He was saying why do the umpires keep re-checking the ball, if they are already looking at it after only 5 overs, there must be something wrong with it. Just replace it and get on with it.![]()
Poor shot from Warner.
No need for that especially as he was in. It was like a tailender shot in One day cricket.
Probably the equally most disappointing player for Australia in the past 5 years along with Mitchell Johnson IMO. On talent alone, Watson should average 45 with the bat and sub 30 with the ball.Geez Twatto has an ordinary average for a first drop batsman. 35 is very ordinary. We keep going on about how talented he is is but he's been playing for years

Horrible shot. That's one thing that Warner has to learn if he is to make the next step to being a real gun player - the ability to know which balls to leave.

I couldn't agree more, but mental fortitude isn't something that's easily measured. All you can do is throw talented players in the deep end and see if they can swim.Yea that's why I never rate talent by itself, because without mental fortitude it won't translate into success.

I'm reluctant to blame Warner. He played his natural game and there is always an inherent risk involved. It's a risk worth taking AFAIAC.pitch is slow to be honest, ball not coming on to the bat, might have contributed to the dismissal.
Warner seemed stuck in two minds.
1. He wanted to attack and hit the ball.
2. He recognised that he shouldn't.
So he didn't really do either.

Unfortunately, Australia have a few players who occasionally tease us with what they're capable of, but never deliver on a regular basis. Watson, Johnson, Phil Hughes, and Mitchell Starc all come to mind. On talent, alone, we should be 2nd behind SA in tests.
Talent is the best hope we have though right now. Sure there are lesser players who are mentally stronger, but they will never be capable of delivering what we demand. I'd prefer to wait until the more talented players mature enough so they can deliver close to their potential than accept a more predictable state of mediocrity.
I agree, it looked ordinary on tv. I just don't see it as something that's easily corrected. Warner is the type of batsmen that is best off relying on his natural instinct and feel rather than outside analysis of his game to correct his flaws. The disappointing thing was that it was a nothing shot, as the saying goes if you want to slash, slash hard.
He is better than Symmo, both as a batsmen and bowler, at least he should be! In a stronger era, he'd earn his stripes first, but we don't have that luxury. Stronger talent is a good enough reason for a longer rope IMO. Watson and Hughes are the two players we shouldn't give up on.Yes well he has had way too many chances to be fair. Put it this way if he wAs being picked purely as a batsman or purely as a bowler he wouldn't make this side. Just doesn't have that mental strength IMO. He's there as a bits and pieces selection which means he should be batting at 6.
He may prove me wrong and score a ton today - maybe like Symmo he needed 8 years to develop and his 176 was his breakout performance. We will see but I'm not convinced by him at all. Other players have not been given anywhere near as long the rope he has been given.

He's too far up the order. He should bat at #6.
What's wrong with Cook it's only the 2nd over after lunch and only Swanns 2nd over of the game and he's got a deep mid on for Watson. Come on Cook attack Watson let him go over the top why give him easy singles. Another negative and defensive tactic by Cook.

Cook is very defensive at times.
:4
Aussies have been getting a boundary every over in the last 4 overs
Anybody have an audio link that I can listen to on my iPhone ?
Test Match Sofa is the only one I can find - though I can't stand the 'commentators' so I turned it off.
