What's new

Australia (391 & 227/3d) defeat Pakistan (268 & 235) by 115 runs to win 3rd Test - Take series 1-0

Let’s stop this victim mentality. That was out. No gap between bat and pad and there was a spike, small spike but it convinced me he feathered it. Good decision

Terrible ridiculous decision aussies we’re happy they got away with one. The spike has to be a big one for it to be overturned those little spikes go up with a pop of dust too idk what that hoshiarpur express is on just another Indian supporter who wants pak to lose but that is not how this works bud

This is classic Azhar. Run away when there's a need to employ the skill he's known for.

Technology exists to help umpires correct errors rather than make a new decision. In the case of Azhar if we are looking for substantial evidence to overturn the onfield umpire call then it didn't existed similarly if umpire had it out it would have stayed out.

Fawad, Azhar, Hasan and Sajad should never play test cricket for Pakistan.

Kamran, Saud, Arshid Iqbal and Nawaz should replace these useless players.

With losing only one wicket... Not a bad start though... Considering the some disciplined bowling of Australia

2 wickets.

A session of blocking and losing wickets.

this is what happens when you take inns into reverse and then lose a wicket. you end up in a bigger hole.

Same issue once again - block, block, block and then try playing a rash shot and throw your wicket away. Sick of this stupid mentality.

The 3rd umpire was fed up of Azhars death batting and gave him out. Anyone else would have done the same.

pathetic gutless inns deserved that ending.

Cummins is not getting the movement Starc was. We should target him. Make a statement. Cut off the head.

Lol Test is the only format where Hasan is somewhat rated and you want him gone from there too?

Where does he go then? Away from International cricket alltogether?

For the decision to be overturned there has to be conclusive evidence which in this case clearly didn't exist. I am sure u would be arguing for the same if this was an indian. Look at Azhar's reaction it may help

It was conclusive because there was a spike. If there was no spike I would not have said out.. indian or not indian. From indian perspective i want match to be drawn.. which had more chances if Azhar continued so that is that.

Pak can't win here 280 runs on this crumbling pitch is too much for this batting lineup....need to fight it out for a draw

That decision of out against Azhar Ali IMO was not the correct call.

The on-field umpire gave it not out, there was not enough definitive proof to overturn that decision.

Extremely fazul umpiring.

Don't think either Sajid or Nauman would have been this threatening even on a day five wicket.

Pakistan batters have come under the scanner rightly, but the two spinning uncles have been a significant weakness in this team.

He can go for dance or he can become a tiktoker. His international cricket is almost over

There was a clear edge there. If you see the replay in slow motion, there is a deviation once the ball passes the bat. Also the spike in snicko is convincing, the wave before the ball reached the bat was a little low, once the ball was next to the bat the wave spiked a little more which means there was a faint nick for sure. It was a right decision, it was OUT.
That is my personal opinion. You can differ.

The third umpire had enough of Azhar Ali’s batting aswell he wanted a more exciting match.

Incorrect, the umpire did not make a decision, he turned the decision over to the third umpire.

This match won't be saved unless Imam can hang around post lunch. He looks likely to get out any time.

This is the first (and hopefully only) time ever that I wanted Pakistan to lose a match, unfortunately.

The reason is that, if they win or even draw this one, and save the series, this means all the fear, problems, of the Pakistan Cricket that has been exposed will be forgotten, especially Ramiz Raja, (all big talk, but no knowledge of Pitches, and scared of Australia himself).

You are only fooling yourself.

There is no way they are going to somehow revolutionize Pakistan cricket in case of a disappointing lost. It is going to be business as usual, so might as well enjoy a win.

The spike needs to be bigger for it be overturned. Idea is there can be other causes for such tiny spikes. I've seen such decisions going in favor of batsmen in the past but seems Pakistanis are currently operating in 'hospitality' mode

I never understood this comment playing for his spot, they play to their ability, the bowling being dished out, and direction providedby captain and coach. Everybatsman wants to score runs if they could. Yes sometimes you can bat with more courage but that has risk involved which may not be advisable due to match situation. Azhar took the risk and put Pakistan in deeper trouble.

Absolutely. Third umpire could have eaaily said no clear evidence to over turn the decision.

So tense this!!

Watching the vid I thought the umpire went upstairs straight away, but it looks like Cummins did call the DRS.

It was DRS went to the last few seconds. Suppose the contention is beyond reasonable doubt, it wasn't

What is the implication on the WTC points for Pakistan if this is another draw? Will we still be in second place? The away tests in SL later this year won't be easy, we will lose a match there for sure.

Thank you PCB for this experience. The most pointless month of Test cricket ever.

