What's new

Australia tour of West Indies (2025)

Australia will struggle because new crop of batters is not same anymore. Where are young upcoming talent of australia not These Fraud konstas,JFM etc. I've High hope from Green but he is not suitable at 3. His position should be at 5 and asked Tulla head to open the inning

:kp
Head wont open in sena as he can't play short stuff.he opens only in sub continent where there is no threating bounce .its an open honest admission from his selection committee.

Australia resorting to cheating again according to Darren Sammy and panelists

Interesting

Ref rigging the game wow?

Not surprised though.

Ah well.

Lol at this pitch...

Cameron is over-rated. He is a nothing batter and number 3 slot is not for him. Should be benched next game..

Quicks buying in as culture evolves for new-look West Indies

Confidence is building within the West Indies' fast bowling group, according to coach Daren Sammy.
West Indies coach Daren Sammy has praised the efforts of his bowling group following another impressive display on the opening day of the second Test against Australia in Grenada.

The West Indies' pace attack combined to take all 10 Australian wickets on a rain-interrupted day at the National Cricket Stadium on Thursday, with the visitors eventually out for 286 in their first innings before another shower saw stumps called early with the ICC World Test Championship contest evenly poised.

It was the third time this series that the West Indies had dismissed Australia for a below par score and Sammy believes confidence is rising within his bowling group.

"I more look at it like the homework we've done and our bowlers keep challenging the top-order," Sammy said after the opening day's play in Grenada.

"I mean (bowling coach) Ravi Rampaul ever since he has come in the culture we tried to change and it's more importantly the way the bowlers are buying to it and we could see the results out there.

"Like I said, 30 wickets in three innings I mean so many times you would have a declaration or in the first innings against our attack.

"The bowlers have done their homework and one when they put the ball in the right areas. It's not just Australia, they would have worried any batting top-order (in the world)."

It was towering pacer Alzarri Joseph that led the way for the West Indies on the opening day in Grenada, with the right-armer collecting four crucial wickets that included the key scalps of Australian duo Steve Smith and Usman Khawaja.

Joseph was well supported by Jayden Seales (2/45) and Sammy believes the West Indies are well placed for victory at stumps with four days remining in the clash.

"If you start the day with the opposition winning the toss and batting, and you restrict them to 280 you would take that," Sammy noted.

"We have played three innings against the No.1 team in the world and we've got them 30 wickets probably 37 if you count all the dropped catches.

"They had patches after lunch (today) where we let them get away with it but I think the session after that when we got five wickets...kind of made up for it."

Beau Webster (60) was one of two Australian batters to score a half-century on the opening day and the all-rounder thinks there is plenty of assistance in the pitch for the bowlers to take advantage of as the match progresses.

"The wicket is still offering enough, definitely with the new-ball it looked like it swung around quite a bit that morning session so hopefully we take advantage of that (on the second day)," Webster said.

"I would have liked to put a three in front (of Australia's score) no doubt, but 286 I think is a relatively good day."

Hazelwood loves bashing Windies batsmen. What is his record excluding WI?

Lyon now has 558 Test wickets.

He is 6 wickets away from surpassing McGrath (563 wickets).

I think he can get the job done in this series.

Windies in dire need of atleast two world class batsman.

Not sure why Mayers is not playing, atleast he had that mercurial ability.

Seem like westindies find some good Pacers but batting is still huge problem.

Australia will win this test with ease but fraud Tullebaaz Konstas and Head Failed even against WI.

How is Head a "fraud tullebaaz"?

Is it because Head cost India 2 ICC trophies (2023 WC final and 2023 WTC final)? :inti

Head is a modern day great.

Also, Windies pace attack is pretty good. Probably better than Indian pace attack.

Pitches have been spicy too. So, batters are struggling.

Check Head test records in Asia or outside Australia.

He was dropped from playing eleven during last BGT series in india.

He played 4-5 BGT series and australia only won once.

Head is nothing player without luck. No luck , no party for tullebaaz head. You can check Head entire career
:kp

Aus should look out to replace top 3 before ashes for any kind of fight. Green should come at 5/6 till smith is gone.

kontsas failed again . Another 🦆 :kp

Head is an impact player. He is a big match player.

Check his innings from 2023 WC final and 2023 WTC final. :inti

You are confusing soft runs with impact runs.

lead of 45 runs. and 2 already down...

This test can finish on day 3 as well...LOL

Yea. Australia will score 250+ in 2nd innings which is good enough to win against westindies.

Atleast this is good pitch unlike ENG - India series . Low scoring thrillers are more interesting than run feast.

NO PERSONAL REMAKRS PLEASE..

TALK ABOUT THE GAME OR ELSE YOU CAN LEAVE THE THREAD

Another controversial umpiring decision by giving Jayden Seales out.

Umpiring has been terrible and all the wrong decisions have gone against the home side

West Indies stay in the fight despite Australia’s lead

Two late wickets put West Indies back in the mix despite Australia’s 45-run lead in the second Test.

Australia held a 23-run lead at the end of the first innings after bowling West Indies out for 253 and had a slight advantage in their favour.

