I am totally in favor. At least it will separate real gay people from the general public. A lot of women get married to gay husbands and their lives get ruined.

The social stigma about gay people must go away completely. Its about time. Gay people are real and they should have the freedom to choose and live the lives they want. Not what someone says about them.

Marriages are a religious / holy construct. Therefore, I don’t understand why LGBTQ need to be “married”.

However, as far as 2 people living together is concerned, I don’t really care or for that matter mind. So, I’m quite open minded in that sense.

But whether they should be allowed to raise children in a gay/lesbian family - in Pakistan - is another question.
It is also civil union. Marriages come with civil rights. Right to property is one of the most important part of it.

I don't know why anyone would object in India anyway, it's not like it's an Islamic country. There might be problems for the family unit further down the line, but gay people are dominating the entertainment and fashion industry. Let them flourish in India and enjoy the benefits at least.

One issue is divorce isn’t really allowed in the conservative Hinduism . Modi has been separated for years but won’t divorce. So they have to come out of the closet before 7 laps to marriage.

Why is there stigma when Hinduism has no issues with homosexual relations?

Society is conservative and not open like the West. Friends tease and neighbors talk dirty behind their backs. "Log Kya Sochenge" is still strong in most middle class.

It will change like all things with Hinduism.

Homosexuality must be decriminalised in Pakistan too. There are a lot of gay people in Pakistan who feel oppressed by the societal stigma and have to hide their true orientation.

Divorce wasn't allowed in Catholicism either but I'm sure it's been passed now. Hindus need to make their mind up, if they want to hold onto strict societal norms of the past which are based on family values then they might as well adopt Islam. Modi seems to be trying to create a Taliban-lite anyway, might as well go for the real thing.

Such relationships are against the faith , will never happen . Yes they have to hide but it doesn’t stop them .

Any famous Indians who are openly gay ?

Islam has rules, while Hinduism as been told on here, changes, do what you like . I think when a famous BJP politician, Indian cricket star or Bollywood actor comes out , the cupboards will open like Narnia has arrived.

You are talking about 70 year olds. Not many have similar hangups in this generation in urban India.

There will be more, but the list is from entertainment industry.

The union of man and women is sacred. When they have children this is what naturally grows the world population. With same sex marriages everyone will be having fake test tube babies or whatever you call it thereby challenging and changing the law of Allah. When a society messes with nature then expect a massive backlash. Now it could be that in the Hindu faith same sex marriages are allowed but in Islam and Ibrahamic faiths they are absolutely loathed.

Question for all those people who are advocating for this unnatural thing.

Do you think that two mothers or 2 fathers would be able to give the same to their children that a mother and a father can give to children?

2 mothers mean no real interaction with a man and the same goes for the case of 2 fathers, no interaction with a woman. Don't you think it will create a lot of problem for those children to survive in the real world?

I think the simple answer to this question is that loving parent/s can can do a good job of bringing up children. I agree the ideal given societal acceptance and current norms would be a loving male/female partnership but even a single divorcee/widow/widower, a loving male/male or female/female partnership is better than orphanages or parents unwilling or unable to bring up their children.
