What's new

Arsenal FC | 2024/25 Season

Absolutely. He never thinks out of the box. Always predictable with the changes.

Surely this has to be the end of him if You Gooners aspire to take the next step
Owners only care for making CL

Most of fan base will celebrate reaching semi final as progress

Nothing will change until fans demand change

The way it's going, it could very well be be Europa League next season

Arsenal will drop points at Anfield.

If Newcastle beat Chelsea.

Then Newcastle can turn up to Emirates knowing a win will take them above Arsenal

Man city in their supposed worse season after ages will finish above Arsenal

Nwaneri not being brought on when we were chasing game tonight was a disgrace.

This manager can't manage this entire squad

A new striker and left winger ain't going to fix the managers incompetence with squad management or in game management

Chelsea have to play Newcastle and forrest.

So the kronkes CL spot is safe as is Fraudetas job

Top 5 is secure but Arsenal wants to finish 2nd . Liverpool are preparing for next season, will give chances to players to show their worth. Draw is most likely imo .

Before the game started I had no expectations of Arsenal scoring after what I had seen last week.

Arsenal have a toothless front 4. Martinelli and Odegaard are so bad. This duo do not belong to a CL winning side.

Saka is the only threat Arsenal have in that front 4.

It’s beyond me how Odegaard played for 90 mins. Nwaneri should have started this game instead of him or at the very least come on after the hour mark for the struggling captain.

It’s blindingly obvious that Arteta is trying to protect him at all costs, when any other decent manager would have:

1. Come to the conclusion that’s he not fit to captain the said and be on the verge of stripping him off the armband

2. Put him on the bench because surely Nwaneri can’t do worse?

Seriously want to know what Arteta was smoking, his claims are laughable. He sounds desperate to me, maybe his job is on the line

Mikel Arteta says Arsenal were the best team in the Champions League this season, despite losing their semi-final to Paris St-Germain.

The Gunners came into the Parc des Princes needing to overturn a 1-0 loss from the home first leg to book a place in the final against Inter Milan.

But while Arsenal created a number of good opportunities, they could not find a way past PSG keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma until Bukayo Saka's late strike. By then, goals from Fabian Ruiz and Achraf Hakimi had put the French champions on their way to a 2-1 second-leg success, and 3-1 on aggregate.

"We were very close, much closer than the result showed, but unfortunately we are out," said Arteta.

"I am very proud of the players, 100% I don't think there's been a better team [than Arsenal] in the competition from what I have seen, but we are out.

"This competition is about the boxes and in both boxes are the strikers and the goalkeepers and theirs was the best in both games."

Having failed to reach a first Champions League final since 2006, the Arsenal boss revealed his players were in tears in the dressing room following the loss - and he was "upset and so annoyed" they did not find a way to turn around the tie.

Asked whether he agreed with Arteta, PSG boss Luis Enrique said his own side deserved to reach the final.

"Mikel Arteta is a great friend, but I don't agree at all," he added. "They played in a clever way and they got the match to the right moment for them because they played in the way they wanted, and the way they love. But in the two legs we scored more than them and that is the most important thing in football.

"Arsenal played a great match, and we suffered, but we deserved to get to the final. They are a great team, but I repeat, we scored more goals, we played in a great way in the first leg, and the second half of the second leg was a different match, and we could have scored even more goals."

The Gunners started superbly and, after Declan Rice headed wide from close range, Gabriel Martinelli and Martin Odegaard forced Donnarumma into fine saves.

Saka also forced the PSG keeper into another excellent stop in the second half and missed another clear chance at 2-1 down as Arsenal finished the match with an expected goal ratio of 3.14.

"When you analyse both games, who has been the best player? The MVP has been the same player, the goalkeeper." added Arteta.

"And the Champions League is decided in the boxes and it's won the game for them because obviously after 20 minutes, and what happened in London as well, the result should have been very different.

"So I can take a lot of positives and I'm very proud of the team. We have to arrive in the competition at this stage with the full squad, full available, in the best condition. We haven't got that, so let's put that aside.

"Still, the team that I've seen today is probably one of the best, if not the best team in Europe.

"It gives me so much pride, but at the same time I'm so upset, so annoyed that we didn't manage to do it. I see how much they wanted it, because they were in tears. It hurts, but you have to deal with that."

