Interesting about the cultural issues, do you find similarities between Pakistanis and Indians in their reaction to Aussie culture?
Pretty similar. Pakistanis don't react to Tendulkar baiting though. Instead they laugh and agree.
I have seen the program border control, it seems like alot of illigial workers want to work in Australia,, what is the average pay in Australia?
Which is your favorite city,, other than u live it.. What is the best aussies dish we asian can it???
The average pay is pretty high?
Minimum hourly wage is about $15 but almost all adults earn at least $20. Average full time male wage is over $60,000 in every state and over $70,000 in WA.
My favourite city outside of Perth is Melbourne I guess. I like to visit to watch football matches.
Do you all ride kangaroos to school?
The loosening of tariffs and trade protections have led to Japanese car makers supplanting the Roo. According to my father emus were more reliable back in the day.
1. How is Southern Queensland? (For foreignors, chilling etc)
2. An Indian associate claimed he experienced racism from Australian women. Does this happen or is he just horrible at picking up girls?
3. How difficult is it to find a decent job in Australia? Does it make a big difference if you're from out of the country?
4. What's university life like in Australia? Is it pretty much like the so called 'Western experience' or does it differ much? What is the defining factor?
Great thread btw...
Queensland has a reputation but there wouldn't be any major issues in Brisbane that wouldn't exist in any major city in Europe or America. Rural Queensland is different. But most of the 'racists' in rural QLD and WA are more ignorant than malicious.
The job market is probably getting tougher over the last few years. Skilled Professional immigrants or skilled trades people (plumbers, electricians etc) don't have difficulties though.
Most university students actually go to university in their home city so it's not really like elsewhere. So it's a more a period of your life where you're young, don't have much responsibility, have plenty of free time and actually have freedom.
How is recent rise in rankings of Australian universities(mostly engineering) in 'popular rankings lists' is viewed among Australian students like will Australian students prefer local Top university over "prestigious"/ famous US one for graduate studies(bachelors onward) , even though there is not much difference b/w two in ranking ? (considering there are no personal issues).
The Sandstone universities (ANU, Melb Uni, Monash, Sydney Uni, University of NSW, Adelaide University, University of WA and the main university of Brisbane) do have a bit more prestige.
What would the job opportunities be for a (newly graduated) lawyer down under and what would the starting salary be expected to be? (yeah answer that lol)
Can you deport Hamish and Andy and strip them if their citizenship so we in in UK can take them?
Are the majority of streets/roads like Ramsey Street?
Law would be pretty hard actually. I've heard that the unis are producing way too many lawyers. I'd expect graduate wages to be roughly $50 to $60 thousand a year if you get into a proper law firm. Though that will end up pushing $70k within a few years.
Many lawyers just end up setting house sales and stuff.
i'l ask a genuine question....
how much spread racism in australia?
i thought it was the worst in eastern europe. but going by media, australia is the worst....
how far it is true?
if i am visiting, which places i should avoid for safety.
Australia would be probably be better than Western Europe in terms of safety. Australia copes a worse rep because we're blunt and people haven't really embraced political correctness. Major racial abuse isn't common.
Someone like Saqs might be able to explain better. I'm a white anglo-celt so there might by a lot I miss.
You won't be in any physical danger though.
