Actually the wicket of Vihari was a blessing in disguise for India. He was going no where with his strike rate and putting pressure on the team. Pant's counter attack opened up the game.

Aus has bowled really well, but Indians played too defensive at times to allow bowlers to keep bowling at certain spots. Indians missing Kohli here to score runs at a decent clip and also bat long.

India should get 250, but that means Aus can bat more freely and pile up runs. With the current batting of India, they are not saving this test if they have to bat long.

As expected it is about keeping one’s concentration in AUS and not giving it away softly. IND’s to mess from here on unless someone from AUS produces a moment of brilliance. Should come to within 50 runs of the lead easily or surpass it.

Re. bowling to Pant, this is where someone like Wagner and the NZD may be beneficial, or anyone with metronomic ability and commitment to a tactic:

- NZD fully commit to the Wagner attack with 2-3 men patrolling the rope on the leg side and sometimes a fine deep third man for the ramp. Wagner lands (around 25/30) c. 85% of his deliveries either short of length or short. The tactic’s fruition lies in probabilistic weight attached to Pant not being able to resist for that long.

- AUS typically do not over commit to a single plan. Mixture of one pr two men back/three quarters and part orthodox field. But they do not know when and where he may throw his hands (slight exaggeration but that’s the overarching principle).
