What's new

India (587 & 427/6d) defeat England (407 & 271) by 336 runs in 2nd Test at Edgbaston

teams lose Test matches , that can happen , the real issue here for Poms is that the mind set , with this kind of mind set they will continue to lose in coming years. Even the 50 over game , they seldom bat full 50 overs.
Mindset overall isn't too bad. I like the batting approach. It is good in most cases, I don't think they did anything too reckless in the 4th innings. India bowled fantastic and deserve a huge amount of credit for how they made the ball talk.

What I don't like is:

1. Preparing complete phattas.
2. Thinking that chasing no matter the condition is good test match strategy.
3. Test match bowling is a complete afterthought and is basically cannon fodder.

Those things are something that they need to fix urgently.

That was very poor from Smith. I think he was going for his personal landmark rather than the need of the team.

He needed to be there through the end. Defend, defend, defend.

Bazball is good but it cannot work all the time in all situations.

Today wasn't the right time for Bazball. They could've drawn it by batting sensibly. :inti

Actually, clever piece of bowling. He gor deceived by the slower bouncer. Bowler deserves credit again
India won't get enough credit. All the focus will be on Bazball becoming undone as if it was totally self inflicted. However India bowled amazingly well. That morning spell by Akash was as good as it gets.

And when it counted they stood tall with the bat too.

I think in most cases conventional wisdom dictates you bat first on a complete phattas when winning the toss.

They got away with it once, can't get away with it always.
It's true elsewhere but in England, because the wickets don't deteriorate much, they have been chasing for the last 3 years.

Siraj looks spent.

Maybe Bumrah and Harshit will both come in for Lords. Prasidh needs to go.

Yep. And for me it comes down to Ben Stokes. Why win the Toss and field first on a absoute featherbed. To me, it seems Stokes has Ego issues. Like, "it's our way or non".

I said it at Headingly, England should have batted first then as well. Luckily for him, England got out of Jail with indias Very Poor fielding then.

Congratulations to our Indian posters.

A young Indian side batted well and then they made the ball talk on day 4 and 5 on a pitch that seemed like a flat pancake for the majority of the match.

An overseas win is special and the fact that this one came in a side with so many big names that we associate with Indian cricket missing recently retired, players like Ashwin, Kohli, Sharma and even Bumrah, is extra special. The torch has been passed over to the next generation and they have have already made their mark.

Indian posters are not playing out there. :inti

Players should be congratulated I guess.

29 overs are remaining. :inti

English tail should believe in themselves and take it 1 over at a time.

Nope 🙅‍♂️ 🙅‍♀️.

Before people start critiquing me, just look at India's record on this ground? And look at the team they are facing?

They stand no chance without Bumrah and a 10% chance with Bumrah is Bumrah has a field day.

Even Australia would lose to this England side on this den.

If india has a 0-10% chancez Pakistan is toast when they tour 😣
Talk nah. We smashed bazball tullebaaz in England.

India become first Asian team to win a test at the Edgbaston :kp

Always great to win big matches in Birmingham.

What a brilliant declaration by Shubman Gill it was. Won it with 28 overs to spare. Pies on the faces of some know it all khans on this forum. :inti
Agreed, hierarchy has always been me > Everyone > Know it all everyone's.

Good victory. I have approved for the 2nd.

I LOVE IT WHEN THE PLAN COMES TOGETHER
Typical ignorant stuff from my Indian brother @Devadwal . You are sitting somewhere in India and arguing about rain with someone who lives 15 minutes away from the cricket ground.

Typical stuffs from a guys who live 15 minutes away from the cricket ground zero rain after 1PM

I hope rain can comes now to wash away the tears of Pakistani/ English and wannabe fans.

What you are smoking ..they adopted the style of bazzball from fast 4 years ..and you are telling them to play defensively?

I hope this win gives Indian think tank to be more assertive, confident and positive.no need to be too defensive like scared kitten.

I wasnt talking about either of you. The person I was referring to has already gone into limbo/hibernation and I suspect we won't see him again until India are in a losing position again :rabada2
I hope you are not referring to me either. I am the One Above All. Can't be questioned or detained or beaten.

I never go into hiding unless I am asleep, or my family calls for family functions. I am ever present, always watching, always haunting and existing throughout space and time.

Of course not you. You never hibernate. You're always here. :baelish

India have their first ever win at Edgbaston as they level the series!

Shubman Gill (269 & 161) was the main star of the show, who was supported by his bowlers Mohammed Siraj (6-70 & 1-67) and Akash Deep (4-88 & 6-99) to win their first ever game in Edgebaston by 337 runs.

India have shown Australia how to beat England.

England will get to chase 550+ in every test in Ashes.

England's ego cost em which is why india fluked a win. No big deal, My predictions are always correct unless some outside factor intervenes.

This time It was stokes. Those who listen to me, never go astray.

Congratulations Indian team. What an achievement that too in a venue we never won till now from 1967 it seems.

Momin teri prediction chuk gayi.

This is Death of bazball. Or banao Highway ,it could have been 2-0 with India favour but 10 dropped catch cost the first test match. :kp

What are you smoking? :inti

Today wasn't the right time for Bazball. If you watch cricket for a long time, you should know this.

Bazball also failed them in the past. There was a reason why they finished 5th last WTC.

If England want to be a top Test side, they have to mix Bazball with sensible batting. :inti

The reason why stokes is an outside factor is because of insubordination and ego putting his media image > the team.
