What's new

Arsenal FC | 2025/26 Season

Yep!

Play a double pivot with zubimendi- issue is odegaard is not good enough (against the top teams) to shoulder the creative portion.

Odegaard been injured majority of the games. Zubimendi is a Quality all-round CM. The rest are limited in Technical ability and lack the Craft IQ to dominate their Peers.

City have similar issues in CM when compared to a peak midfield of Debryune Rodri Gundogan of few years ago. It's the key area of any team.

It is funny you say that, when he is the only player in this meek squad who has won stuff and knows what it takes. He is a UCL winner and scored in the final, something bottlejob fairies like Rice, Saka, Saliba etc. will never experience.

Please revisit this - Zubi + Raya +Merino have Euros medals. Timber has a couple of Medals from his dutch days. Rice has a European Trophy. Jesus has PL's. Eze has a FA Cup and scored in the final i believe. Gyokores has League titles. These are ones I can think of on the top of my head. Madueke to...

So please revisit this and clarify what you mean - I guess it'll be " those are not real trophies". You did say meek squad so I am including everyone.

Maybe take your love affair for Havertz and his new muscles out of this.

Delusional nonsense. The reality is the we don’t.

It’s easy to blame the coach, but who will hold the players accountable, especially the overhyped nucleus that have been together for years and have won F all.

If Arteta dies on this hill, so be it, but let’s not kid ourselves that another manager will come and get these fairies over the line.

It is clear that these players don’t have the onions, and they have let down the coach for three years in a row.

It is clear that these players have reached their ceiling. It is time to dismantle this nucleus and do a reset in the summer, building a new nucleus around Gyokeres, Eze, Zubimendi etc.

Make your mind up.

Last season you threw in the towel in October, now this season you stated its in the bag again but again are throwing in the towel in Sept? What happened to Arsenal will win the league this season? Or will be 6-0 against Arteta too?

-arteta went overboard with the celebration
-Arsenal has the best defensive record every year in the league. That’s not happening without Saliba and Gabriel being absolute beasts. They should be the last ones to be criticised.
-too early in the season, I am expecting a Liv dip soon, I will see where we are at halfway through the season to even entertain title predictions or ‘league is gone’ statements

Don't worry their are plenty spare towels on side line at Emirates, so when your ready later in season you can throw towel in, like your mentor in Peshawar

I like this manager and I like this squad. Can’t wait to see the creativity flow when gyo, saka, eze, odegaard find their rhythm together. It will be beautiful football once again.

I agree with what you have said about setting up defensively vs Liv and City when we probably didn’t need to. My excuse is: saka and Odegaard are the two creative powerhouses from previous seasons, they have been completely or partially unavailable. Depth is great but new guys will always need time to adjust. Haven’t you been noticing the different type of goals we’ve been scoring compared to last season. Plus I know Liv will have some dip, there are too many kinks in their armour.

There will never be any fluidity in Arsenal’s possession play until the £100m 🫏 is not removed from the team. He is the biggest problem in the midfield.

Arsenal should have gone out of their way and made a bid for a

Been hearing about this Liverpool dip since Klopp announced he is leaving 😀

Doesn't matter what kinks Liverpool have, they have similar kinks last season. Arsenal were unable to take advantage, this season will be no different

I think somebody noticed Rice doing the team talk so is worried the captains place is in jeapordy. Only explanation I think of for going after last seasons player of the season. Who made the team of the season. While captain saab was busy doing the night feeds

I don't know what I've just read over the last 24 hours. I can't tell if Mamoon is trolling us or if he's having a meltdown.

Usual melt down, last season in August he told everyone it would be Arsenal vs City title race. Then in October he threw towel in.

Reality this season has slapped him earlier, the fact he's blaming everyone apart from his love interests Odegaard, havertz and Arteta. Towel has come in again.

He's the posting equivalent of Daniel Dubois, when going gets tough. The weak get on their knees and don't make the 10 count

He will figuratively speaking die on this post

Eze, dowman, Nwaneri aren't being used in the 10 when Odegaard is injured. Because manager doesn't want to apply pressure to his hand puppet when he returns.

Rice or Gabriel (best choice) should be captain

So Gyokeres wins Gerd muller trophy.

I'm sure Arteta will continue to ruin Gyokeres as a player with negative team selections with no creativity

He managed to convert a prime Aubamayeng into a left wing back..

Same will happen with Gyokeres

I am not trolling and neither am I having a meltdown. I am tired of the players who keep letting the manager down season after season.