The defeat meant Arsenal will end the season without winning a trophy for the fifth season in a row, after Arteta led them to an FA Cup triumph in 2020 during his first season in charge.

They have also finished second in the Premier League for the last two seasons and the Spaniard was asked whether his players will struggle to get motivated to try again after another disappointment.

"With fear you cannot play football at the highest level. We had the best example in the [PSG] dressing room - Marquinhos, 11 times he's tried in this club to be a winner, 11 times he's the captain," said Arteta.

"So that's the truth and let's see if they win it. So 11 times they have to go down and up.

"So look in the mirror at somebody like this with that trajectory and you want to be in the sport and you want to be competing and be very close to all the trophies. You better be able to deal with that."

Typical weak excuses from Arteta. The best team lost 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ according to him.

Their will still be clueless losers in fan base still backing him

Winning trophies has element of luck and timing. Another gem from the mikel fraudeta

Trust your process guys

This is going to be an interesting summer transfer window.

It's clear we need players in various positions, and not just back ups, but top top players.
Keeping my personal feelings aside, I can't see Arteta getting the chop so unless we have a brilliant summer window, there will be discontent amongst the supporters; the Arteta supporters will align themselves with the dissenters.

Arsenal will spend big but must get the right players, world class players. 3/4 should do it to win something next season, along with arteta learning from his mistakes.

World class incompetent manager, with world class delusion

Yeah, we actually need a top striker but for this we will have to sell Jesus first.
We also need a creative midfielder so that Odegaard is the back up and not the first name on the team sheet as well as an upgrade on Martinelli.
Gabriel or Rice need to be made captain.

Another worrying thing is that we may lose Saliba in the summer and that will be a big position to fill (if it happens).

- Jesus is out until end of year, so January will be earliest he will be sold. Even then no one will want a player on 250K who can't stay fit.

- Arsenal wanted sesko in summer, as they wanted a back up to havertz. So if a new main striker comes in it means havertz and Merino back into midfield where they are both useless. With havertz being on 270K and more like having a clause in his contract about amount of games he Will play. Arsenal are going to have to fit this guy into the team.

The whole attack and midfield needs a revamp.

Then you have a defence where Tierney, Zinchenko, kiwor and tomiyassu will be let go.

You are then left with 6 defenders, 3 of which are injury prone in white, timber and calafori.

That's a momentual mess and now Berta is tasked with fixing it pretty much in one window, with unambitious owners and a clueless manager

All the top 7 teams made it to some kind of a Final, be it at home or abroad, but Arsenal missed out. Poor stuff, really.

Arsenal haven't reached a final in any of the last 5 seasons, its embarrassing.

Yes it has to be a monumental summer transfer window. Anything less will be a failure

For any wanting to know how embarrassing this club really is, look at the merchandise release after we got knocked out of the CL. Releasing shirts that had been made for final in Munich. This is how stupid and thoughtless this club is.

But most of lemmings and sheep will keep blindly backing the owners and how this club is run.

Yes it has to be a monumental summer transfer window. Anything less will be a failure
A lot of rumours going round that if a big offer comes in then saliba or Gabriel be gone

Won't surprise me either, as they will use this money for transfers

If anyone things the kronkes are going to Authorise the club to spend "club generated money" on a big transfers, without balancing books on the self sustaining model, then your only kidding urselfs once again.

Yes it has to be a monumental summer transfer window. Anything less will be a failure
The mess of the last 3 transfer windows.

Plus the poor signings of havertz, calafori and Merino

The amount of work needed this team needs summer simply won't happen

Firstly saka, Gabriel, saliba, Martinelli have 2 years left on contracts, which will need to be renewed. Otherwise you end up with key players running contracts down

Then we need a back up keeper, CB, DM, number 8, number 10, striker and winger

As you said these need to be world class or elite signings which won't come cheap.

Plus kronkes want a self sustaining model, which means balancing the books.

So don't be shocked if Martinelli and saliba or Gabriel are sold if big offers come In.

If villa don't sign rashford and watkins leaves. Won't be shocked if Villa look to sign Martinelli from Arsenal

Real will probably look to go after Gabriel and saliba

Reality of the up and coming summer I'd that if Chelsea and Newcastle make CL spots. They will spend to improve.