Ball hasn't started to reverse properly. I still think Pakistan will likely lose given this is Australia.

Having said that, your point about PCB stands - the worst experience they could have thought of, they delivered. Babar's safety first approach is also on display.

The commentators saying on air there was no conclusive evidence

Just saw Azhar's replay....it was a harsh decision.

Certainly not conclusive enough to give it out.

The argument of conclusive evidence is debatable because what umpire makes of the evidences produced can vary from umpire to umpire.
So yes, umpire can simply rule out saying not conclusive OR some umpire may take the decision to overturn on-field decision. Can go either way and this time it went Aussies way.

My personal opinion is correct decision was made because Smith was very confident in real time and pushed Cummins to take DRS.
Plus clear deflection after ball passed the bat.

Pitch is badly crumbling now, it appears Pakistan could have max survived overall 95 odd overs here but Cummins master stroke of early declaration and purchasing extra 22 overs will be decisive in this. Even Waqar looks nervous in commentary.

Anyway following SENA teams + outside Asia non SENA teams have won away Test series in Pakistan

1) Australia 1959 0-2
2) England. 1961 0-1
3) New zealand 1969 0-1
4) West indies 1980 0-1
5) South Africa 1997 0-1
6) Australia 1998 0-1
7) Zimbabwe 1998 0-1
8) England 2000 0-1
9) Australia*** 2022 0-1 ( probably)

In adopted home
1) Australia 2002 0-3 in sri lanka/uae
2) New zealand 2018 1-2 uae

Smith confident? He's a proven cheat did it on a number of occasions, dont go by his reactions. Look st azhar ali how disappointed he was

Pakistan fans are fine with it.

Mediocre fans supporting a mediocre team.

This series has been about licking Australian boots and showing our hospitality. We never had any intention of winning.

It is ridiculous to suggest that the evidence wasn’t conclusive.

The ball is CLEARLY in contact with the bat - you don’t even need ultra edge to confirm. 100% out.

Cheat, okay can be understood by his past. But stupid enough to burn another review. Don't think so.

Our fans are always crying - they will reject all evidence just so that they can live in denial and pretend that Pakistan were unlucky to lose.

Imam calling for runs is Mohd Yusuf level, will end up running out his partner or himself.

Thank you PCB for this experience. The most pointless month of Test cricket ever.

Stop moaning on everything. Irrespective of the results, this was a historical series for PCB as well as for whole Pakistan. Those who love their nation truly would know it.

Ur opinion really holds no value believe me with 95% of posters here

And the opinion of Pakistani fans means nothing to me because they are the most delusional fans in the world who don’t know the first thing about cricket.

Test cricket works in cycles.
Things happen. Azhar’s decision is not as controversial as was

Ganguly’s dismissal by Moin khan catch in chennai test i think, when ball hit the ground and our fielders pretended it hit the boot of ganguly.

Cheat, okay can be understood by his past. But stupid enough to burn another review. Don't think so.

Azhar Ali too is not stupid enough to risk a fine for showing dissent on field.Never seen him react to a dismissal like that.

Again it's who you think nobody knows cricket except u

No...it wasn't

There were some spikes even before ball reached the bat

You don’t need ultra edge when the bat is CLEARLY in contact with the ball which is obvious from the picture that I posted.

Next time a batsman edges the ball to first slip, please ask for ultra-edge to confirm.

Ultra-edge is only useful or relevant when an edge is not noticeable through the naked eye.

Besides, the spike itself can be influenced by other factors as well, so it is not 100% accurate. You don’t need ultra-edge when you can see that the bat and ball made contact.

Then there was no need of playing cricket at all. Should have invited the Australian players on a holiday and showed them that Pakistan is now safe for cricket.

If you invited them to play a cricket series than at least try to win.

I have never seen a more cowardly cricket team.

Even if there were long periods of test match seemingly not going anywhere 2nd and 3rd tests had enough excitement to get me to watch 90 percent of the play. Some good batting and bowling to enjoy, and as Maliq_Mudaser said this series has huge impication for future of cricket in Pakistan, and so far Pakistanis have been great hosts inspiring other top teams to tour.

Like I said after the pindi test and Karachi test (for which I was jumped on by posters because apparently it was so exciting) this will end in 3 draws because the pitches have been absolutely pathetic and disgraceful. The ICC should take severe action against us for this farce. I mean has there ever in history been a 3 test series finishing with 3 draws where there haven’t been weather delays/cancellations?

Hope Australia beat us because that’s exactly what we would deserve

I don’t understand this idiot Imam

If you are not looking to score runs against Lyon then why are you even trying to defend or play the ball pitched way outside leg? He is such an idiot
