A very sad day. Australia were extremely lucky with Anderson’s injury which completely changes the complexion of this game.
He wouldn’t have allowed Australia to add over 150+ with the last two wickets in the first innings or to score 450+ in the second innings.
The Edgbaston fortress had to be breached in bizzare circumstances.
England needs to forget this fluke defeat and treat this as a 4 match series. At full-strength, they are still better than this average Australian riding on Smith’s coat-tail.
They also need to accommodate Archer in the lineup because he would have compensated for Anderson’s injury here.
So only reason Aussies are dominating because of Andersons injury? Look how pathetic englands batting is, exposed here and against ireland. Aussies are an average test side but so are england.
