With just over a week left for their blockbuster Asia Cup 2025 clash, Indian cricket team and Pakistan cricket team came across each other for the first time on Saturday. Both teams practiced at the International Cricket Council (ICC) Academy in Dubai ahead of the tournament. According to a report by ESPNCricinfo, India held their second training session since arriving for the competition in United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The session reportedly lasted for over three hours with all specialist batters spending around an hour out in the middle. On the other hand, Pakistan arrived for practice ahead of their tri series final against Afghanistan. Both teams reportedly stuck to their routines and there were no conversations or pleasantries exchanged between players from both teams.

Indian middle order batters SR vs different types of bowling since 2023..

What’s on show here is that most of these bats have complementary skills, meaning in order to maximize the team’s overall output, they will have to play really rather prudently to their favored match-ups.

Rinku’s junk against spin, Axar’s junk against pace. SKY’s uncharacteristically slow against slow left-armers, and leg break is Tilak’s kryptonite.

With public outrage brewing over India’s scheduled Asia Cup clash against Pakistan on September 14 in Dubai, BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia has defended the fixture, citing government policy on participation in multinational tournaments. The criticism stems from the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam on April 22, where 26 tourists were killed.

Amid calls for a boycott of the match, including disapproval from former cricketers and fans, Saikia clarified that the Indian cricket board is acting in accordance with guidelines issued by the central government. The revised policy, introduced in August, permits Indian athletes and teams to participate in multinational events featuring countries not on friendly terms with India, while continuing to bar bilateral engagements with those nations.

"So far as the BCCI's view is concerned, we have to follow whatever the central government formalises," Saikia told ANI. "Recently, our policy, which is in place, regarding India's participation in any multinational tournament or international tournament, there is no restriction imposed by the central government on whether we play any of the countries which are not on good terms with India."

He reiterated that India's participation in the Asia Cup and other ICC events is mandatory under international commitments. "As the ICC Cup is a multinational tournament involving the countries of the Asia continent, so we have to play. And also, for any ICC tournament, when there is a country which is not on friendly terms with India, we have to play in the international tournaments," he said.

Bilateral contests, however, remain off the table. “So far as bilateral is concerned, we are not going to play with any of our hostile countries,” Saikia said, drawing a firm line in line with national policy.

He also warned of the broader implications if India were to boycott a multinational event. According to Saikia, refusing to participate in matches against certain countries could invite sanctions from global sporting bodies, not just in cricket but across other sports disciplines as well.

"So we are following the policy framed by the government of India, the Youth and Sports Development Department," he said. "And for that, BCCI will have to do it. And we are very happy to follow the policy. That policy is very nicely done, taking into consideration not only cricket, but also other games."

To highlight the seriousness of the issue, Saikia pointed to the potential risks athletes like Neeraj Chopra could face if similar boycott sentiments were applied in other sports. "Suppose in athletics, India is not playing a particular tournament because we have to play with a player belonging to a hostile country. In that situation, if any sanction comes with the Indian Athletic Association, then take the example, suppose Neeraj Chopra, he won't be able to participate in any international event. So that will be detrimental to the interests of the players."

Saikia noted that the government had likely accounted for all such scenarios before formulating a balanced approach that protects national interests while ensuring athletes remain part of the global competitive landscape.

Pathetic from bcci. We kill their people in india be it pehalgam or in a battle, and they still want to play us.

No self respect.

Money will always matter more than an indian life

LOL. Correct.

Just a few weeks ago, some of the Indian posters here were chest thumping how India was going to boycott. They have mellowed down now. :yk

Pure comedy.

Whatever the article says, itni technicality mere bheje meh hee nahin ghusta!

Regardless, a lot of Indians are absolutely displeased. Most of my friends are fuming.

Asia Cup 2025: Why aren’t India-Pakistan tickets selling out?

Tickets for the much-anticipated India vs Pakistan clash in the Asia Cup 2025 have not sold out fully, despite the rivalry being one of the biggest spectacles in world cricket. The two teams are scheduled to face each other at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, September 14.

