Australia reach Stumps on Day 1 of the 2nd Test against Pakistan in Karachi on a commanding 251/3

Decent first day for batting. Aus making it count. This Pitch will crumble, then so will pak..
 
Shaheen and hassan are your main weapons and you prepare pitches for two Sunday league finger spinners only Pakistan can do this.
 
1 bad ball an over still. This is has been a poor effort from our bowlers so far today.
 
Watching the India-SL test match start on the other channel. The pitch layout, conditions, atmosphere looks another level.

Chachu got an ugly 6-fer on the first test with leg side bowling, and the management thought he's legendary. The other guy releases the ball from behind his bald shine and can't even spin it.
 
Khwaja would not even be half the player he is today if his parents didn’t move to Australia
 
Looks like another boring pitch. But with Aus batting first they could put Pak under pressure and force a result.
 
Pakistan can still get Australia out for 320-330
They just need good inspirational one spell from someone

Thats the difference betwen world class team and minnow team like Pakistan.

If Pakistan had batsmen like Warner, Khawaja opening for them , they would be world class too..

I hope Shafique and Imam is not just one match wonder on a flat road.. Hope they can go on to be like Anwar and Aamer Sohail..
 
Any home advantage is quickly being neutralised a long test match for Pakistan showing why they are a low ranked team.
 
In order for reverse swing to be effective, you must be able to move the ball both ways with the old ball.

One dimensional predictable swing is very easy to deal with for world class quality batsmen
 
Sajid has lost his confidence needs a wicket quickly only chance to win if spinners are firing.
 
Going at 4 an over with Head to bat who can play quickly match slipping away quickly.
 
It isn't helping that Babar has spread the field and is allowing easy singles to the batsmen. This creates zero pressure at all. His natural instinct after every boundary is to put a fielder on the boundary.

It’s to do with the mindset aswell negative mindset playing slow cricket.
 
Khuwaja is the best batsmen from both sides. Babar does not hold a candle to him.
 
unless we get 2 quick wickets here we are in trouble. Im sure certain pakistan batsmen will bat at 1 run per over when we come to bat on this.

Let the match and series finish first? Khuwaja is just going through his late purple patch, and at this age any dip in form may will be permanent. Babar ceiling is way higher.

We'll crawl to 100 of 50 overs then threads will be opened saying how amazing that 50 was from Azhar and Imam at a strike rate of 30 and how fans don’t deserve these all time great batsmen.
 
Somehow this match feels like its taking place in Australia.

Australia being 160-2 in 44 overs is a scoreline you expect to see in Australia, not Pakistan.

Surprise surprise when you bowl outside the off stump, batsmen are troubled.

I thought England tactics over the years have made it clear, bowling at the pads of these guys , just doesn't work.
 
Wickets in Pakistan had been mostly like that it's the skill of bowlers to get the batsman out Wasim Waqar Akhtar reverse swinging in late sessions to turn the game sadly our bowling has decline to minnow level in Test cricket we don't have a quality spinner let alone a tearaway fast bowler :akhtar:sami
 
Our bowling stocks are marginally better than Bangladesh/Zimbabwe.

Sajid Khan has been disappointing. Not expecting a 5-fer on Day 1 but just some control. I remember seeing him pummeled by Hasan Ali in the 2021 QEA Final, he had no idea what to do when attacked.
 
What is the job of Saqlain Mushtaq? None of our spinner improved under him. This guy is a fraud. He took lots of money from PCB to help Ajaml but didn't do anything.
 
Just switched the channel and seen srilankan puff of dust on the indian wicket after only 7 overs...i know that is too extreme as matches will finish in 3 days but still that is what is home advantage about
 
The pitch looks better than Pindi one for a result. Slower one but I think from day 3 spinners will get turn from footmarks.

Either a result or hard fought draw is on card on day 5. Won't be boring like Pindi for sure.

Its not just our bad bowling its how he is dominating them by going about his business. He is a class act I see him dominating any bowling attack in the world.
 
Sajid khan has been worst bowler in this series for Pakistan.

Yasir Shah would have done better and he is also handy lower order batsman.

I agree thats why it wasa bad toss to lose aa i think we will struggle they have two spinners plus the pace battery
 
No way can we win this test if the Aussies score near 400 or more. Is the pitch another poor one or is our attack toothless?. I fear it is the latter.
 
Pakistan management has has no trust in fast bowlers that has literally won all the matches for them for last year or so.

Our spinners are minnow level.
 
Just relax guys. Slow the rate and stay in the game.

How about Australia have very good and experienced top order who have scored runs everywhere, so scoring runs on these flatish pitches not going to be too difficult for them. Paksitani bowling line up of course is also jothing special.
 
Trying to get batsmen out with reverse by bowling 129-135kph. No, it's not going to happen unless batsman makes a stupid mistake.

Shaheen bowling 133 kph when it's reversing is disgraceful.

I think it is our bowling that is the problem here more then the Aussie batting.
 
This pitch looks way better than the previous one. I mean its slow but its still doing something for bowler.

Australians are finding it hard to score runs.

Plus bowlers are bowling on really tight lines.
 
What a contrast between the quality of the spinners between the 2 sides. Lyon will have a lot better bowling figures than these 2 though he will bowl against more formidable spinner playing batsmen.
 
Can anyone tell me why Yasir Shah isn't playing? I haven't seen such ordinary spinners in Pakistan in my whole viewing career. Pakistan always had at least one world class spinner in their side.

Yasir shah has been washed up for years
 
If this match was in Australia they would score 500 and we’d be all out for 200 home conditions have to be used to the full it’s Australia who look dominant so far disappointing Pakistan fading away as a test team.

Being a low ranked team for a long time has taken its toll timid batsmen bowlers who can’t win matches against the best its looking bleak with no one to implement an aggressive mindset within the management.
 
Pak seam bowlers have never historically dominated aussie batsmen like they have done some other teams over the years.

Even Waqar and Wasim don't have amazing records v australia like they do against some other teams.

Pak will never beat Australia in Australia. Only chance is to create spin friendly tracks and hope our batters fare better than there line up in home conditions
 
Absolutely no intensity out there. They need to buckle up to take a wicket here!
 
These 2 looking 100% comfortable. Need some serious luck to pick up any more wickets before close of play.
 
What a terrible test match, this is looking like another flat Phatta pancake. Looks like another draw..... Pathetic...
 
Another terribly slow pitch and our indisciplined bowling also hasnt helped. Bowlers going for glory balls rather than sticking to good line n lengths nd building pressure.
 
I can foresee Pakistan batting at 2rpo and then collapsing in a heap. Australia will rack up 550 here.

Exactly. It may not be spinning square but at least hit a consistent length. Too easy for the batsmen right now.
 
The spinners' lack of accuracy is astounding. At least twice an over they just needlessly drift down the leg side and give free runs.
 
make our break session for our bowlers here. Inns is drifting away already.
