You have to pick strongest 11, that means captains on the bench

We both know Arteta will not bench a 100% fit Odegaard. His pressing, off the ball work and duels in what Arteta values; Eze doesn’t provide that consistently.

I think Odegaard is best playing as a secondary playmaker - his short Cameo at Newcastle United was a prime top example.

Here’s a polished rewording of your passage with the same meaning but a smoother flow:

I understand this is only a hypothetical, since Odegaard still needs a few more weeks before returning to the squad.

However, if we imagine the captain is fully fit and available for the Chelsea match next weekend, I can’t shake the uneasy feeling that Arteta would still leave Eze on the bench in favour of his favourite pet.

I’m on the same page on this and should Arsenal fall short yet again, chances are Odegaard would be the main culprit.

Bhai aap ka chatgpt prompt sath copy ho gya lol 😂

On a serious note, Eze was unbelievable today and Trossard always contributes from LW. It’s going to be difficult to take their spots for anybody. Eze will start I have no doubt. The last match when everybody was available, the mid three was Rice behind Eze and Odegaard. Zubi started on the bench.

Odegaard can provide duties wearing the Gunnersaurus costume on match days. It's been a blessing in disguise that he's been out injured.

You get the impression that Eze is what you want Bellingham to be. His ball control, drive into and around the box plus shot accuracy is very good. He knows how to get into the correct positions too on a counter or press.

Very good player

Eze without a doubt class player

Major upgrade to Odegaard in that position!

I just hope Arteta doesn’t revert to his captain or shall I say Arsenal’s equivalent of Babar Azam (Odegaard). Unfortunately, I suspect he will, and that decision could cost us the title, as like you say, he would be a significant downgrade compared to Eze.

Odegaard underperformed in the business end of 21/22 and 22/23 when Arsenal were fighting for top 4 and title respectively. He also underperformed in the first half of 23/24 and he was just garbage throughout last season.

Munoz, 13, becomes youngest Uefa Youth League player

Arsenal's 13-year-old midfielder Luis Munoz has become the youngest ever player to feature in the Uefa Youth League.

The England Under-15 international, born in December 2011, came off the bench in the 85th minute of Arsenal's 4-2 win over Bayern Munich in the under-19s competition - in a game that was also notable because of two goals from Gunners wonderkid Max Dowman.

At 13 years 11 months and 15 days, Munoz breaks the record held by Liam Payas - who played for Gibraltar-based Lincoln Red Imps aged 14 years three months and one day in September last year.

Munoz, who turns 14 next month, plays as a midfielder but came on as a forward for the last few minutes of the match.

Earlier this month, Munoz was part of the Arsenal Under-16 squad that won the Premier League U16 National Finals, beating Aston Villa in the final.

Dowman, 15, who made his Premier League debut in August, was 14 years eight months and 19 days old when he played in the Uefa Youth League for the first time.

The competition is for the under-19s teams of the clubs competing in the Champions League.

Emerson Nwaneri, 15 and brother of first-team midfielder Ethan, also came off the bench in the victory.

The Gunners are unlikely to progress to the knockout stages, after four losses in their opening five games, and their squad for the match against Bayern featured a number of less experienced youngsters to give them exposure to the competition.

1-1 so far..

Very poor goal to give away, can't switch off like that vs a team like bayern

Bayern have brilliant. Total football.
They look very good on ball. Early on they seemed to just over pass with no venom, but after going 1-0 down they started to the look threatening. Olise has been outstanding

Eze at other end has been good and chance he wasted at 1-0 to make it 2-0 was sort of chance we needed to put away.

Arsenal can score again, but at Same time, we need to stop bayern moving ball around like they did in last 20 mins of the half

Excellent win. Like Chelsea, Arsenal go to Stamford Bridge on a high this weekend.

As mentioned by AJ, Arteta's subs changed the game and he certainly won the tactically duel against Kompany.

In the battle of Pep's disciples, Arteta came out on top.

For me the man of the match was Rice. It was like watching prime Gerrard.

Only downsides were Trossard's injury and MLS' performance, who found it tough against Olise and Karl.

Love it when 10-men teams play football like this. They have had 11 attempts versus Arsenal’s 5 lol.

Very tough game, a draw was a fair result.

You have retard Liverpool fans chirping up because they beat relegation rivals West ham

Arsenal were lucky to be playing 10 men. If it wasn't for Caicedo's red card, Chelsea would've won this game. They were the better side and deserve credit for their performance.

Arsenal struggled to handle Chelsea's press and physicality. They found themselves losing a lot of second balls. I will happily take the point given the level of performance I saw from Arsenal.