This comes as a surprise considering the enormity of the contest. However, the lacklustre ticket demand is being linked to the ‘package system’ introduced by the organisers this year. Unlike previous editions, where fans could purchase tickets exclusively for the India-Pakistan match, this time they are required to buy a bundle covering seven matches.

The organisers had introduced the system to promote other group-stage matches in addition to the marquee India-Pakistan encounter. But the high pricing has seemingly backfired. Fans from India, Pakistan, and abroad expressed disappointment on social media, with many demanding the release of single-match tickets closer to the fixture.

Another major grievance was that the package does not include the Super Fours or the final. “Purchasing the package would have made sense had the knockout matches been a part of it,” one fan pointed out online.

Political Backdrop Adds to the Tension
The match also carries political weight. Earlier this year, following the terror attacks in Pahalgam, a section of Indian fans called for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to withdraw from the tournament. The Indian government, however, clarified that while bilateral cricket with Pakistan remains suspended, India will continue to participate in multi-nation events that feature Pakistan

As per the current schedule, India and Pakistan are placed in Group A alongside Oman and hosts UAE, while Group B features Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Hong Kong. Matches will be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium and the Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

@Usman Chadda read this regarding ticket sales.

Both BCCI and the Government of India are receiving sticks from Indians for this decision.

This game will be called off before next sunday. I am saying this from past one month but no one listens.

From what I've seen. Axar definitely has issues against express Right arm pace.

Pandya vs Nawaz will be interesting.

Rinku seems like a pace basher and spin bunny. I haven't seen him play though

Parag from what I saw in emerging Asia cup is solid with good potential.

Dube is good too.

Sky is India's best T20I better. Yet to perform against Pakistan though.

Tilak seems good too. Though a few issues against spin.

Where's Abhishek? I think his SR will be high against all types of bowlers.

They're not boycotting. It's merely a 'takia kalam'.

Well you may be right about the match eventually not getting cancelled but its not takia kalam. You need to understand, majority of Indians dont want this match to happen. There has been debates in parliament where MPs have demanded this match to be called off. There has been surveys done by reputed agencies and majority had said no to this game. In Indian forums, this match will not be even covered or discussed. Yes some do want to see this match and that is only bcoz Pakistan is ranked 7 side and we want to have some asthetic pleasure in beating them.

Maybe there is some majboori in BCCI for accepting this game which came as a shock for everyone. But remember, BCCI is a private board and does not represent sentiment of all Indians. As far as Indian Govt is concerned, this is easily the worst step they have taken since coming to power in 2014 and can well be political suicide unless there is some bigger game/gain that I am missing.

Funny enough I respect those indians actually boycotting, fighting the goverment tooth and nail and actually residing in India to make it happen then a run away alt harassing troll.

Old enough to remember few days ago you wouldnt trust and mock me when I said tickets are not getting sold out for this match. Now moderator has posted similar article in post #411.

I already have said the same to some Vikram guy here, that the only reason we still have tickets showing up is because not many want to spend 1000+ AED to watch India vs UAE or Pakistan vs Oman.

Why would @Rajdeep and his cousins buy tickets that includes the opportunity of watching Pakistan playing Oman :shappy

Is BCCI or Indian Govt. Putting Indians on gunpoint that they have to watch and follow the match against Pakistan?

Lets put your money where your mouth is.

@Rajdeep

Atm I am in Bangkok going to Phuket soon. If the match is boycott, I will return to Pakistan or take a vacation to Australia to meet some friends.

If the match goes ahead, it's your life that is 💀.

Go ahead, Stake your life on it. 👺👺.

Ps: I'm just joking here. Enjoy your day. I hope god gives you a great life Amen. (This is the irl version of me talking, now back to PP version next comment)

Happy to inform you that the 3-day match passes for the four General Stands have been sold out, while the Platinum tickets are also sold out.