If Man city aren't banned for 115 charges they will spend heavily, they already splashed 200M in January

Liverpool as champions will look to spend.

With number of holes in Arsenal squad and the surgery needed, it's not just 1 team Arsenal need to be worried about in Liverpool. All the teams around them will look to get better as well.

The dogs dinner they created over last few transfers window will fully be exposed even more in next 12 months. As other teams weren't going to stay In the mud, or not improve.

Arsenal arrogance from its ownership thinking that they were now going to be city's main rivals for a long time will get a slap of reality as the PL at the top and in general will get more competitive and even harder to win PL

Arsenal have gone backwards in the league - Arteta

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta says that his team have "gone a step backwards" in the Premier League this season.

After missing out on the title to Manchester City by two points last season, the Gunners are currently 15 points behind champions Liverpool, who they face at Anfield on Sunday (16:30 BST).

Having reached 84 points in 2022-23 and 89 points in 2023-24, Arsenal will end this campaign with a maximum of 76 points.

"In the Premier League we've gone a step backwards," Arteta said.

"With the points that we have created it is clear that we have not done as good as last season, and that's obvious.

"But with the amount of points that we have generated in the last few seasons, we could have won two Premier League titles. So you know how close we are. We are providing the numbers that win you titles."

Arteta's side will also finish trophyless for a fifth straight year following their Champions League semi-final defeat by Paris St-Germain on Wednesday.

Looks like the Zubimendi deal is pretty much done

Whilst it might not be the absolute priority position for Arsenal it's a very good signing

60m is a big fee, decent player but arsenal have a lot of cover in the middle. Must have enough in the kitty for a big striker singing and a couple of other players too ..

Typical Arsenal PR, get all paid journalists to release transfer news to divert attention from another failed season.

If releasing merchandise in error, that had been specially made for CL final. Wasn't bad enough.

I'm sure the lemmings and sheep in fan base will be lapping it up as usual.

Arsenal entire midfield and attack needs a rebuild.

Jorginho is leaving, partey likely to go as well. Your then left with Rice (good quality) and 3 dog turds in havertz, Merino and Odegaard who are not good enough to play in midfield

Arsenal were very unlucky vs Paris. They were done by their GK otherwise Arsenal would have won both legs and beaten them just like they beat them earlier this season.

Arsenal have shown this season that they have the mentality to compete with the best teams in Europe.

As far as the league form is concerned, it is disappointing but Arsenal were very unlucky with injuries and Edu failed in the summer window.

As I said previously, I will evaluate Arteta’s at the end of next season. I am excited to see what Berta does in the summer and as per the rumor mill, Zubimendi is a done deal after he rejected Liverpool last summer and the fact that Arsenal are signing him ahead of Madrid is very impressive. In addition, Arsenal are about to submit an official bid for Gyokeres as well.

If Arsenal are able to secure its main targets this summer, which includes replacing Martinelli, they will be in pole position to win the Premier League next season.

🤣🤣 oh looks like the Arteta chef cheerleader has been found after going into hiding in January, the search is over

But but Arsenal will win 2 out of next 3,4,5 titles.. 🤣🤣

Another season and another failure and new excuses. What this season has done again I'd expose the clueless zero ball knowledge of those that continue to back this failure of a manager

Mikel Arteta admits his Arsenal squad was too small to challenge Liverpool for the Premier League title 😯:

🗣️ “There are a lot of factors. We knew from the beginning of the season that our squad was super short. Being super short, we had some players that had a high probability of getting injured, because that’s what they had in the last few seasons. So we knew that, and we cannot do anything about it.

“Over the season, there are many things you need to go your way. In the clinical moments, does the ball hit the post and come out, or go in? That's the fine margins.

“What we have to try to do is to amplify the margins. The bigger the margins are, even if those things happen, then it will be very difficult for the opposition. We have to do it our way. We have to be authentic with ourselves and what we believe, what we can do, and what we've been doing. That's it.”

--‐‐-‐--------

So know this fraud of a manager is saying his squad wasn't big enough. He's an idea, how about stop wasting money on back up keeper, left backs and trash midfielders

The small squad didn't stop him signing a new 15M a year contract. He knows at a proper big club with standards he would have been sacked ages ago.