The title race is far from over. Arsenal have yet to make a real statement win, as they've failed to beat Liverpool (when they were top), City and now Chelsea.

Arsenal performance away from home on league this season have been very substandard.

United away - scrapped 1-0 win
Liverpool away - set up defensively and lost
Newcastle away - really poor 1st, but won 2-1
Fulham away - won a scrappy game 1-0
Burnley away - won easily
Sunderland away - poor 1st half and ended 2-2
Chelsea 1-1 - didn't play well

Other than Burnley away, we haven't play well in a full game so far this season in PL

Losing Saliba for today's game was a big blow.. playing a brand new centre back partnership affected the dynamics of the game, with Rice dropping deeper and deeper to compensate.

We should have won the game when it became 10 v 11 but we didn't lose and we took a point away at Stamford bridge so we just have to move on from this, dust ourselves down and go again on Wednesday

Exactly. Saliba-Gabriel is an iconic partnership whereas Mosquera-Hicappie is brand new. Arsenal are where they are because of the former duo, of course they were missed. Chelsea would have been hiding if those two were in, I feel.

Also the number of yellows thrown out, there were three in first 12 mins, that just made our players tentative and took away some of the physical decisiveness from those players once they were on yellow.

Chelsea are good, better than most, but not near Arsenal. They got away without a beating.

The standards Mikel Arteta have set that 4 Wins 2 Draws 1 Loss away from home are being called very substandard.

I know what you mean though. Conceded 5 goals in 7 games and kept only 3 clean sheets. Bro you set the bar so high 😂

Credit were credits due. Even With 10 men, they gave as good as they got. They physically matched Arsenal. Maybe the Bsyern Game took alot out of the Gooners.

A point at Stamford Bridge isn't a bad result but when they go down to 10 men it will feel like a bit of a missed opportunity

City and Chelsea will drop points so Arsenal don't need to be perfect, just need to make sure the gap doesn't get smaller

You completely missed the point I made, I wasn't talking about the away results, I was talking about the teams performances which are 2 seperate things

You can still win or draw games not playing well, but long term its non sustainable

. Other than Burnley away, all the other performances have essentially been poor disjointed performances where Arsenal have played maybe a decent half or 30 mins of football in most of those games.

Newcastle Sunderland been prime examples were we were **** in the 1st half.

We weren't great at old Trafford, Anfield or Stamford Bridge either.

Look at the home performances and they are comfortable or we are playing well.

Chelsea did exactly what Sunderland and Newcastle did this season. Got physical and gave Arsenal no time on ball. The difference in Sunderland and Newcastle games was Arsenal improved 2nd half. Yesterday we were average all game

Fair point. These have been some disjointed performances, with fluidity lacking. As you said, Chelsea yesterday weren’t giving Arsenal any time on the ball and frustrated Arsenal. Our players gave away the ball unnecessarily too a lot. Agreed, we should be doing better than what we did.

7 Point separate Chelsea in 3rd and Fulham in 17th. So there are alot of teams now that are similar standard in PL. I'm not saying Chelsea and Fulham are, but my point is other than wolves, Burnley, possibly West ham away there won't be ant easy away games for anyone in the league. When we play Villa away (next away game) they will do the same come out fast, aggressive etc.. and to many away games we are playing half asleep. Also maybe playing games every 3 days will take its toll. There just needs to be a better intensity in the away games. Other than burnley, the performances have been disjoined for atleast 1 half in a game. We just need to be careful not to let others close the gap. Everyone will drop points. But we need sharper away performances

1–1

Has the bottling begun??

How is it bottling when Arsenal are only few months into the season lol? Forced agendas don’t work here. Only 3 months ago Liverpool were ahead.

Anyhow, Arsenal really should have got the 3 points especially with 10 men Chelsea but in the end it was a fair result because Chelsea played very well. Not ideal playing a big in form team with Gabriel / Saliba and Trossard out. Arsenal didn’t win their duels at all.

Right now Arsenal’s position is luxury considering during the same period they have had Madueke, Odegaard, Kai, Jesus, Saka, Saliba, Gabriel, Trossard and Martinelli out. That is absolutely insane, there needs to be a game management recheck or medical team need to be questioned for the amount of injuries Arsenal are having.

It's only way Liverpool fans can cope at moment, it was eid / Xmas for Liverpool fans Sunday after beating west ham

Yes, yet to beat anyone in the top 5 and have only beaten Man U in the top 8 away from home. That’s why it’s crucial for Arsenal to get past Villa (and Brentford tomorrow) at Villa Park to silence those lingering doubts.

