What's new

Australia beat West Indies by 9 wickets in the first Test

Nah.
Hazlewood made his ODI debut back in 2010 or 2011.

In Ponting's last test he was the backup quick in the squad but didn't get to play and that was back in 2012

I remember around 2011-12, Australia had Siddle and Hilfenhaus bowling line and length. Johnson was out of the side so the third seamer had to be somebody who could bowl quick. I guess Hazlewood was competing with the first two who were in good form, while Pattinson was competing with an out of sorts Johnson.

Hazlewood would have been injured around then from memory.

Pattinson had the luck to be fit against the Indians and played well that series and then was preferred as the player who had performed at test level

Watson hasn't been much of a bowler for the past four years now. His strike rate is just atrocious.

Time to stop thinking of him as a test match all rounder?

He has always been a batting all rounder , in all formats

Johnson gets Ramdin and we could be batting before tea

49 overs left in the day

Australia could be leading by stumps.

It's 4am, and I'm too tired to keep following the match. I wonder how anybody from the east coast of Australia can follow tests in the West Indies, the timezones are so prohibitive.

Doesn't look like Johnson will recover his pace again. Around 140+ is fine though because of his newly-found consistency; has added some new tricks as well.

Starc does a trick on Samuels.Nicely executed bouncer.Well judjed catch by Hazlewood too.

Australia you have a gem of a captain in Clarke. What a brilliant cricket mind.

Hazlewood should do well in Eng. His style should be very effective there.

Brilliant work by the Aussies.

Man, England is going to get hammered in the Ashes :)))

Please tell me, how in the HELL did England lose a test against this side and failed to win a series? Australia don't even have their best bowler in this series.

England are crap, that's why.

Cook and his merry boys will be shitting bricks in anticipation of the Ashes now.

Still shocking that Pakistan do not have a Test series win in WI yet.

Weather permitting, this match should be wrapped up in 3 days.

The commie slating Gabriel's pace would do well to realise that he has nearly touched 150 this spell

Bichoo needs to strike and he'll get a fifer. The rest of Aus's lineup are walking wickets against spin.

Voges playing exactly like a 35 year old debutant should. Ain't got nothin to worry bout.

Stumps. Windies all out for 148. Reply of 85/3 from Australia - slightly ahead.

Think we are a bit more than slightly ahead since all our XI can bat. Decent first up performance, Johnson is a concern - and Shaun Marsh is not an opener.

Why is this series barely registering any interest? Why doesn't CricInfo cover the series as much as England games?

Just saw the highlights on ten cricket and was impressed by the length bowled by Hazelwood. Johnson's fearsome pace seems to have deserted him for good however. Nowhere near the 150 kph thunderbolts he could bowl until a year ago.

Hazlewood and Harris is going to be a great new ball partnership in England.

Come on Windies! This is your yard, you can beat these Aussies!

West Indies need to show some proper intent, commitment and desire from the off today. Couple of quick wickets in the first half hour and their tails should be up

Hmm, Wood and Stokes are up at 90 mph so that will be interesting.

That is pretty interesting. Stokes doesn't have the accuracy just yet and I'm not sure if Wood is tall enough but Clarke's back is a major weakness that England can exploit.
