Cook leaves a straight one and is caught plumb in front second ball of the day.

Bell gets dropped facing his first ball. There seems to be a chance every ball and MJ is ripping Anderson a new one.

Cook is a good batsman but if you analyse his test career, he is mainly dominant against India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and West Indies all which have fragile bowling line-ups.

Anderson getting absolutely peppered here. I think the Aussies have psychologically scarred this England team for life.

Glad Anderson got out, it was just going to be torture for him.

England have had four 5-0 white/black washes in test history, 2 each against Australia & West Indies. This would be the 5th, easily the most against any side.

Breaking news: David Collier has confirmed that Any Flower will stay on as England team director

Watson doesn't drop it this time:

England 17/4

And the debutant Gary Ballance walks in. Yet another African bdw

Under 100 all out is on, it will be hard for England to get even to 50.

This series has not only exposed the vast gulf between the players but also between the support staffs. I personally find it inexcusable that the aussies have had perfectly solid plans for each and every England batsman and the English players and the support staff have had no answers. The coaches are suppossed to help the players out tactically against the opposition.

5-0 spanking coming up. When England lose, they lose real bad. :D

England always manage to lose in style, they don't just lose they make sure it's a whitewash, they disintegrate quickly if things don't their way, ultra conservatism and lack of self belief does that

Wow I hope Australia don't regret dropping that dolly. Get bell out now please quickly

I don't understand these tuk tuk tactics from eng. Just what has it got them? Granted the aussies have been ruthless with their plans and that they have worked out every batsman but why not try something different? Why not treat this like a t 20 game? Why not come out of the crease and just slog?

I mean do something different, put pressure on the bowling side. I am a neutral, I could care less who wins or loses the ashes but this is disgusting to watch.

England has no chance when they tour SA for 4 test matches. Only can perform against weak bowling.

This clearly confirms that neither Asian team and that includes Pakistan stands a chance against Australia in Australia. Only SA can compete with them.

Complete credit must not only go to Lehman but most importantly McDermott. His impact in this series is completely evident. He was their bowling coach when they demolished India 4-0 back home.

Who says coaches dont make a difference in this game.

Can Australia pull of a victory today?

Don't know what the weather forecast is like for the rest of the test, but Clarke probably won't enforce it anyway. The pitch will take more spin the longer the game goes on and will increase Lyon's threat, not that Australia need to rely on the spinner the way things are going.

Clarke might like to have that extra threat anyway.

Australia pace attack is right up there amongst the best. Their reserves are even frightening - Starc, Hazlewood, Pattinson, Clint, Bird etc

SA is one of the few teams in the world whom you just cannot plan against. There is no way in the world devilliers will allow these aussie bowlers to ball dot balls after dot balls. The proteas have this excellent ability to think on their feet and react promptly to everything the opposition throws to them.

If you come out with a negative mindset, this is the price you pay. England haven't learned their lesson all series, just trying to hang in never helps. One good ball will get you eventually" Australia's attack has been unrelenting against a batting line devoid of confidence and broken apart

They are good but mostly home bullies, they look clueless in the subcontinent. The 4-0 in India will confirm it. The SA attack atleast can adjust to different conditions.

25-5 (19)

England's next gen at the crease.

Stokes seems to have some mongrel about him, so might take the fight back to the Australians.

Johnson only played one match in india ..... Harris didn't play at all ....

Very true, if they sort their batting out, another period of domination coming

Against this bowling line up which is just not giving anything away conventionally why not adopt the T20 mindset. That's what devilliers would have done at least

Yeah, I wouldn't expect him to enforce the follow on. Steve Waugh would have though.

But do very well in Sri Lanka. Only ever lost one test match in Sri Lanka.

Just tuned in. What did I miss? What's happening to the Engerlund?

Thank god for the helmets! That would have killed the poor bloke.

England 61-5 @ Lunch

After the horror start, Stokes and Ballance looking good.

You taking what I said wrong way they don't need to play t20 mode but need to go out and make runs not just to save there wickets. Even the bad balls they don't put away.
And there was a stat for 2013 that Wastons has the highest percentage of dot balls for 2013. And I have watched this whole series yes Australia have bowled brilliantly especially Johnson but England batsmen not even one went out to bat to make runs. If you look at Autralian batsmen they batted to win. They attacked the bad bowls and had a plan how to make the runs and what bowlers to attack. England had only one plan to block and save their wickets. But I wonder why did they think they could draw all the tests or they thought they might sneak a win or 2 so they retain the ashes.

The concern for Aus is the batting. Rumours Haddin is retiring and Rogers is 35. Clarke's got back problems which might shorten his career.

Haddin has confirmed that he is not retiring.

pakistan lost a great opportunity to hire lehman as the coach

lol wth was that? Ben stokes left a straight ball on to his stumps. 8 down now. England has really been mentally scarred

9 down now. Still 2 runs needed to avoid follow on. Clarke is not gona enforce it anyways but still this would add to the mental scars of england

Johnson and Haddin have been the major difference between the sides. It would have been a closer contest otherwise. Haddin has rescued Australia from bad positions quite a few times.
I was looking at the series stats all 6 of the top scorers are Aus. Where as Johnson has almost twice the wickets of anyone else.
Aus vs SA would be a cracking contest but I think SA would win it as unlike Eng they have the pace to remove Aus lower order that has been the problem for Eng