Well observed.

Arsenal's system broke down with the absence of both Saliba and Gabriel. Hincapie and Mosquera didn't have the same composure on the ball. Rice dropping deep was needed to help them transition from defence to midfield, but we wouldn't have seen this had at least Saliba played that game.

I seen a graphic online yesterday where it showed Arsenal next 9 PL fixtures, from those same fixtures last season we won 2 out 9, drawing most of them. We clearly are a better side this season.

But we need to win Need to beat Brentford tonight, then go into Villa game with good confidence

We have 8 fixtures in December (7 PL and 1 LC game) and we have 7 games in January (4 PL, 1 FA and 2 CL) that would change to 9 if we make LC semis.

So we either have 15 or 17 games in 2 months, including tonight. So we will see how good this squad is.

Arsenal 1-0 up, Merino doing good job as striker. Probably best he play there instead of midfield where he wasn't good enough.

Raya with a great save to keep at 1-0 from schade

Arsenal have let Brentford settle into this game.

They desperately need that 2nd goal as I can sense Brentford are gonna Nick one here

Mosquera Injured 1st half, hincapie now head injury. Defensive options being stretched. We need to see this game out and win

Job done tonight 2-0

5 Point gap restored, 6 ahead of villa.

Villa have won 8 out of last 9 games, so Saturday will be tough.

Bees played well despite fielding the B-Team! Bought on the big guns too late.

Still an amazing experience at the Emirates.

👍👍

The great team Leeds United helped you extend the gap by crushing Chelsea, the 10-men team you could noe defeat🤭

Very scrappy game and was tough. 2-0 wasn't really a reflection of how close game was

Glad you enjoyed the stadium 👍😁
I think I walked 2000 steps just to get to turnstile K! Walked the wrong direction, and had to walk back around!

But yeah totally unique for me - 17K stadium at GTECH then to the 60K Emirates stadium!

The challenging part obviously is the trek back home! We had to chill out for about an hour before entering the Tube!

2 negatives. The score line, and the corner perspective of the game for away fans. Very difficult to follow the game, so best to end up chanting instead! Especially towards the Arsenal Ultra-Fan drummer! He got it good! :)

Walk a further 10-12 mins and catch the train from Finsbury Park, should you re-visit the Emirates.

I think they can stay within a reasonable distance but won't get close enough to Arsenal to really threaten

Their next 3 fixtures are

Arsenal (H)
Leeds (a)
Bournemouth (a)

They'll beat Leeds, not convinced they win the Arsenal or Bournemouth game, that would then put them far enough behind

Win all 3, especially with one of them being Arsenal then I'll have to reconsider and recognise them as serious challengers
I was right about them not beating Arsenal but wrong about them beating Leeds, terrible performance and result

They won't challenge

Only City have a chance and I still think they are way too vulnerable, conceding 8 goals in 3 games does not bode well for them, even if they have managed to score 9 themselves

With the fixtures they’ve got, it wouldn’t shock me if Arsenal, City, Chelsea, and Liverpool all lost points.

Arsenal's Mosquera could be out for at least six weeks

Arsenal fear Cristhian Mosquera will miss at least six weeks to add to their defensive problems.

The Spanish defender is set for further tests to establish the full extent of the ankle injury suffered in the 2-0 midweek win over Brentford.

Mosquera's absence will be another blow to the Gunners, who also currently have first-choice centre-back pairing Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba sidelined.

The 21-year-old required treatment after landing awkwardly before being substituted, and early concerns are he will miss between six and eight weeks.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said his summer signing from Valencia required further examination as he added: "Mosquera is the one that is more complicated. We have another test today."

He also told Friday's news conference Saliba is "days" away from returning after a knock in training ruled him out of recent games against Chelsea and Brentford, while Gabriel may not be back until January with a thigh injury.

Mosquera and Piero Hincapie have been deputising for the pair but, with Mosquera now facing a long lay-off, Saliba's availability will be crucial for Arsenal, who are currently top of both the Premier League and Champions League group phase.

The Gunners visit third-placed Aston Villa on Saturday (12:30 GMT), before a trip to Club Brugge on Wednesday, 10 December (20:00 GMT).

Yaar what is this consistent Zalalat against Aston Villa

We keep dropping points to them as if they are Bayern Munich!

Arteta must rotate his side better than he has. He tends to stick to his strongest team at all costs. When clearly he should be rotating to freshen things up.

Come on Arsenal!!!!

Keep this intensity throughout!

Villa will score another at any point! Don’t stop hunting

We were poor 1st half. We have started 2nd half way better
