They'll drag it out so they go into the final session with a handful of runs remaining, so they can enjoy their dinner as they look at the dejected Aussies across the dining room.

You always tend to underestimate the challenge of chasing in the fourth innings, even though history tells us that chasing 250+ - let alone against a quality unit - is incredibly difficult.
Even last year, you were confident at the end of the day four that Shafiq and the tail would take Pakistan home, but as expected, they eventually succumbed to the pressure created by the Australians.
England indeed have a good chance of winning from here, especially if Root can add another 70-80 odd runs. However, Australia is going to come hard at them with some relentless bowling - it is going to be very difficult for Root, Woakes, Bairstow and Moeen to resist the pressure for long.
It is still Australia’s game to lose, but yes miracles do happen.
Kohli almost chased down 360 in Adelaide two yrs ago , let's see if Root can emulate him with this one. Interesting day tomorrrow.
Kohli had the support of a great lineup. The openers set up perfectly if am not wrong and those conditions weren't this much tough for the batters.Nevertheless great inngs that was.
Either ali or bairstow need to play a quality inngs here though root will be the ultimate key and for the first time am missing stokes badly
It’s all about the new ball. If England can get through it without a wicket going down they will be in the driving seat. Then they will be facing an old ball under the lights which will be easier to manage and the Aussies will start to panic.
Moeen and Bairstow will have to step up too, the tail won’t last against these bowlers.

Woakes was a very interesting strategic choice as Nightwatchman. One of the better batsmen in the team on current form. It’s like they were gambling on him to survive the final session (which paid off) in the hope that he would play one of his vital annoying impish knocks in the morning. Could be a shrewd move if there is an early partnership.

There are two periods tomorrow that will test England.
First 30-40 minutes as Root gets his eye in and when the new ball comes around. If they can manage these periods, they're in with a chance to pull off an incredible chase.
Nonetheless, they've turned this into an incredible match. That's what it's all about.
Joe and England have finally stood up to the challenge, let it end in victory..
Nightwatchman doesnt survive first ball scare.![]()
England's second best batsman bats at 8....![]()
Not sure with that dismissal, it was a roaring delivery and a strong appeal which were very convincing; but then there was absolutely nothing on hotspot whereas there was a small but clear bump on snicko - could it have been the bat brushing a part of the body or pad? Or did he nick it? I am still unsure.

Moeen will settle for a match winning hundred, easy.
Will 2 do?
Lol, Swann's hilarious.![]()
What happened?
The match turned out to be a good one despite the disappointing effort by England on day 5.
England ahead 60-40.