This season has been another humiliation for atleast 4 Arteta fan boys in this thread, most of whom still are delusional enough to think this guys going to get team over line.

Welcome back. Hope all is well with you.

Look at the Arteta fan boys are back together now, after all taking it in turns to run off and hide during different parts of the season.

But don't worry guys.. always next season..

According to Arteta the squad he has wasn't big enough. Also he had injury prone players he couldn't defend on. The incompetence of this manager and poorly constructed squad is there for all to see.

So a certain poster wanted to make fun of ole whilst at united, saying when they finished 2 in PL to City and weren't In a title race.

The same person now making excuses for Arteta, when Arsenal weren't in a title race this season. Same person who said if the team regressed In the league it would be failure.

Always good to expose the hypocrisy and lies.

It seems you agree with Arteta , arsenal were the better team , its better to accept defeat gracefully.

Big game for arsenal today , securing 2nd is important as 3/4th means a decline on last season.

Liverpool will be in 2nd gear so a good opportunity for arsenal . A win today and arteta will say the best team in pl too .

Enjoy the match and dont forget the guard of honour :wenger

Arteta and his fan boys (mamoon, topspin, immy69....) will continue with his arrogance and lame excuses.

- Supposedly Arsenal were best team statistically in CL
- Liverpool are lucky and in right place at right time this season
- Arsenal only lost to PSG because of Donurumma. (Lets ignore all the chances PSG missed in both games)
- Liverpool have been lucky with injuries
- Arsenal have had injuries - even though Arteta has now admitted the club took a risk depending on players likely to get injured

Sadly these losers will come up with more excuses next season.

"Progress" in CL is the ray of hope, lets ignore the failed domestic season

Oh and Liverpool, Man city, Newcastle aren't going to strength next season. So As long as Arsenal get a striker they are going to walk the league. According to delusionalist online in this fan base

Tbf a lot of fans aren't happy with his statements after losses all season . Acc to arteta arsenal were unlucky or the better team in every match. I think this puts unnecessary pressure on players, he should instead take all the blame on himself to relieve their pressure.

The psg match first leg Rice was shouting keep the ball or die , along those lines. Is this coming from the manager as it's a strange thing to say ?

The team is over coached, the manager wants everything choreographed when they play. All done on probability and stats. It's boring, defensive, must not lose football. Your not going to win a league doing that. Reminds me when benetiz was Liverpool manager and played in league in same way.

Arteta is trying to win the league like Mourinho did, where you don't conceded many goals and you get goals from everywhere in team. Arsenal don't have the quality in attack to do that, nor do they have the volume of goals from midfield like a lampard type player.

Arsenal can improve, but so will Liverpool, City and Newcastle. So it's not 1 team that Arsenal will have to worry about next season.

Arsenal poor midfield getting exposed again today, Odegaard and Merino are nowhere near the level needed to win a title or trophies.

Reality is niether of these garbage players will be changed next season.

Pretty dominant half from liverpool. 0 shots on goal by arsenal and looking tired. If liverpool keep their foot on the gas or speed up, a few more goals for the taking here

Arsenal 2018/19 - finished 5th with 70 points

750M spent and 5 seaaons later Arsenal could be heading into last 2 games of season with 67 points.

Arteta took over a mess look where's he taken us his, that's the nonsense this fan base has spewed for last 5 seasons ...

looks like full circle, yet people think Arsenal are not far off winning stuff 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

When Newcastle win at Emirates next week, let's see the reaction

I don’t remember the last time Liverpool beat Arsenal in the league. It’s such an easy fixture for Arsenal and Arteta regardless of the form and morale of the team.

It will be the same story next season.

Lol it's a dead rubber . Good comeback but lfc had nothing to play .

Arsenal qualify for CL, congratulations.

If its the same story next season , 2nd again.

March 17, 2022. The last time Liverpool beat Arsenal in the league. That’s a long time ago, how embarrassing. Can’t hide behind the dead rubber excuse because there have been plenty of key matches in between.

Klopp was not good enough to beat Arteta once he build together a strong side and looks like Slot is clueless as well after escaping a lucky draw at the Emirates earlier in the season thanks to the injury to Gabriel.

