Asia Cup 2023: Pakistan (128) suffer a massive 228-run defeat against India (356/2) in the Super 4 clash

Great mr. Rana pride of pakistan who met nawaz sharif to make him comeback into cricket team.

Pakistan generally underperforms when they have favorites tag. Psychologically they find it much easier as underdogs, so maybe these kind of losses will help them do well in tournaments.
The last time Pakistan was a favorite in a clash with India was back in the 1999 World Cup. I don’t think you can rationalize serial choking with something so reductive.

2 more encounters between these sides this year. One at absolute road of a pitch at Ahmeabad where par score will be 350.
Howz the Ahmedabad pitch? Does it have some pace?
Our pacers were completely negated on this colombo pitch because it's very slow

Knew it pakistan batsmen can't play kuldeep hopefully when they meet again they will world him out

This batting line up can’t chase over 300 in testing conditions. It looks so light on batting, yes there’s so called all rounders and bowlers who chip in to get Pak to defendable scores. But the actual batsmen don’t inspire faith, pretty poor on paper.

I'd like to see the boundaries lengthened in PSL and our home internationals. Many Pakistani batsmen rely on clearing short boundaries to boost SR instead of running hard between wickets.

It allows them to get away with high dot ball percentages.

We saw in the T20 WC final at MCG how these guys were exposed. Even here some of those shots would've cleared the ropes in Lahore where the ropes are pulled in to a crazy extent.

This was nothing short of a minnow level performance. Nepal would have beaten Pakistan on the performance in this match. Performance wise our highs are decent but our lows are TOO low. No other big side can perform as badly as Pakistan are capable of at any time. Truly shambolic.

Very true, atleast ODIs pakistan is keeping faith on wrong options. Bits and pieces players can be helpfull in t20s but not in a 50 over game. Out of shadab, nawaz, ifti, faheem and agha, both ifti and agha are part timers as a bowler and good enough to bat at number 6. Shadab, nawaz and fahim as a bowler can be just good at maximum in helpfull conditions but horrible on a flat deck. They need to find out a specialist genuine spinner and specialist batsmans at number 4 and 5.
The problem is inzi loving faheem and Babar never changes the so called winning 11 until that winning 11 gets badly badly exposed like it is today.

Have you ever heard of a strategy to play your winning 11 in every game? Including bilaterals and against minnows like Nepal? That winning 11 will eventually lose badly, that's why every player needs to be shuffled and evaluated over and over, Theirs a reason BCCI or NZ or England send their 2nd string sides, they wanna see who's gonna be a good inclusion for their eventual 1st string world cup squads.

We have so many options but people choose these failures who never perform in proper 1st string matches, and whenever I say things like have saud or Abdullah come forth, everyone responds with, bro their strike rates suck and they've failed before.

Bhai, unlike your bits and pieces and fakhar, they don't have any technical issues, so their gonna improve if you keep playing them, but pakistan doesn't bother.

Just imagine, pakistan didn't bother testing these players against afghanistan and Nepal, minnow teams lol.

Saim came good and was the only shining beacon in the afghanistan series and while raw is looking to improve but pakistan doesn't care,

Saud and Abdullah are so technically compact even more so then imam and Babar but their not being given a long long go at no 4 and opening while fakhar is despite just being out of it at this point.

Why are some players auto dropped after 1 game when pak plays them in out of order positions but tried and tested failures perform over and over?

Everyone just bashed me when ifti smashed Nepal when I kept saying ifti ain't the answer.

It's extremely extremely frustrating to see this mentality from pak. They don't bother evaluting what England did after 2015 and what Australia have been doing for decades.

And that's to keep sticking with promising players and rotating them over and over . Giving them chances without having the fear of being dropped. Not caring about bilateral results or rankings but caring about what matters which is the cup.

Why did we win the champions trophy? Because we brought in an inform fakhar to rescue us from Ahmed shezad, as well as a captain who was mentally attacking at the time.

Babar ain't doing that, his formula strategy will win him some games, he's got no plan B for when that formula doesn't work.

Still feel Wasim Jr. in place of Faheem would have been way better.
Also I believe Usman Qadir can prove to be way more fruitful than Shadab. He isn't that great of an all rounder either.
But faheem 'can' bat.
That is how babar thinks.
Agha plays ahead of Saud because he can bowl.
Shadab will always play because he can bat

Lets face it, both teams believed the weather reports and thought this game would be washed out too; and it is through sheer incompetence Babar decided to bowl first.

Once again Pakistan captain gifting a victory to the opposition.

T20 games can create a false sense of equality between teams. ODIs & Tests are where the real cricket skills matter and Pakistan is a below par team.

Reality checks are always good. Pakistan’s team is unsettled, its batsmen undercooked and its bowlers too raw. Unless they genuinely fix these issues in the next couple weeks, Pakistan is in for a rude awakening in India come the World Cup.

Then how Indian Pacers were bowling beautifully and Pakistani batsman dancing infront of them ??
Because Pak batsmen are poor and there was help for seamers under lights.
Real test for ur pacers will come against likes of Australia and England. Not when ur team has put 350+ on the board against probably the worst players of swing and seam amongst top sides

Saud isn't going to light the world on fire in ODI.
But he has chance. He has proven his mettle in tests. And those who understand cricket know what it means. Likes of chacha and Agha don't any chance

It is a road. Gill massacred so many fast bowlers on this ground. It is his home ground. Teams can play show intent right through 50 overs. Skiddy bowlers can also be good here. But ball coems on nicely.

If Pak-SL game gets washed out, Pakistan can be eliminated due to poorer NRR.

Pakistan need to beat SL to go through now.

Good preparation for world cup. Team gelling was good. But bigger challenges ahead in the world cup.

This is not just an ordinary loss. Something doesn't seem to be right here. They had no intent to play or attack at least. This only happens where there are internal rifts and groupings within the team. Babar as usual when team is loosing was not seen in the dug out. Shameful defeat and much needed wake up call for selectors for persisting with toothless shadab, trundler Faheem and out of form Fakhar.

Pakistan's NRR has taken quite a beating. SL a big winner after this result.

Taking nothing away from Indian players the Pak ones seemed awful from the start. Most of them seemed overawed by the occasion. Then when it was our turn to bat their seemed no belief and lackadaisical...no player showed any desire to build an innings. Had Pak batted first no way would we have scored even close to what India got. Our chances of making the final are 50/50. Now Babar is facing ultimate humiliation in his attempts to speak English!!

Pakistan's biggest margins of defeat in ODIs when batting second:

234 runs versus Sri Lanka in 2009 at Lahore
228 runs versus India today at Colombo

Kicking out half the team is good and well. Question is who do we bring in?

Babar Azam | Pakistan captain: Weather was not in our hands but we tried our best. We were not up to the mark with our batting and bowling. They (Indian openers) had plans for our bowlers and started well and that was followed up by Virat and Rahul. Jasprit and Siraj bowled well in the first 10 overs and swung the ball both ways, but our batting was not up to the mark.

Kuldeep Yadav: Very happy at the moment. It is the consistency from the last one and half years, I have got my rhythm back and am enjoying my bowling. It is good to get five wickets, I am just thinking about bowling on a good length. It is amazing to get 5 wickets in ODIs or Tests. I have my plans when playing against the top sides. I have played against them (Pakistan) in 2019 and know their strengths, but I bowled to my strengths. I am focusing on bowling wicket to wicket, good sides try to sweep or slog sweep or sweep and give me a chance to get wickets.
