No, but the England batting should.Would the pitch get a demerit point?
Congrats @aboveandbeyond on this mighty, mighty performance despite batting first against an attack without Hazlewood and Cummins.

Never said it wasn'tWinning and losing is Part and Parcel of the game. Honestly, adopt the same mentality. Lol

What the duck is this.
Head played out of his head and Aus get a dominating win.
Seriously, this Aus team had no business winning this match. England will be deflated after this loss even if it is the first Test.
Bumrah has bowled well in second innings many times. His chief issue is when india has spinners, in 4th innings captain rarely allows him to bowl as indian spinners dominateThis is why I don't rate these glass made pacers. They come in bowl great in 1st innings and then go missing in the next.
Same with Bumrah. No wonder he doesn't have a 10fer
Even totally washed up kohli made runs at perth
Sounds likeBen stokes has become a philosopher haha
“It’s the two sides of sport, winning and losing. The emotions are completely different. There’s the highs of winning, and you’ve got to let that go and then move on to the next one, just as you do when you have these emotions. You’ve got to feel it all and then get rid of it.”

You don't have to bring India everywhere.![]()
India is not playing.
Annoying ain't it. The Ashes battle being derailed with Nonsense.

That is not bazball approach lol Only Brook tried that. Others succumbed due to lack of feet movement. In the 2nd innings pitch was flat. Last Perth test had 5 degree seam movement. That was way more difficult and they had Hazlewood and CUmmins as well. But these guys had much better batting conditions and were up against Starc/ debutant/Boland..The totally squandered it.England's Bazball approach is not going to work on Australian pitches. The sooner they realize this the better.
Seems like Smith threw the idea Head gleefully accepted it. Brought his ODI/T20 game in. In Tests you anyway have attacking field set. He bullied them by exposing the stumps. With 5 fast bowlers that shouldn't have happened. Having said that Head just accelerated the demise. I don't think anyone including debutant opener, Labu had any issues. Even without head they woudl have won probably in 45 overs or so. Pitch totally eased out.Well played Travis Head but I have to say you don’t have loyal fans across the world like some other cricketers have. Maybe @Devadwal , you wanna join his fan club. Atleast I will expect some loyalty from his fans somewhere.![]()
There are a quiet a few technically weak batsmen starting from Crawley in this set up. Nobody has that attitude of Alistair cook who was immensely patient.Dissapointing from Eng to not capitalize on Aus missing their main attack. Eng was 100+ ahead with 9 wickets in hands, but gave up.
Hope Eng puts up some fight and it's not regular one way flogging in Aus.
Root needs to step up. He should be able to go big few times despite being a suspect on bouncy surfaces in Aus. He is a fantastic player, it's make or break time for him. There are a quiet a few technically weak batsmen starting from Crawley in this set up. They should kick out Khawaja and bring in Mitch Marsh. He can offer more. Terrific fielder. Can chip in a over or two. In Amazing hitting form.
He had much less challenging conditions in the 2nd innings. He just had to see off Starc. He could have handled others. Starc is not even the best of the trio in Tests. Not like he is out of form. He is ranked no.2 or somethingRoot needs to step up. He should be able to go big few times despite being a suspect on bouncy surfaces in Aus. I was surprised they stuck with Usman till this Ashes, should have retired him after the India series last year.
A lead of 100 with 9 wickets in hand majority of the time is a match winning position.
Yah, Root should be able to go big few times. He is in form and Aus missing bowlers. Hope it comes in early part of the series. It would be meanigless if series is lost by the 3rd test and some big scores come.He had much less challenging conditions in the 2nd innings. He just had to see off Starc. India is not playing.
I also do not care who win.
I just want to see Root score big so that he can get closer to Tendulkar's record.![]()
Probably found voice after a fluke win against Ireland lolBut you also did the same thing on the same thread when it was convinient for you. Hypocrite much?
What a prediction!Ashes hands down best Test series. Head and shoulders above any that has India in it.
Yeah Khawaja is on his last legs. Should retire after this series.Bruh, they surely need to dump Khawaja now. Head to open, Webster back in the lower order.
Should be replaced in this series itselfYeah Khawaja is on his last legs. Should retire after this series.
It's a big series and Australia are a slightly risk-averse team when it comes to test cricket and big series. But I can see it happening too. Mitch Marsh somehow always manages to find himself in the reckoning for a spot evethough he has a pretty rubbish recordShould be replaced in this series itself
He is the risk lol THey have been telling this for last few series. He is playing for the opposition more often than not. They can pick Mitch Marsh or even Jos Inglis instead. It's a big series and Australia are a slightly risk-averse team when it comes to test cricket and big series. But I can see it happening too. I saw some ex player I can't remember who saying it's likely he will get two tests to see if he can play. This was before the fitness issues though. Perhaps now he will be axed using the excuse of injuryShould be replaced in this series itself
They've had 85 tests to learn he can'tI saw some ex player I can't remember who saying it's likely he will get two tests to see if he can play.

Well he did score a double ton a couple of series ago, and you can't exactly drop someone after they've racked up a double ton on an overseas tour. Eventhough his form has been in decline since last year he has been playing those types of 'get out of jail' knocks that have been buying him time. Also in any country selectors hesitate before dropping senior players. But yes Josh Inglis is definitely far more deserving of an opportunity. Not sure if I agree about Marsh though. How many times does this guy have to fail only to make a comeback? He is the risk lol THey have been telling this for last few series. He is playing for the opposition more often than not. They can pick Mitch Marsh or even Jos Inglis instead.
Yeah I can see that happening. He is way too old now at 39. A fine player at his peak with a great compact technique but he's done nowI saw some ex player I can't remember who saying it's likely he will get two tests to see if he can play. This was before the fitness issues though. Perhaps now he will be axed using the excuse of injury
I agree. I think they'll back Marsh simply because I don't they'll risk two inexperienced batsmen in that lineup, with Weatherald being one. It's a big series and Australia are a slightly risk-averse team when it comes to test cricket and big series. But I can see it happening too. Mitch Marsh somehow always manages to find himself in the reckoning for a spot evethough he has a pretty rubbish record

He got out on two good deliveries, this series will determine his legacy. Was he also a stat padder or a class player
He needs to score when series is alive not in dead rubbers. He got out on two good deliveries, this series will determine his legacy. Was he also a stat padder or a class player

England in the last 16 Tests in Australia:
Won -0.
Lost - 14.
Drawn - 2.
@aboveandbeyond only Pakistan have more pathetic record than England in Australia. Losing all the game since 1995

Yea offcourse Ashes will be superior in mediocrity when one side is getting Thrashed again and again. But the Ashes will always be way superior to the Border Gavaskar series. FACTS.

Australians are a little more humble about their achievements in comparison. LOok at the 1 hour 2 hour discussion on 2005 Test series they are still having that too for winning at home without Mcgrath. Australia has brutalized them many times over the years.Yea offcourse Ashes will be superior in mediocrity when one side is getting Thrashed again and again.![]()

yea. not winning is not necessarily equivalent to losing.I will not repeat same line again and again.
Now checked Australia record during that period. They have won 6 test in England and drawn 2 Ashes series.