Do you think Liverpool will finally beat Arsenal next season after 4 years?

It's a few seasons, its been over 15 years you last beat us at Anfield. Onus on arsenal to win , you're now fighting for 3rd place, why lfc can still win the league by a record margin . The teams aren't close , dead rubbers mean little.

Arteta has won 1 fa cup and acc to him 2 charity shields in nearly 6 years. Liverpool have been picking up silverware regularly inc the biggest prize.

This mentality is on par with indian media, accept the failure of your manager to once again bring zero trophies. It's been a failure this season and your excited about a draw when its over lol .

Prediction for next season? In the ba..?

You know things are desperate when you have certain posters celebrating draws at Anfield. Arsenal have drawn last 3 games here, supposedly its an easy fixture now.

Clutching at straws at best.

Another trophyless season..

But these 🤡 will be at the

"We drew at eithad and anfield parade"

Not in a title race. But it's only these 🤡 will console themselves with usual irrelevant rubbish

Looks like the Zubimendi deal is pretty much done

Whilst it might not be the absolute priority position for Arsenal it's a very good signing
He is a class act.
Pairing him with Rice at the base of the midfield is an excellent pairing.

Saka needs some support up top though- minimum of 2 signings needed further to the pitch with 1 being a striker

Celebrating draws at Anfield, when the so called worlds best young manager has done 5th trophyless season in a row. Also wasn't even in a title race.

This is best you can come up with, after running away with your tail between your legs in January 🤦‍♂️

If Arsenal sign Gyokeres they will walk the league next season. He is better than Haaland. Same ability in front of goal and much better on the ball.

The guy who rejected Liverpool is a quality signing indeed. He is one of the best in his position and Madrid wanted him to replace Modric so well done to Berta for getting it done early. However, it is very important that Partey stays as well.

Jorginho out and Zubimendi in is perfect for Arsenal as long as there are no other departures. Jorginho has done his part but it is time to bring young players.

Different leagues but hes a proper striker . If Utd win the Europa, he may go there . There are other strikers too .

In a high-stakes battle between Premier League champions Liverpool and second-placed Arsenal, fans were treated to a high intensity game. Liverpool began like champions, dominating the first half with sharp passing and relentless pressure. Their dominance paid off with two well-deserved goals before halftime.

In the second half, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta made key tactical changes that reignited his team’s performance. The Gunners came out fighting, scoring twice to bring the game level and swinging the momentum their way.

The match’s intensity escalated in the 79th minute when Arsenal’s Mikel Merino was shown a second yellow card (red card), reducing his team to ten men. Despite the disadvantage, Arsenal held on, while both teams created tense chances in the final minutes that could have sealed victory for either side. One particularly crucial moment saw Liverpool denied a potential winner due to a foul in the build-up.

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s late substitution also drew attention, as he was met with boos from the Liverpool fans—perhaps signaling unease over his rumored move to Real Madrid.

In the end, the match concluded in a dramatic 2-2 draw, a fitting result for two giants of the league in a clash full of quality, emotion, and controversy.

United is a basket case, he wouldn’t go to a team that’s a total mess. He should back himself to get Arsenal over the line and be the difference maker.

Why don’t Liverpool go for him to replace the retarded Nunez?

🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ so an Arsenal team which hasn't even been in title race, hasn't won a trophy for 5 season, not won title for 20+ years. Is now going to walk the league ahead of Liverpool, man city, Newcastle next season... delusion at its finest

Newcastle 🤣

Looks like Newcastle is the new father of some so-called Arsenal fans who want their own team to fail so that they can score points over the internet.

Newcastle haven’t got the chops to fight for the league. Their target for next season will be the same as this season - make the top 4, that’s it.

Strikers and quality wingers are gold dust. You have to be sure they can score in pl and stay fit. Imo Cody G should be no 9 , Diaz on the wing .

Arsenal need one , your club did nothing in jan , hence the amount of draws . Whatever he does the pressure on the manager to deliver a major trophy is huge now.

You state you'll judge him at the end of the season. Specify ? If Arteta fails to win any trophies next season, he should be fired?

