So back to football. The Premier league is awful according to these pundits. It's a poor league. Everyone is rubbish is what I read the other day.

So can you tell me why if the Premier league is so weak that 5 of the top 8 in the UCL the competition that we are told is the highest level are teams that are from the Premier league.

I know it was Arsenal's second string side but to concede 2 goals to Kairat of all sides isn't good enough.

Arsenal could have scored 8+ goals. Wasteful in front of goal. We seriously need to improve.

It was a dead rubber game, main thing was resting key players Raya, saliba, Gabriel, Rice, saka and them having a rest before the leeds game.

The wastefulness in front of goal isn't anything new. Most of our attackers are simply not good enough. Even in latter stages of CL, its going to be our keeper and defence which will be ones bailing us out. When it matters most our attackers don't have killer instinct.

The system of play doesn't help either, some team in CL will set up tactically and expose that like PSG did last season.

This is precisely why I personally enjoy games outside of the B6. Football has now become a business.

Give me Brentford vs Newcastle, Burnley, Wolves, Brighton Bournemouth, Villa, Everton, West Ham etc any day of the week over Man U, Man City etc. (Not speaking from an experience POV, but an entertainment/passion POV).

There's more passion when 2 teams have nothing to lose but go all out! 99.99999% of Bees supporters are local. There is no international Brentford supporter, barring the odd few who may have migrated from West London.

I'm grateful to experience the PL to the level I have had, I only follow PL because of Bees promotion (after NINE Play Off losses) and it could not have come at a better time given the decline in Cricket standards.

Inshallah I hope to experience some footy in Europe - if/when Bees qualify no matter what the comp!

Rest assured, I shall provide my analysis of European football clubs! :D
 
Only just noticed Arsenal scored the most goals in the League phase of the Champions League. They also conceded the least.

Why are no pundits coming out now and talking about a boring/rubbish team scoring more goals than the Super powers of Europe who have heritage.

Nothing is won at this stage - the same goes for the PL but I wish these so called poor pundits would be consistent with their comments and maybe apply some logic sometimes.

Fun Fact Arsenal scored 26% of their goals in the champions league via Set pieces...

Guess who scored 30% of their goals via Set pieces in the champions league??? Liverpool!!!

Had an odd interaction yesterday with one of my students from the Adults class. Might even block his next belt for this :ROFLMAO:

He came to me and said Arsenal were nothing special last night (meaning weds) - I said did you watch the game, he's like they are boring.

So I said to him - 36 teams were in action yesterday. Europe's elite. You are talking Barca, Real, Liverpool, Bayern etc etc.
You decided to watch a team who had nothing riding on the game who played their 2nd XI against a team that was the bottom of the league who nobody has heard of and also had nothing to play for, yet you are complaining that Arsenal were boring.

With the possibility of 6 English teams in last 16, all English ties are likely to be possibly tricker on the basis. These teams will know how you play, also till use tactics used in PL, long balls, throws, rough house tactics over 2 legs to make it harder.

The European Big guns Real, psg, Barca, Bayern are more likely to fancy taking on English teams in an attack shoot out
 
Yep. Also its the mindset. A Group Game mentality is different to a knockout. In General, this is where in recent seasons the European Heavyweights have had the edge over their Premier League counterparts.

Group stages with 8 fixtures you essentially set up to try and win every game.

Knockouts teams will tactically adjust, to don't have to win both games in a knockout tie to go through.

Liverpool and Barca were rampant In last years group stages. Teams like PSG and inter, showed that if you tactically adjust you can get through.

This is why I'd say their is NO clear favourites to win the CL

Exactly that. The system and style of play from Arsenal is same but they have more space to work with in attack, particularly in transitions because in Europe teams will have a go and try to get rewards in front of goal when in possession.

For some reason when you tag me, I never get a notification (and I've had you in my ignore list) which is weird.

I go to the Emirates on average, once a month and I would say Arsenal have some of the most passionate fans. If anyone disputes this, they should listen to Arsenal fans during the away games. They're something else and I'm not just saying that.

Definite difference. The atmosphere for the matches I have gone to has been been poor.... gooner work colleagues..

I attend the weekend. Last game I went to was the game against Brighton on the 27th of last month.