Australia had to then bat six overs late in the day and West Indies quicks made the most of it by removing openers Sam Konstas and Usman Khawaja, leaving the match finely balanced heading into the next day.

Windies skipper Roston Chase was pleased with the final phase of play and how his bowlers capitalised on the tricky evening conditions.

"Over this game and the last game, it's a trend that you're always getting wickets for the new ball," he said in the post-match press conference.

"Something's always happening with the new ball. So we were eager and ready to go out there. And we know that the guys wouldn't want to bat, obviously, in an evening session, a couple of overs to go.

"It's probably the most challenging thing to bat as an opener. So, yeah, we just wanted to put the balls in the right area. And hopefully, we can get some wickets and we got two."

The new ball sentiment was echoed by Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood, who emphasized that batting early will only become more challenging as the Test match progresses.

"I think any new ball from here on in will be very hard work.I think the wicket probably held together better than I thought it would after looking at it before the game," said Hazlewood.

"But again, the softball doesn't do too much of it. So, I think, yeah, it'll be interesting to see tomorrow how the wicket actually plays and if it sort of goes off a cliff or it just continually slowly gets harder to bat. But I think it definitely won't get easier to bat."

Josh Hazlewood backed his teammate and young opener Sam Konstas to find form soon despite a string of poor performances. The 19-year-old has managed just 33 runs in four innings and was dismissed for a duck in the current innings.

"You're here for a reason. I guess you just trust that. You're in this position because you're a good player," Hazlewood said in support of Konstas. "Every time I've bowled to him in the last few months [in the nets], he just keeps getting better and better, it feels like. He got thrown into a tough situation there.

"But we saw in the first innings, he played some really nice shots, put some pressure back on the bowlers. I think he's turning in the right direction. But it's tough at 19.”

In some ways, the attacking intent expected from Konstas was better embodied by West Indies batter Brandon King.

Despite having played only four first-class matches this domestic season with an average of 30.25, King was included in the side to take the attack to the opposition bowlers, and he delivered with a brilliant knock of 75 off 108 balls.

"He's an aggressive batsman. He likes to play his strokes," said skipper Chase. "When he gets whiffed, he would score. When the ball's up, he would score. So, yeah, we expect Brandon to be the type of player to try to put pressure back onto the bowlers."

"And he did that today. When the ball was in his areas, he capitalized. And anytime the bowlers were off, he made them pay. So, yeah, that's the kind of innings that we were looking for from Brandon."

Australia went into Lunch on Day 3 at 69/3 in their second innings, holding a 102-run lead over West Indies in the St George’s Test. After losing Sam Konstas and Usman Khawaja early to a fiery Jayden Seales spell, Cameron Green and Steven Smith steadied the ship with an unbroken 41-run stand, navigating some tricky spells from Alzarri Joseph and Shamar Joseph.

Earlier, Australia posted 286 in their first innings, with valuable knocks from Beau Webster (60) and Alex Carey (63), before dismissing West Indies for 253. Nathan Lyon starred with 3 wickets, while Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood chipped in with two each. With a lead already over 100 and two days remaining, the visitors will now aim to stretch their advantage and put the hosts under pressure on a wearing pitch.

Want West Indies to win this test & the next. Sammy is trying to do something with the test team by playing white ball players. They need the win badly.

Been a compelling series so far, good battle between bat and ball unlike ENG-IND.

Think any more than 200 and Australia have enough.

He's the best after Bradman in that format for me.
His Prime is > Anyone minus Bradman.

Currently he's no 2 however due to a form slump i can understand why sobers, Lara, Sachin are now viewed as more debatable with him.

But he has seemed to recover from the gorm slump tbf. 2 centuries vs india, followed by 2 vs Sri Lanka. And he'll score another one today.

If he manages to do so thats 5 centuries in 7 games? That's a phenomal comeback

Australia is in a good position now... 254 and they still have 3 left. they can add 50-60 more and game over for windies./

Only a small sample of four Tests have been played at this ground. The highest chase is 143.

I'd love to know what beef Adrian Holdstock has with the WI team.

Thankfully DRS overturns him as Carey looked out LBW in real time - the only question was height as it hit Carey above the knee roll. But it looked to be clipping at least yet the guy not outs it.

Now that dismissal of Campbell is very similar to the Carey LBW although impact is more in line with stumps here. Hits him slightly above the knee roll and would've also hit legstump.

Except this time Adrian Holdstock gives it out. DRS shows three reds as it did with Carey.

It's the correct outcome but why didn't he give Carey out too ? Joke of an umpire.

Big time uneven bounce !

Might get easier to bat after this new ball spell but can't see WI getting close to 277 bar somebody playing a worldie.

Kevlon anderson and jewel andrew are their last hopes.
Long term ? I'm not sure . He's done well in this Test and kudos to him but they don't have a pipeline of batters who can form a good lineup.

Brathwaite has played 100 Tests and averages 33 .

Jewel is too young and unproven at this level but is very gifted no doubt.

Kevlon has 44 FC average so yeah they should get him in ASAP.

Also, not sure why they dropped Sinclair.
I also think sinclair has been dropped without any reason. He is definitely better than that parchi greaves