It is about time we hold the players accountable too, and we have to start with Rice, the most overrated midfielder in the world with no technical level.

There is nothing in his game that suggests that he is worth £100m and Arsenal’s midfield problems start with him. He is bang average on the ball and his defensive work rate has deteriorated.

When he first joined Arsenal, he was fighting for every ball and flying in with his tackles, now he has deluded himself into thinking that he is an all action, box to box midfielder, which is funny because you will find midfielders with better technical in the Spanish second division.

Rice, Saka, Saliba, Gabriel — all these golden boys who never get any sort of criticism from the fans are overrated in reality and Rice is the most overrated of them all.

Toxic fan......!

Should be backing Arsenal
Toxic is a small word for the venom that I’m going to spit against these underperforming, overrated players who have escaped accountability for far too long under the pretext that it’s the manager’s fault.

The players are also responsible for their own actions. It wasn’t Arteta who told them not to track Haaland when he made that run and it wasn’t him who told Saliba who defend that chance like a schoolboy.

These players have let the manager down on multiple occasions over the past three seasons.

My brother - I think you need to learn the trend of this thread otherwise you may find yourself labelled.

@IMMY69 very kindly warned me in my early days posting. I think he said to me " you must be new here " after I put across a few views and was sorta ambushed lol.

Anyway keep posting but just don't mention the word standards, Or measure success by points gained or being a runner up being some sort of achievement... it wont go down well......

Been around here for far too long my friend 😜

It’s called a season for a reason. Cmon it just started and good or bad (mostly bad) you guys have already come to conclusions.

We have an excellent squad I think everybody can agree on that. I am excited to see what lies ahead for them. Just imagine eze and odegaard combining to feed gyo. Give it a chance it’ll be a lot of fun ;)

But but the players have let down the retard manager...

But but it's saka and rice's fault..

But but the players arent ollowing the instructions to play like Stoke City...

🤡🤡🤡

The Melt down is hilarious 😂

Its borderline embarrassing to put it on the players when there has been one constant throughout this period and the one who sets the team up to play like they do. Doesn't like flair players etc etc etc. But you are not allowed to criticize him.

I am completely at peace with it now. Come end of the season I believe we will be champions and if we are not then I will be excited to see these players with a less pragmatic manager.

I am telling you sir, unless Eze can create some spark and develop a partnership with Gyokeres, it is all over.

I will throw Madueke into the mix too, but unfortunately he is out for 2-3 months now, such is Arsenal’s luck.

Now we are back to Saka’s dead *** wing play where he will either cut in unsuccessfully or pass back to Timber, because he is petrified of taking his marker on.

Saka, Rice, Saliba, Gabriel, Martinelli. These blokes will never win anything for Arsenal. They don’t have the onions. It’s just a fake core.

I haven’t thrown Odegaard into the mix yet because I want to see him partner Gyokeres. Over the last few seasons, he hasn’t played with a striker who makes runs behind the defenders. Havertz is good, but he is a different profile and it’s difficult for a playmaker to have chemistry with a striker like Havertz.

Odegaard has really good chemistry with Haaland for Norway and there is no reason why he can’t replicate that with Gyokeres, so I will give him this season. If he fails, then I will write him off like the fake core above.

Gyokeres, Odegaard, Eze and Zubimendi - the fate of this season lies on their shoulders. Arsenal have had a very tough set of fixtures so the 5 points gap can still be recovered, but the responsibility lies on their shoulders now.

If they fail, it will be another damp squib because the other players don’t have the onions.

Arsenal should sell Saliba to Real next summer. Real love signing overhyped players. Mosquera is better than Saliba. Hopefully he won’t hide against top strikers.

Yes, a less pragmatic manager will turn the £100m donkey into Pedri.

Managers philosophy, tactics, decision making in big moments rubs off on to the Players. Arteta has instilled negativity in to Majority of the squad.

Only way they will come out of this slumber is for Arteta to be replaced.

Oh dear mosquera is better than Saliba 🤣🤭

Same mosquera who looked average at best in La liga and fir Spain under 21s.

But a few good PL games and now he's a legend according to Peshawar branch of Arteta fan club 🤡

I think you are talking about two different issues. One is the attacking threat where we have been starting with less creative players and the template to get gyo involved is still getting fine tuned. Haaland is a more complete striker and more confident than Gyo but city took time to adjust their play around Haaland as well. Eze has shown that he’s ready to take more control of the creative work too and I can see Gyo eventually being unlocked. Madueke’s injury is an untimely blow cuz he was most comfortable taking on defenders. So overall some uncertainty around the attack, agreed.