So there are people dumb enough to spend money to watch either India v UAE or Pakistan v Oman I guess :mv

Sami Ul Hasan, former head of the ICC’s media and communication department, speaking during an interview:

“It’s all about maximising eyeballs and tournament revenue.”

“When the ICC plans a global event, organisers do not consider rankings or any other factors. It’s all about making sure India and Pakistan play against each other at least once.”

“Over the last two decades, the ICC has changed the format of its tournaments multiple times in order to ensure that happens.”

“It’s tricky to pull off multiple India-Pakistan games at global events, but easier to achieve this outcome in smaller tournaments such as the Asia Cup.”

“Even at the Asia Cup, the most they’ve got so far is two matches per tournament. They have been trying for a third [in the final] but it hasn’t materialised yet.”

“Rules must not be bent for anyone. What happened then did not set a good example for the game. Playing conditions and rules are signed off prior to the tournament and are not tinkered with.”

“Changing them to accommodate certain fixtures gives out a message that everything is about money and commercialisation of that single fixture.”

“For India to say it doesn’t want to play against Pakistan due to political reasons would weaken its case as a potential global sporting hub.”

Petition filed in Supreme Court seeking ban on India vs Pakistan fixture - Report

A plea has reportedly been filed in the Supreme Court seeking ban on the upcoming Asia Cup 2025 fixture between India and Pakistan.

The arch-rivals are slated to square off on September 14 at the Dubai International Stadium in a Group A encounter. They might face each other thrice in the continental showpiece, provided both teams make it to the Super 4s and final.

Ever since the schedule was announced in July, the BCCI has faced significant criticism for agreeing to play against Pakistan as the tensions between two nations are at an all-time high following the Pahalgam terror attack and retaliatory Operation Sindoor.

With only a few days remaining for the marquee clash, a Pune-based activist named Ketan Tirokdar has filed a petition in the Supreme Court of India, saying that the contest should not go ahead in the backdrop of the Pahalgam terror attack which took away 26 lives.

According to India Today, in his plea, Tirokdar mentioned that the match is against the Constitution of India as it violates Article 21 that assures right to life and personal liberty which includes the right to live with dignity, the right to livelihood, and the right to a healthy environment.

“The said sporting event declared by BCCI is draconian and prejudicial to the interests of the nation, the armed forces and common citizens. Their rights are getting drastically eroded due to the adverse impact of the decision of BCCI to treat Pakistan sportingly as a friend worth playing cricket amid the series of killings of soldiers and citizens being carried out by Pakistani terrorists in the Kashmir Valley," the plea said.

As per the plea, playing the match is like sending “an anti-national message to our forces and civilians that ‘we do not care for you'".

Last month, the Sports Ministry said India won’t engage in any bilateral sporting clash with Pakistan, but the cricket team’s participation in multilateral tournaments will not be stopped.

“Insofar as bilateral sports events in each other’s country are concerned, Indian teams will not be participating in competitions in Pakistan. Nor will we permit Pakistani teams to play in India," a statement from Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports said.

“With regard to international and multilateral events, in India or abroad, we are guided by the practices of international sports bodies and the interest of our own sportspersons. It is also relevant to take into account India’s emergence as a credible venue to host international sports events. Accordingly, Indian teams and individual players will take part in international events that also have teams or players from Pakistan. Similarly, Pakistani players and teams will be able to participate in such multilateral events hosted by India," it added.

My 3 predictions:

1. India vs Pakistan match on 14th September will go ahead.
2. India will win against Pakistan
3. @Rajdeep will post in the El Clasico match thread.

A very notorious thought just crossed my mind. Now that we’ve destroyed UAE and will probably do the same to Oman, we’ll cakewalk into the Super 4 anyway. So why not just #Boycott the Pakistan game and concede 2 points?

In the Super 4, we’ll face another qualifier from our group plus B1 and B2. If we beat B1 and B2 convincingly, we can again #Boycott Pakistan and still comfortably reach the finals.

Then just hope Pakistan don’t make it to the final.

How’s the idea?

