*, TWM Latham, CJ Anderson, L Ronchi†, DL Vettori, TG Southee, TA Boult, MJ McClenaghan

New Zealands bowling line up looks really good and we also have McClenaghan whose closing in on the 2nd fastest to 50 wickets!

Good to see Miller in there

With Ryan in the XI at 7 I feel like the batting isn't that strong and need someone like Miller coming at 7 if they are going to play Rossouw at 4/5

Outfield isn't as quick as the previous match.

Newzealand bowling lineup in second ODI

Mitchell McClenaghan
Tim Southee
Trent Boult
Daniel Vettori
Corey anderson
Jimmy Neesham

What a bowling lineup  Macca have dropped his brother :uakmal

Almost full strength there! I would have Matt Henry over McClenaghan to be honest..

Good shot by Amla. Let's put 300+

South Africa are by far the most settled team these days. I think they will win the World Cup.

Pretty sure they won't. They don't have the clutch players who can handle the pressures of a world cup.

Need to get AB quick or we'll be chasing 320+

We will be chasing 320+. Even if we get AB, they've got Roussow, Miller and Duminy to come. WASP already sitting at around 300, total usually ends up higher than WASP.

I don't think any team does. Maybe Australia. Right now it's either AU, NZ or SA winning the cup.

ABDV is an amazing player. Amla seems very rusty yet still is grinding out a score at around 80s/r

AB is the only one who can go for it straight away.

Every time I see McClenaghan bowl, it looks like he's going to get smashed. They've gotta get Matt Henry there ahead of him.

Maybe India, but I somehow don't see them winning it. I'll reserve judgements on them until after the tri series. They rely too heavily on Kohli and Dhoni outside of India.
Pitches will be flat. They'll go fine. In a crunch game their players know how to step it up. SA don't have that level.

Wicket looks good tbh

Hopefully someone from the top order will be able to set up the chase, but unlikely...

Out of form Guptill, Neesham and Brownlie...

This series should be Neeshams last chance, if he doesn't put a good innings together he should be dropped for Ryder or Latham.

Pitch doesn't look as slow as last time. One of the openers will have to fire.

Don't hold your breath.

Guptill is out of form and Neesham isn't good enough for ODI's.

Can't stress enough how big of a loss Williamson and Taylor have been.

If Ryder is out of WC contention, I'd rather have Latham open than Neesham.

Seriously, the NZ media is largely to blame for this whole mess.

Have a read of this tripe.

Jesse Ryder 'too busy' for Black Caps chance

Jesse Ryder has told New Zealand Cricket he is ''too busy'' to play in the North-South Twenty20 match but they are yet to discuss his potential involvement in the tour of United Arab Emirates.

The will-he-won't-he saga continues after Ryder smashed 136 off 57 balls to lead Otago to victory over Ireland yesterday, and national coach Mike Hesson said last week the lines of communication were finally open with Ryder.

An NZC spokeswoman said today Ryder made himself unavailable for the Island of Origin match next Friday because he was too busy amid the buildup to Plunket Shield and T20 seasons for Otago, having recently returned from a successful season for Essex.

But there had been no formal indication of Ryder's involvement in the New Zealand XI one-day side to tour the UAE during next month's test series. The door hasn't been shut on Ryder for that series.

South African commentator Kepler Wessels seemed bemused by the Ryder situation.

With the Black Caps battling the Proteas and suffering problems at the top of their innings in their defeat in the opening ODI, Ryder's absence was accentuated.

''He is clearly a very talented player and possibly New Zealand need him to win the World Cup,'' the former South African captain told Radio Sport today.

''But it depends how much he wants to play for his country.''

Wessels acknowledged Ryder's past struggles to fit into the New Zealand environment, saying brilliant individuals still had to buy into the team culture.

Guess NZ have been working on finding a replacement for KW's overs.

hussain.r97 hate to tell you so, but I told you so :yk

AB is the only player in the SA lineup who can go from ball 1.

Why aren't Kane and Taylor playing? And what's up with Ryder? NZ is gonna waste a top talent.

I think that's clear now. Why are Miller and Duminy so low in the order if they can't get going instantly?

SA should be disappointed if they only get 290.

They looked on course for much more.

Just bs.

He's busy preparing for Otagos FC and T20 season, the title made it sound more sinister than it really is.

Why the hell are they making an even bigger mess. Ryder just refused to play an exhibition

Boult seems to have problems at the death. Should be used up at start and in middle overs.

Surprise, McClenaghan 3 runs and 1 wicket off the over! Shabash! :wahab
SA in full choke mode here.

This isn't choking....

SA are hitting out and failing.

Can't expect teams to be on every game when finishing.