The second criticism that relates to Saliba and Gabriel is less justified. They looked out of position or over committed for that one goal, that’s it. They don’t have a long list of crimes/mistakes. Arsenal is a top team because we have these two.

Love hearing out ‘well-wishing’ utd fans. Slumber means three title fights in a row, or top talent rejecting rival clubs to join Arsenal, or the best defensive record in the league? Arteta is not perfect but this is no slumber.

🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ as **** as united are, please stop celebrating failed title races like its some sort of medal of honour. No one cares about a title race unless you win it.

Ok I am not going to reply now. Don't have time for trolls as its obvious now

When I first joined PP, I was under the impression he was a Man Utd fan.

I've always had a slight suspicion that he's here to troll Arsenal fans but there wasn't enough to confirm this. But I think I've read enough to know that he's more interested in being a contrarian than supporting the club.

Everyone else sees it differently. These players are top 5 in the world in their respective positions and yes that includes Rice as a number 8.

Why are you doing these u-turns again?

Declan Rice is insane.

Best signing of the Emirates era by a country mile.

Thank you Arteta and Edu.

Rice will be a proper Arsenal legend and win several trophies at the club. There is no doubt that he will also captain at some point, but he doesn’t need the armband to be a leader.

Arsenal have lacked a proper English talisman since Adams. When United, Chelsea and Liverpool had Neville, Ferdinand, Terry, Lampard, Gerrard etc., Arsenal had no counterparts.

Arsenal fans are going to love him to pieces. They will never forget that he rejected Man City. Unlike other English players like Grealish, Sterling, Walker, Stones, Phillips etc. who took the easy route to success by joining the richest club in the country.

What is the challenge in joining the treble-winning side that could multiple trophies again next season?

No one will look at Rice and view him as the difference maker; he will just be another disposable player for City.

He goes to Arsenal now and helps the team win the league, he will be remembered as the point of difference. He will be seen as the one who turned things around for Arsenal.

Rice was destined to be an Arsenal legend. The fact that he slipped through Chelsea’s fingers and snubbed City only makes it sweeter.

In my opinion, this is the most important signing of the Emirates era. The best English midfielder entering the peak years of his career with exceptional leadership qualities.

Ozil was a massive signing in 2013 and was playing at an elite level for the biggest club in the world. Signing a player of his stature was unthinkable at the time, but he didn’t have the mental profile to spur Arsenal to greater heights.

The rival fans are crying now, but Arsenal beating City to his signature is great news for English football. It shows that not every English player will take the easy route and bend over backwards to the richest club in the country.

I can name 10 midfielders in the world are who are better than Rice so not sure where this top 5 delusion comes from.

You know your football so I am surprised that you cannot see that Rice has no technical level, and a midfielder with such a low technical level cannot be top 5 in the world.

He might be a top 10 DM in the world but there is no room for him anymore in the starting XI after arrival of Zubi.

As far as Saliba-Gabriel are concerned, they are a brick wall unless they face a top striker and they are found wanting. They always struggle vs Haaland and Isak, the two best strikers in the PL excluding their own teammate VG14.

Rice is bang average on the ball. His passing range is very limited, he cannot hold onto the ball under pressure, he doesn’t have a good shot on him, he doesn’t have a great touch, he cannot dribble.

He is just a stereotypical English “pashun merchant” who think running around the pitch like a donkey makes you good.

He doesn’t start for Liverpool and City as well as Barcelona, Real, PSG and Bayern, so this whole top 5 midfielder narrative is overblown.

If he is actually a top 5 midfielder in the world then this must be the worst era in football history when it comes to quality of midfielders, but that is not the case because there is a lot of midfield talent around these days.

Those two free kicks vs Real was a big fluke. Since that day, he has tried to act like Beckham and things he is entitled to take every FK but he hasn’t hit the target even once since.

He needs to be relieved of FK duties - Gyok, Eze and Odegaard should be the designated FK takers.

In no particular order, the following midfielders are better than Rice:

Barcelona:

Pedri, De Jong, Gavi, Fermin

Real:

Valverde, Bellingham (massively overrated but still better than Rice), Guler.