@jnaveen1980 @Devadwal @Nikhil_cric

:genius :kp

Think Kuldeep and Bumrah will skittle pak out for below 100 also
Thats very much possible, but I hope the boys show some fight. This Indian bowling with Kuldeep and Varun won’t give us a chance.

Only good thing is Pakistan is coming off three intense games vs a very good spin bowling attack in their favorite conditions. The bad thing is they didn’t seem to have an answer most of the time.

There’s a game that millions of people await, just enjoy the excitement and move on with your life. That boycott train has long passed.

It's going to be a very one sided game. On these wickets, there is no way pak part time batters are going to get any runs against this Indian attack.

I have an even better idea. Why not boycott PP and fall into a volcano never to be seen and heard from again?

When you have entered tournament knowing the fixtures, people should calm down. The game must happen. Anyway India's issue is with Pakistani military and not with misguided public. Tournament game should keep happening unless there is an active war.

Hypocrisy ki b seema hoti ha

This guy is so unsure about himself. Part of him wants to boycott.. Part of Him wants match to happen so he can see india win and then get to tell us we beat Pak on cricket ground , Believe us we also beat Pak in May 😂😂

He is so excited , Keeps coming back to match thread to tell us match is not happening

Kamran Akmal shared his thoughts on upcoming high voltage encounter:

"It will be a pressure game for both sides. Many of the young players will be playing against each other for the first time,”

“Our team has recently won the tri-series. The confidence from winning the series should benefit Pakistan.”

“Pakistan can surprise India if they come up with a good game plan and Playing XI,”

“You don’t need to say anything to any player,”

“From my side, there is no instruction to anyone, as long as it stays on the field,”

If Pakistan India game happens, then what moral ground will Bhajji Yuvi and other namoonas be standing
:yk2

Regardless what happens in this game, the pressure Mike Hesson will face will be intense.

If Pakistan win, the bar in raised ahead of the T20WC next year & if he loses, the pressure from the Pakistan media regarding the playing style will constantly be questioned.

He is about to experience a game he hasn’t experienced before. Good luck Mike.

Today, Bumrah was bowiing in mid 130s with occasional ball at 140 kph. Don't know if he was holding himself back or not but he wasn't getting much swing either. Pandya and Arshdeep are also trundlers. Pakistan will just have to deal with Kuldeep imo.

Heat in UAE is baking up those wickets so spinners will be in play. Pakistan may have to go with Abrar and Sufyan.

This game can be lot closer than many Indians think. Ofcourse, Pakistan's game against Oman will give a better picture of the conditions at Dubai.

Pakistan ll mostly play both Shaheen and Rauf. I don't think they ll risk going with two spinners.

In today's match the ball was swinging a bit. With such conditions, Shaheen Afridi can be handful. If India loses 2-3 wickets in the power play, then Pakistan spinners can contain India in the middle overs. If I were the PCT management, I would play Wasim Jr instead of Haris Rauf.

Hahaha it is this delusion and denial that makes Pak matches so much fun.

Cricketing wise it is a no contest but watching the reactions post match is so much fun when their delusions shatter.

These "trundlers"

1. have cause plenty of pain to Pakistan in the past. In fact they have better numbers and more number of good performances against Pak than Shaheen, Rauf etc.

T20I numbers vs each other:

Hardik - 13 @ 12 with ER 7.25
Arshdeep - 7 @ 17.57 with ER 7.85
Bumrah - 5 @ 15.20 with ER 5.42

Shaheen - 4 @ 23.50 with ER 7.83
Rauf - 7 @ 22.14 with ER 8.15

2. they are the current world champions. Bumrah was the MoT. Arshdeep was the highest wicket taker and is the current T20 player of the year.

"will just have to deal with Kuldeep" 🤡

Shaheen, abrar, sufiyan is a good attack but we might need another pacer for this game... Maybe Haris will replace one of the spinner.

Another Indian fighting imaginary online battle to protect the honour of bharat mata.