Strikers and quality wingers are gold dust. You have to be sure they can score in pl and stay fit. Imo Cody G should be no 9 , Diaz on the wing .

I said his position should be reviewed, I didn’t say he should be fired. Not everything is black and white, you have to take all factors into consideration because there is always next season.

If he gets the players he is looking for this summer then yes the expectation will be to win the league. This team has no weakness except a goal machine up front, that’s why I think Gyokeres will take Arsenal to a new level.

🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ so an Arsenal team which hasn't even been in title race, hasn't won a trophy for 5 season, not won title for 20+ years. Is now going to walk the league ahead of Liverpool, man city, Newcastle next season... delusion at its finest

Newcastle up next. 2nd place up for grabs. Mammon says it's a nothing team @Geordie Ahmed , are you ready to fight for 2nd next week?

Its simple maths, 0 trophies in his tenure over 5/6 years spending plenty. Arsenal is one the biggest clubs . Get someone who can win something

I didn’t say that. What I said what Thad Newcastle are mentally not ready to get into a title race. They will not fight for the league next season and their target will remain top 4.

Eddie Howe will never get sacked for not winning the league, but he can be in trouble if Newcastle don’t make the top 4.

Looks like Newcastle is the new father of some so-called Arsenal fans who want their own team to fail so that they can score points over the internet.

Exactly this and then he wonders why his support for the club is called into question.

No disrespect to Newcastle, who have a chance of finishing above Arsenal this season but to think they will do accomplish this next season is either brain dead footballing logic or a case or wanting your team to fail to score points on a cricket forum.

Trophies aren’t everything. United or Spurs will win a trophy this season and a European one for that matter, but no sane Arsenal fan would swap places with them.

He will be seething if Arsenal win the league with Arteta, and you can bet he will try to find a way to take credit away from him and come up with some excuse. Such people don’t deserve to be called fans. They are worse than haters.

If Arsenal sign Gyokeres they will walk the league next season. He is better than Haaland. Same ability in front of goal and much better on the ball.

Who would be your first choice left winger? I would like to see us go for Rodrygo. Rumours are he's not happy about being being behind Vini Jr, Mbappe and Bellingham in the pecking order and Madrid want to put him up for sale as well.

Such a strange flex considering they've walked the league

Zubimendi, Gyokeres and Nico Williams are Berta’s three main targets this summer. The first one is locked, let’s see what happens with the other two, but as per reports, Arsenal is in pole position for Gyokeres because the other clubs who can afford him are not looking for a striker this summer.

Signing all three would be amazing and will undoubtedly help Arsenal go up a level.

Agree to disagree , trophies are everything for big clubs .

They've done poorly in the league but one of them will have a big trophy and CL spot, more than arsenal. Newcastle and City both could have trophies and top 4 .

You want to review it if no trophies next season, it's fine if you're happy being up there and competing

Rodrygo. He is a clutch player and will have a point to prove to Madrid that he is capable of being the main man.

If not him then Nico Williams. It’s sad that Arsenal missed out on Kvara, he would have been amazing on the left.

Anyway, I’m glad that Martinelli is on the exit list, but one summer too late. He has reached his ceiling and he is not good enough for a team that is aiming to win the league and at his age, he wouldn’t want to be a backup when he can start for a lot of clubs who are at a lower level than Arsenal.

Eze is another one who should be on the radar too. He is too good for Crystal Palace.

He did this earlier in the season when I made a post about how Arsenal had improved in Europe following their win against Sporting. Before this game he said:

if Arsenal get anything from tonight's game it will be a shock

After thrashing Sporting 5-1. This was his excuse:

Sporting are not a European giant and a very open attacking team. Huge difference when you playing Porto, Bayern, inter etc. Who can actually defend and hurt you at other end.

I can't believe Arsenal didn't pursue it. He was available for just under £60m. Absolute steal.

You called it from the beginning, most notably during that game at Anfield during the 22/23 season. As you rightly said, Martinelli never had the footballing IQ to succeed at Arsenal.

He is just another Walcott, always making bad decisions in the final third.

Since 2023-24, he has made 93 appearances across competitions and scored 18 goals and made 14 assists. That is simply terrible for a starting LW.

Arsenal need a LW who can hit such numbers every season.