PSG:

Vitinha, Ruiz, Neves

Bayern:

Musiala, Kimmich

Liverpool:

Gravenberch, DS, Mac, Wirtz (massively overrated but still better)

City:

Bernardo, Rodri, Foden, Reijnders

United:

Bruno

Arsenal:

Zubimendi, Odegaard, Eze

I just named 24 better midfielders than Rice and I am sure I have missed at least 5 more because that are just off the top of my head, so please don’t give me this 🧢 that he is top 5. Top 5 my backside.

When I say midfielder, I am combining CAM, CM and DM, because Rice is all over the pitch like a rash these days and offers F all.

As I said previously, if we compare him to DMs only which is this donkey’s natural position, he is probably top 10, but he still doesn’t merit a place in the Arsenal starting XI anymore.

I Agree. He's a good player in the CDM position. But he's definitely no baller. There's alot of outstanding CM's out there who are way advanced

He wouldn’t be worth 50m if he wasn’t English. A lazy and short-sighted signing by the club in the same window where Liverpool signed Gravenberch for £70m less.

So the excuses are out already...

Let's surmise:
If/when Arteta is sacked it will be because of the players and the fans that wanted Arsenal to win trophies 🙈

Generally if I am to see someone criticising Gabriel and Saliba, I’d think this person has no idea about football. For all of Arsenal’s shortcomings, a weak cb partnership is not a problem for the best defence in the league.

Mamoon obviously has a good understanding of the game so I feel like this unwarranted criticism is possibly just for trolling purposes.

Rice and Saka have not been near their best so that frustration still can make sense..

I want the best CB pairing in the league to be more resolute against the best strikers in the league. They have been rabbits caught in headlights vs Haaland and Isak, and Salah usually scores all the time too.

It is a pipe dream but I would offer Rice to Newcastle in exchange for Tonali.

Tonali is a different level to Rice, and he is Isak 2.0 waiting to happen at Newcastle. There is no way he spends his prime there, and he immediately elevates Arsenal’s midfield.

It is not about throwing the players under the bus; it is about holding people accountable.

Blaming the coach is easy, but he is not the one on the pitch. The players at this level have to be capable of finding solutions too.

Arsenal lost the league by 2 points in 23/24 and they lost 2-0 to West Ham and Villa at home. Surely, the players have to cop some blame too.

Everyone knows that Rice is in the trenches. He has no ability on the ball, he adds nothing to the midfield and hasn’t for more than a year.

He is part of an underperforming engine, but apparently it’s a crime to single him out.

Are we going to have this dance again?

Last time you said this I raised Saliba as an example, you then went to town defending him and his ambition

Mere weeks later you are now chucking him under the bus

You elevated Rice and have now turned your back on him

If you ever got Tonali then how many months before you call him the new Aquilani?

As for Tonali, famous last words but we supported him during his ban, I'd be surprised if he behaved like an ungrateful scumbag

Arsenal fans and the wider universe have an exclusive here !

Mamoon has mutated into Mikel Arteta himself .

Mikman again the midfield was is right ? Sorry nobody questioned it midweek but they did against the f champions

Arsenal's Madueke out for six to eight weeks

Arsenal expect Noni Madueke to miss six to eight weeks with the knee injury sustained in the 1-1 draw with Manchester City on Sunday.

However, the 23-year-old England winger is not believed to have suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.

The summer signing from Chelsea was substituted at half-time of the Premier League match with City and has been having tests to discover the severity of the problem.

"It looks like Noni is going to be out for a few weeks, but we don't really know yet, we will have to scan him next week again," said Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta on Tuesday.

"He felt something at the beginning of the match and tried to carry on but it was too sore, so let's see."

Asked to confirm whether Madueke will be out for weeks rather than months, Arteta replied: "We hope so. Like I said, we need to scan him again to see the extent of the injury but it doesn't look too bad."

Arsenal face Port Vale in the third round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.

Earlier, sources indicated medics were waiting for the swelling to subside before making a definitive diagnosis on the injury, but it is understood that Madueke will be sidelined for a minimum of six weeks, though that timescale is thought to be the best-case scenario.

The news is a major blow to Arteta and England head coach Thomas Tuchel given Madueke's promising start to the season.

If the initial prognosis is confirmed, Madueke will not return to action until November at the earliest, ruling him out of a clutch of key domestic and European games for the Gunners.

The attacker is set to miss England's forthcoming games against Wales and Latvia, while also making him a doubt for World Cup qualifiers against Serbia and Albania in mid-November.

Arsenal face Sunderland on 8 November in the Premier League. If Madueke is unavailable for that game and the international break, he could return for the north London derby versus Tottenham on 23 November.