No need to get triggered. Indian bowlers were bowling at 130s kph yesterday, hence I called them trundlers.

People who have Faheem bowling for them should be careful hahaha

PItch is still tacky. If you bowl slow it sticks in the surface making the timing harder. IT is still a rubbish pitch.

‘Match should go on’: Supreme Court on plea against India-Pakistan Asia Cup match

The Supreme Court on Thursday declined to urgently hear a public interest litigation (PIL) that sought cancellation of the India–Pakistan cricket match scheduled for September 14 in the Asia Cup T20 tournament. The matter was mentioned before a bench of Justices JK Maheshwari and Vijay Bishnoi, but it was unmoved.

Despite repeated requests from the counsel, who argued that whether the petition was strong or weak, it should at least be heard, the bench refused. “Every day, one side, other side, there’s a match… one ball…,” Justice Maheshwari remarked, effectively ending the matter.

Four law students, who filed the petition, argued that India playing against Pakistan, so soon after the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor, is “against national interest” and undermines the sacrifices of armed forces and civilians who lost their lives in the attack.

“Playing with Pakistan sends the opposite message—that while our soldiers are sacrificing their lives, we are celebrating sports with the same country sheltering terrorists. It can also hurt the sentiments of the families of the victims. The dignity of the nation and security of citizens come before entertainment,” the plea said.

The students argued that cricket cannot be placed above national interest, citizen safety, or the sacrifices of armed personnel. They argued that continuing with the scheduled match is “detrimental to the security, integrity, and morale of the nation.”

In addition to seeking cancellation of the match, the petitioners asked the court to direct the ministry of youth affairs to implement the National Sports Governance Act, 2025, and to bring “season ball” cricket under the ambit of a recognised National Sports Federation.

Genuinely I believe too Kuldeep is the only main threat. Varun's mystery is the same as Abrar. He bowls the same carrom, googly and off spin.

I think Varun bowls a little quicker than Abrar. He gets more bounce as well due to height and high arm action.

As long as batters can read it off the hand. It shouldn't be big problem. The grip for both mystery bowlers is very similar

Naah. Varun is better.

Varun is ranked 4 in the world and was also effective in the CT where Abrar wasn't.

Also the highest wicket taker in Ind-Pak matches Pandya is there.

As well as the T20I GOAT Bumrah.

Abrar played only one game in the UAE in the CT and bowled very well. Indian batters are on record saying they had to play out his spell, so he did have some impact.

So there was a PIL filed against this game? LOL.

I wasn’t even aware — this is big news.

I thought everyone in India was excited for this El Clasico… hahaha.

As I said, 90% of Indians don’t want us to engage or play with Pakistan. It’s only BCCI’s greed that is forcing our players into it. No wonder ticket sales are at an all-time low for this event.

Also, if people are desperate enough to file urgent PILs in the Supreme Court, I still won’t hold my breath that this match will definitely happen. Some other complain and legal stuff may get filed in. There is still time. Surely our players can’t play amidst such scrutiny and against the wishes of their own countrymen. Let’s see.

The fact that India is sitting comfortably at a net run rate of +10 with the Oman game to come means the Pakistan game is a virtual dead rubber.

Is it worth the risk for our players to even play in it?

Why do you have an issue? India is a stronger team? Why not just accept the fact that they'll likely beat PK?

Why are you desperate for a boycott? Quit the drama. Only China and its locals know how to boycott. They even boycott the English language while you can't even boycott your house, your car and your forumn and your mayor who are all Pakistani.

Nor can you boycott Aew or WWE, both of which have Shahid Khan written all over it, even wwe as Cody Rhodes stole money from his kid and then took that money back to wwe.

@Bhaag Viru Bhaag bhai non stop dua karo till Sunday because unless players actually coming to the ground anything can happen. 72 hours still left.

I just dont want you to be heart broken again on match day for 3rd time in a row.

:dw :kp
Answer me, you are dealing with the final Boss now. I remember when I asked you to he my champion and you turned on me, so I asked John Cena to kick you
